I have fond memories of John Denver songs played by my fellow junior Boy Scout leaders at campouts and while serving on Summer Camp Staff at Camp John J. Barnhart in the mid to late 70s. Thanks for bring back those memories.
This is excellent. I need to listen with headphones and get that D chord thing down. Every time I throw the pinkie down on the G then D string, I start hearing Ooh La La. Thanks for posting.
Met him in Aspen. Short powerful voice beautiful Lear jet named Annie's Song. Liked dirt bike's and MUSIC. IF you ever get a chance they have very nice memorial there. DOUG FROM DENVER
So I have been using these Capos by PAIGE they are fantastic and you can slide them up and down the neck without having to retune as the pressure is applied from the back with a thumb screw, They work great, check one out.
Players. Stick with JJ on all these covers and look up his Private Tricker vids. HE KNOWS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO LISTEN. (Yes. I am shouting) Thumbs crashing through the ceiling!
hey JJ I was just lookin around for a little Jimi and landed on Who Knows Man You went right at that D Pent and Was great I picked up my guitar after many years away Im sad over the fact I didn't stick with it . I know all the scales and so on Just my muscle memory and so on. We both know u put it down for a few days ad things slow down ..Lust want to say I love the stuff u lay down Keep it up Im sure you must enjoy just playin I know u have to have a group wish I could see u with a band
Had to make the choice back in 74 to go see John Denver or Alice Cooper didn't have the money for both. Picked Denver but didn't tell that to my friends Didn't want them to think I turned into NERD.
Yeah, in the context of the times, JD got this dweeby vibe attached to him, which I wholeheartedly bought into. I caught a PBS special about him a couple of years ago and was like, "damn... that's a LOT of really good songs, Mr.Deutschendorf." Which in the end is all that matters. Thanks for the rendition, JJ. Top-notch as usual.
You can tune it down before you put the capo on or after you put the capo on. That string is going to sound like an E once it's capo'd (as opposed to sounding like an F#).
excellent arrangement with the power chords. Only question, why are you playing D chord with thumb muted E string? Since its drop D tuning, I would think you want that bass.
@@jamesjames9275 I finally, after 60 years, figured out that when I turn my bass all of the way down I can wail with my thumb pick and it is balanced volume with my bare fingertips. I noticed that, too, and wanted to yell "turn your bass OFF". PS Of course JD played it on a 12 string.
Just one of the most perfect folk songs ever written. It's basically perfect.
I absolutely love watching you play this song. It amazes me how effortless you make it look! The tutorial you did years ago is the best.
Man the way the guitar booms at 0:57. Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful rendition of one of the best folk songs every written.

Exactly what I was thinking as well

Keep practicing. It took me quite awhile just get the pinkie riff down.
You are a great teacher man. Thank you very much for your time
I am soooooo glad to see you doing videos again. You’ve been missed my friend. I’m praying for your complete recovery. Thanks
Man that bird rings !! Thanks for this one, figured some things out finally 👍

LOVE this
Brilliant, I'd never have found those fill in chords. These songs sound so much better listening along with James. Thank you man ! Best Wishes.
Obviously an epic song, but also thank you so much for posting these videos--they've helped me so much! Appreciate it.
Beautiful song
Love your tutorials!!!
Trying to learn accompaniment. Next to impossible. This is very helpful.
Wow, Great!
Nice! I enjoyed this! Nicely done! Great tune and very well played. Congrats. :-)
There's an entire lesson just watching your right hand. You could set a metronome to it.
Thanks JJ.
Great job!

Totally agree. I've learned so much from both channels.

"Friends around the campfire, and everybody's high."
Serious? Amazing song construction.
That Gibson Dove tho
Somebody reintroduced me to this song recently after ignoring it for 40 years. I about crapped my pants.
I had the same reaction. All I can say is Wow!
Gimme a bowl of Grape Nuts and a bowl of weed and we're good to go.

hmm, I don't think you should have told US that!
I loved the way you wrote "nerd" with capitalized letters
OK I admit it I'm an old NERD
You mention the low E tuned to D. Is that before you capo making the note an E when capoed?

I thought it would sound too heavy. :)

Simple chords to rocky mountain high
Looks a little too challenging for me
