HA! I knew ALL OF THESE! Got you beat, Reda! The future is now! But seriously, thanks for doing these videos. Your dune videos in general are hugely helpful. I'm not sure if you mentioned this in just the bene gesserit strategy video or also in your "play correctly" videos, but you could mention in the next video that you do not need to "control" arakeen or carthag to make use of ornithopters. if you decide to ship units into any of those cities, you may use ornithopters during the immediately following movement. I overlooked this during my previous games (but played it correctly last time) and also saw MCDM not play that way (The host explicitly said you need to control either city to use thopters) Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but it might be useful information. Also, how do you stand on the bene gesserit + ally issue? Are BG advisors and ally forces allowed in the same regions?
I do cover this in at least one other video- probably easy to miss rules. As for allies- I am old school and treat advisors as described in the rules “no effect on game play; treated as if they are not there”.
By the way, regarding Fremen shipment and alliances with the Richese / Guild: 1. Fremen can still cross-ship using the Guild's alliance ability, correct? If they do so, can they still "bring out" the troops normally, or does the cross-shipment substitute their deployment action? 2. Can the Fremen use Richese's No-Field tokens? From the wording on the cards it seems that they can't, since the alliance card says "ship from off-planet", but if that's the case -- that means that the Richese literally can't give anything to the Fremen as an ally (unless there is a strategic advantage, if the Richese player owns a stronghold or something)...
Great vid, looking forward to the Truthtrance revelations! Could you go into more depth on the Fremen/Emperor Alliance concerning revival when it comes to free/paid/extra? Thanks in advance!
Revival limits are normally 3 total. Fremen free revival for their ally does not exceed 3 - it just gives the ally the same free revival rate as the Fremen. Emperor on the other hand can personally pay to revive up to 3 more forces for his ally, beyond the limit of 3.
Thanks so much for the clarification. This shows the potential for a very powerful alliance of card control and combat/revival supremacy. Thanks for engaging the community around this highly thematic game you obviously love!
@@jackredathewarp does emperor alliance revial +3 limit, and bene tleilaxu revival limit increase stack to 8 (3 + 3 + 2)? Or does limit advantage replace the other limit advantage?
Yes you can pay for an ally’s shipment. The original rules allowed for coexistence with ally, but the current FAQ prohibits this. I am hoping to one day see an update that allows the coexistence, but restricts advisors alone in territories from automatically flipping to fighters except at the start of the game turn.
I have a question regarding Atreides, lets say Fremen and Atreides are having a battle where Fremen can dial more. Atreides has a shield which is public information (was revealed in battle before) and Fremen have a lasgun. Lets say Fremed decide to gamble and play Lasgun then Atreides asks "what weapon you will be playing" can Fremen then by knowing that their weapon will be revealed just change their mind and say I wont be playing a weapon. So in essence the opponent of Atreides knows what will be revealed and he can play around that accordingly?
@@cannus1045 Atreides prescience question is asked while making battle plans, not after they are locked in. In other words, it’s “what will you play” not “what did you play”. Does Presciensce'd opponent reveal what exactly they changed after they changed their mind? Or just they say that I "changed the dial number" instead of saying specifically "I cranked it up from 3 to 5"?
If the Guild pays for an ally's shipment, the spice goes from the guild back to the guild right? he gives the spice to the ally, which pays it to the guild. Is that correct? Actually, I need to issue a retraction- as was pointed out to me, the designers did eventually decide that cross-shipment from reserves is ok for Fremen. I remember it was a protracted debate about where to settle. It’s complicated by the fact that they were also adamant that reserves are not a territory, which may rear its ugly head in the future, but there you have it. Ship away!!
