Car looks great, but too many gadgets that spell trouble for long term reliability. Most will lease anyway, but good luck to those who buy used without a warranty.

@@Mouwcat there’s already a microphone for voice commands that’s always listening for you to ask it something.. so they basically have you on video and microphone at all times that’s definitely not on accident
I had the new E350 as a loaner car for a week. The car was enjoyable. But the MBUX system that they used in this car sucked. For starters the system crashed and froze on my 5 times. Also I don't like the sub menus for charging the cabin fan speed and the temperature. Let alone the sub menu for the satellite radio.
I like the looks of it. Definitely has a better interior without the selfie cam and the super screen, so if you pay for less options you get a better interior.
Or a W124. Both were literally rock solid sedans, unlike the later model Mercedes-Benz's, especially the ones built during the terrible DaimlerChrysler era.
I don't know why they had to ruin the previous model's beautiful styling. The interior in that model made the beautiful materials the focus. This model makes that giant screen the focus. I really hate that. And I can only imagine how much that screen will cost to fix once it breaks. Planned obsolescence at its finest.
Well if was 1990 with the 500E or 1997 E420 or after 2007 when The E500 got The 386 cv v8, you can say it, it is ahead of The class, this hybrid thing with 2.0 engines in big Benz is not why a bought a mercedes benz...and still top of The MSRP...lol
I'm torn.. My IS200t (which is a rarity in Canada) has been hit and repaired but I'm not happy with the results and was looking to upgrade a larger car soon anyway. I like the look of the E class, but it seems BMW has started to take reliability more seriously to the point where I would consider one as a replacement to a Lexus. So my shortlist is really 530i, 540i, or Lucid Pure.. I like the fact the 5 has a longer wheelbase and is not as wide, but the Lucid can be had in RWD. Even though I don't drive much, I'm not sure I'm ready to go with an EV for a daily. The 540i is great but it's hard to overlook the lighter weight, better weight balance, and improved fuel economy of the 30i.
The last e-class to catch my eye on the streets was the mid-2010 e350/550. This looks like the former “Best or Nothing” has a Tesla interior with cheap looking eBay tack on front grill. Cameras on outside great, cameras on inside? Why? 🤷🏻♂️
Yes, it is still using permanent all-wheel drive with an actual center differential, not a clutch pack which only powers the front wheels on demand. This one is set up for 31% front 69% rear torque split which is great for handling.
Iirc we can opt to have a "regular" woodtrim dash instead of that hyperscreen or super screen. We've entered the tech era, which will hurt the quality of materials once found in Mercedes. Accept it or hold out. Current 2021 E class owner
Thank GOD they finally got rid of that four foot wide snowboard style screen! It’s still too many electronics, but at least it fits now. Don’t know why they chose a 2010’s Ford Taurus grille for the front end, but whatever.
Do these companies even have design teams anymore?? guys time to design new e class interior... 2 mins later, we are done. just stick a few tablets all over the place.
The good: nice interior design, quick off the line, good brakes, good economy. The not good: reliability, interior build quality, expense, bland exterior design.
Was considering the new E Class but won't buy a four cylinder with that black facia surround or the too tacky stars in the tail lights - I expect the front and back will be changed within 2 years.
The worst looking E-Class of all. Completely boring and unattractive next to the 5 series and Genesis G80. And the all screen setup is becoming tiring real quick! Next thing you know, cars won't even have wheels, it'll all be a giant grille wrapped in an OLED screen. Ridiculous.
This car used to be one of my favorite vehicles ever, until the later years that it became blander and blander each new generation... The instrument cluster looks like those first generation touchpads with huge bezzels and that dashboard (while clean) is terrible looking. The outside is... "meh" at most, no flavor at all.
I've got a 2014 E350 COUPE in Mars Red. Got the wheels chromed and added a Thornton performance chip. FAAAAAAST! V6. 302 hp, without the chip. I'll keep it all day over this new 4 cylinder thing. Hybrid, no thanks. They've lost me.

“Selfie cam” more like factory spy cam.

This is definitely not the E-Class of legend.
If I bought that the first thing I'd do is put electrical tape over the selfie camera. How stupid.
DAMN that thing can MOVE
MW had a retro review of a 1997 E420 recently. 7.4 seconds to 60.
And stop lol 99 feet
The interior at night looks like a Moscow strip club with all those colorful lights. Mercedes is a bit too gaudy with their interiors these days
Who do you think buys them?
I completely hate that dash
In dash selfie cam. That is the absolute stupidest option of all time.
Totally agree. And besides, this vehicle is not exactly targeted at the “selfie” demographic.

Id rather have a 10 year old W212 E-class over that.

That is a lease car only. Too much useless tech so for me I would take an old W123 anytime before this one.

Four wheel drive is supurbly responsive at highway speeds, too. The tires never lose traction..
