Great video, saved me time and money after my daughters 2012 fusion's pump seized up and tore up the waterpump belt. I thought she was going to need a tow and get on the local shop's schedule, but this video helped me avoid that. I also replaced the main drive belt and thermostat while everything was drained and apart. Job was much easier than I expected.
Great video. Gave me and my 10 year old son the information we needed to do this in the garage one evening. Just one thing...you don't mention how to bleed the air out of the system. I almost overheated my engine when I got to the test drive portion. Not blaming you, just suggesting you add a note to the end of the video.
Folks, this only works on a '10-'12 Fusion, and not the '06-'09 models like the title says. Different water pump entirely. If you click on the water pump link in the description, that page will tell you exactly what it fits. TRQ, please change your title to reflect the correct model years.
You technically don't need to turn the crankshaft pully to put on the stretch-fit belt. You can put a zip-tie on the belt, and then "bump" the ignition to get it back on. I've done that myself and had no issues getting it back on.
There is 2 style water pumps for the fusion 3.0 engine. Make sure what you have 1st. My water pump is way different process than this. Style of water pump way different too. 2010 ford fusion 3.0
I had this belt to snap on me. 10 minutes after leaving a dealership for scheduled maintenance. Goes to show you how thoroughly the job was done. They wanted to charge me for towing and repairs which estimated at a 1000 dollars. Huh?!!! Not this guy. I just so happen to have some 550 cord on me and tied the new belt around the pully and started the car. Iffy? Slightly I guess, but it worked🤷🏾♂️
I don’t know my last comment post or not, but when I turn the thing behind the wheel to put the belt back on to the camshaft pulley, and the water pump is my car supposed to be a neutral I do not want to re time my car again I follow another video that I was wrong, I know years is cause amazing Can you please answer me like now great cuz I’m at that point right now.
I have a slow leak of coolant I’ve already change the thermostat housing and gasket with along burping the car if any air in the radiator I suspect when I pop the hood of my 2009 ford Fusion se the coolant stains the engine bay near the thermostat housing I looked at when the engine was cool and suspect it the water pump so I need to know because I will be diy this job thanks
There is a bleed screw at the highest point above the water pump/thermostat. Use a 1/4" allen/hex bit to remove the screw and then add coolant to the reservoir until you see it start to come out of the bleeder hole. (based on 2012 Fusion w/ 3L V6)
Check your hoses see if any of them are cracked or ripped. I’m literally replacing my whole water pump and back housing rn because of a cracked hose attached to the water pump
Greta video. But the fact you have to take the wheel off to turn the crank in order to reinstall the belt proves engineers need to flogged for their ignorant designs.

Blasting the hot air also get the coolant moving and helps rid of the air
Well done video, but you should note, that it is for the 3.0L engine, and not the 2.3L engine. That is important.
Many thanks. Excellent videos direct, to the point and no digression about last night's BBQ or the weather etc🥴
Thank you brother
Amazingly done video...however as I have found, I have the smaller 4 cylinder engine.
?
Thanks!

This does not apply to the 2009 fusion V6. More bolts holding on the pump

Do you by chance have the water pump belt part info? 😅
I had this belt to snap on me. 10 minutes after leaving a dealership for scheduled maintenance. Goes to show you how thoroughly the job was done. They wanted to charge me for towing and repairs which estimated at a 1000 dollars. Huh?!!! Not this guy.

Great video. Thank you so much
Is this the same procedure for a 2006 Lincoln zephyr
Thanks for the Info good job 👏🏼
thanks, video is quick and to the point
What is that pulley above the water pump and how do you replace it
Can you make a video of a 2015 fusion titanium timing cover reseal and timing belt?
Well done. There is an air bleed though.
Wow amazing.
That’d be great i meN
What’s the name of the other pulley the big one above the small water pump pulley?
Camshaft Pulley
Why not feed the belt on by using the camshaft bolt?
Would this me the same concept for the 2009 ford Fusion se 2.3 4cyl????
I have a slow leak of coolant I’ve already change the thermostat housing and gasket with along burping the car if any air in the radiator I suspect when I pop the hood of my 2009 ford Fusion se the coolant stains the engine bay near the thermostat housing I looked at when the engine was cool and suspect it the water pump so I need to know because I will be diy this job thanks
What engine are you working on? So frustrating
tengo uno y gual gracias por ser un buen mecánico as más video 😮
Why does my water pump have 8 bolts?
You should specify this the hybrid or 6 cylinder. Not the 2.5L 4c
Good video
For my 2008 Ford Fusion se v6 u have to take off the camshaft pulley and its a bitch to take off
Did you have to replace the back housing as well?
But how do I bleed the car?
There is a bleed screw at the highest point above the water pump/thermostat. Use a 1/4" allen/hex bit to remove the screw and then add coolant to the reservoir until you see it start to come out of the bleeder hole. (based on 2012 Fusion w/ 3L V6)
If I’m having a coolant leak and there’s spray inside the engine bay from the coolant would you suspect it’s the water pump ?
Check your hoses see if any of them are cracked or ripped. I’m literally replacing my whole water pump and back housing rn because of a cracked hose attached to the water pump
Good job
Could nice video but could have just put the belt on with the same zip tie and bump the motor
Or... You know... Place the belt before you hand start each of the 3 bolts for the pump, Lol!
Not with auto-start. It will turn over for several seconds as soon as you touch the key.
Thanks
Greta video. But the fact you have to take the wheel off to turn the crank in order to reinstall the belt proves engineers need to flogged for their ignorant designs.
Doesn't work for '08 fusion. You need to remove the pulley.
Good
Not a 2011 fusion.
