I'm looking into purchasing this generation CTS. One of the big complaints I see everyone have is the touch controls for the volume/hvac. Now the HVAC I can totally understand, but like you, I set the temp and hit auto and other than occasionally having to manually engage the defroster (Northern Minnesota), I pretty much never have to touch HVAC in any car I own with an "auto" mode. For the volume however, when you're driving, you use the steering wheel controls, not the center stack. That's why they put them on the wheel, so you can leave your hands on it. It does take a little muscle memory to memorize where they are, but once learned, it's simple.

Very true. I traded the car last May for a pickup. The AWD system devoured the run-flat tires (even with rotations), but otherwise the car treated me well.

@@HilltownCT I'm not a fan of the tradeoffs on the run flats either, and I'm not sure how'd they do even with AWD here in MN.

@@durwoodrobison7800 The car was pretty much useless in the snow because of the poor ground clearance and, to a lesser extent, the tires. If I had kept it, i was gonna swap the run-flats for a traditional tire and jack 😎

I'm glad I ran across this video. I thought there was something wrong with my transmission. You definitely feel the transmission trying to find a gear when you are starting to pick up Speed. Glad it's the way it is (even though it sucks) and not my individual car

I just purchased a used 2016 CTS-20-T and I agree with your comments. Unbelievable power for a 2 liter four cylinder. Love all the tech stuff and the Apple CarPlay. Great sound system with multiple settings. Seat programming strange for the exit mode. I have never had to program exit mode on any car. My old 2009 Maxima you just turned it on and seat went back and steering wheel retracted and tilted up. You have to program in this car. Strange. Some of the menus for setup you have to search around to find what you want to set but very detailed. Like the programming of the display in front of the driver. Only issue so far that I have experienced is the sunroof shade has come loose and I sags on passenger side. Hoping this is a warranty issue. Reading this is common issue also in the SRX. Beyond that, I love the car!

These cars are still one of the most beautiful sedans even over a decade later after they came out & still better looking both inside & out than the current CT5 IMO. I agree that the rear styling could be more exciting, but the front end is absolutely gorgeous. My boss bought a lightly used blue 2019 CTS 2.0T with the light gray interior a few years ago, but I would go for at least the 3.6L V6 if I bought one of these cars. I currently drive one of its main competitors being a white on red 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport.

Since there are a lot of these w/ low miles near mint now under $20k a nice value for those that didn't want to take a 60%+ depreciation hit. One I saw was $58k MSRP new. Probably loses 2-3k yearly now in post-warranty depreciation, but avoided that 'gotta have a new car' hit is the wise financial move.

I bought a 2016 cts 4 with the 2.0 turbo as a car to commute to work. I paid 16k, its under 100,000k miles..its clean as a pin and a pretty body style...i grew up with my grandfather driving the big luxo yacht fleet woods. This little caddy is nothing like that big war boat . In sport mode its actually a fun car to drive...with the awd, its quick for what it is.
But its not a muscle car...it is peppy enough and in sport mode handles well enough to be a hoot on a mildly twisty road... so until i can afford a used ct5 black wing it will gave to do....btw at 6 foot 3 280 pounds..yes it is a spot narrow in the drivers cabin..
