  • I follow the path and discover the history of one of Shropshire's most popular disused railways; it is a line which is remembered fondly by many rail enthusiasts. In part one I go to the Railway Museum in Bishop's Castle itself before returning to Craven Arms to walk the Onny Trail up to the first station at Horderley.

I suppose one reason this former railway is remembered because it avoided being grouped in 1923. It must have been fascinating to travel on: Your train stops and the loco shunts wagons on or/and off the train.

Just before you stopped the track crossed the river at an oblique angle on a flat bridge to the right of the footpath. The span was no longer there but you could make out the abuttments. I walked this same section in 2015 and got as far as that field before turning back.

I know someone who rode the train as a child. She used to travel on the train to the Long Mynd to pick wimberries.

Love your videos. It's great you find the time creating these interesting walks. Ps you look like Tony Robinson in some of your views. Keep up with the good work. :-)
