I bought a 2005 H2 Hummer off of a guy whose company had bought him a brand-new, loaded Hummer EV. He gave me a ride in it and yes, it is very nice, very gigantic and super fast! I loved it!
2 words. VERY TUFF. this 10,000 pound beast is very FAST. well done GM. i hope there will be more HUMMER EVs like this one. hmm, what about a 7 seat version of it. one day.
Now everyone else on the road is going to feel compelled to buy a 4-5000lb suv so they don't get completely obliterated in a wreck with a 8000lb truck that can accelerate as fast as a Ferrari from 15 years ago. We're moving the needle up in the direction of huge, heavy cars in a safety arms race.
My Lexus 2017 RC350 AWD f-sport weighs almost exactly as much as a ford edge. Not far off from 4,000 lbs Sedans and coupes have gotten heavy it’s not just SUV’s. Obviously the heavier the better off you’ll be but I’m just pointing out modern sedans and coupes aren’t exactly light on their feet either
Kind of a moot point considering the roads are full of dump trucks and 18 wheelers. These things are more of a halo vehicle and won’t move that many units.

5:08 63kWh / 100 miles the equivalent of 1.87 gallons of gas. Extrapolated that's 53.5 MPG! The Hummer H2 in its most efficient guise got just under 11 MPG highway - that's a nearly 5X improvement, and the performance is way better!
That's commendable that if anything, they give a cautiously low range estimate. Tesla, on the other hand, has gotten in trouble for stretching the truth about the range of its vehicles.
That's exactly what I did in April. I had the Cybertruck preordered and waited on it since Feb 2020. Finally decided in April to cancel that crap and buy this thing! I don't regret it!

That torque number is not accurate. I know that's what GM is reporting, but they're playing games with the gear ratios. I'm sure their actual torque number is outstanding, but incredibly lower than 11,500. It's ridiculous and false advertising.

I live in a 3 Phase 230v nation. Even with home charger on 3 phase and limited to around 11kw. It would still take overnight to max charge that thing. Bust just several hours if you only use had the range 140 miles, soo it's very daily useable. Too bad I won't be seeing one of those on the road anytime soon.
I'd like to have the thousand horsepower truck version, I really like that vehicle, they need to make a thousand horsepower SUV version as well and they should make a Special version that has titanium rims, carbon fiber hood and trunk and fenders and carbon fiber seats

Awesome, i grew up in a gear head family but i never understood the need to hold onto the internal combustion setup, most of my family including myself work on cars, but the average person doesn't, and doesn't want to, we don't like paying for fuel ad letting those prices rule us. It's great to have options, i'm all for electric everything, i was a fuel specialist in the military and i'm still all for electric everything, that was a dumb job anyways.
If they put a range extender ICE in the front, I would be on board tbh! I am sure the 2.7 I-4 from the Canyon and Colorado would fit under the hood and would be a perfect engine to use as a generator.

@@rexseven93 Holy crap you’re right. According to Car and Driver they multiplied the torque by the final drive ratio to get that number, the actual torque is closer to 700 or 800 lb ft. So they’re being intentionally misleading.
Agreed! I heard it is something with the tires. No one makes a higher speed rated tire in a 35” diameter that has the load rating that this monster requires. Because of that, they limit the top speed to what the tires can handle.

Where are you going everyday that requires 348 miles of range daily? If you need to road trip, go to a DC fast charger. Otherwise, this thing can add more than enough juice overnight for the typical American commute if they charge at him.

The gas version will be slower, louder, rougher, have infamous lifter problems and transmission problems and you can’t enjoy the accessories without wasting gas running the engine or draining the battery without rubbing it. Ev is better in EVERY way. Your mind is stuck in “horse and buggy” world.

I was ready to take the braking distance of a heavy vehicle like this to task. But 130 feet from 60 mph is not that bad.

1.6 miles per kwh is very bad. My Outlander PHEV averages 2.7 and can get up to 3. I was hoping this would be more like 2.5 miles per kwh

Rivian is cheaper and a better fit for our lives, plus much more range.
