Great video as always, Hey Arnold before it got canceled eluded to Arnold’s parents being alive just lost in jungles. As a matter of fact it was the last episode, and it was planned to have a movie after that episode, but the show was canceled for whatever reason. At least we have it now though.

you can really feel how apollo has fun doing this, really nice seeing him doing some funny jokes on Rome 2 again
interesting fact: back in the ancient world, the Spartans (the “Lacedaemonians” as Herodotus called them) were famous for their reluctance to besiege settlements.

It makes sense, Sparta fielded relatively small, yet better trained, armies when compared to their city-State brethren. In sieges, a lot of work has to be done to even just contest the walls, even more when you look at early Greek city-state seiges. The most common tactic used early on was to build a dirt ramp supported by logs straight up to the wall, then fight like a land battle, such a tactic all but guaranteed heavy losses of the attacking army. While Spartan hoplites where far better trained, and typically better equipped, at the end of the day they where still normal men, a rock thrown from the wall onto the head of a Spartan soldier will still kill him. So, any protracted siege that had the Spartans on the assault would greatly disadvantage Spartan herself, who already struggled to field adequate numbers of men.
@@Mikalent yeah, you gotta also count the fact that they couldn’t move too many troops from Sparta, because they hard to watch over the slaves, that were very likely to revolt.
But they did besiege Athens for 1 year to starve them out, ending the Peloponnesian war

Besides that, this was a great seize battle, the idea of a roll the dice style debuff/nerfs made it quite unique

Camels were used quite a lot in ancient warfare, since they have some kind of real life bonus against horses. I believe horses either fall into disaray because of the smell of camels or because they're simply afraid, so horse companies couldn't hold their tight formations when charging against camels. Something along those lines anyway.

Love the random element to this, it's kinda getting to the point where a lot of the battles are samey and this ads just the right amount of spice ;D
For the final push, when the attackers went to that weak side and kept charging in glitched out pikes, I would have lead with the Elephants over there. Just crushed right through those 3 weak units and forced the defenders to scramble. Guess it didn't end up mattering, but they could have broken through on that flank so quickly if they hadn't sent in the pikes like that.
Kush was completely unfair in this battle. Look at that ratio. Also, I think 'can't fall back' is a crazy disadvantage compared to any of the others. That actually takes a huge amount of strategy out of your playbook. No one else had to deal with something like that. Having to deal with slightly less troops or slightly less versatile troops is not the same. One of the attackers should have been forced to move forward at all times, not allowed to hang back.
