So many Australian and American men have had similar circumstances with an oppressive government and unappreciative women. I can hear and feel the anger and disgust in this man’s voice. I can also relate to him.
Enjoy life in the Philippines, sir.
And here is something you won’t hear back in Australia: Thank you for years of hard work and sacrifice

Nothing drives men East like Western women. And nothing decimates men like the Western legal system weaponized against them. SOOOO many stories like this. You get up over 50 and you look around at the men you've known whose lives have been destroyed. Including the suicides. Pensions gone, retirements destroyed, families shattered, businesses wiped out. I've seen 30 year olds try to end it, millionaires who had to watch their wives blow $500k at the casino (the woman never had to work a day in her life, but somehow half was hers. Now the tribal casino has it), a guy who had to split his military pension twice (why do they get remarried?) and I could go on and fill a book but you get the point.
I only lost $60k in my divorce. At the time I thought it was the end of the world and an incredible price to pay. It was pretty much all the equity in a home and everything else I had. The auctioneer said I had really nice stuff though. LOL. Now I realize that was nothing. I got off pretty cheap by most standards. I know men in their 60s STILL paying their ex wives WHO CHEATED ON THEM!
Good luck, mate. And yes, THANK YOU for doing your bit in making THE WHOLE FREAKIN' MODERN ECONOMY WORK! Solid guys hold up the whole world. Nobody cares though until we stop, then suddenly we're A-holes for not providing adequate service. Time to move on for so many of us.

Yeah. It is a pity whats happening to men in modern society. As much as some people hate the traditional settings, I bet it was more honorable when a man in his 60s who has been working that hard would relax next to his children and grandchildren, sharing birthdays, Christmas dinners and barbecues with family and neighbours. Sad. Sad. Sad. I always almost shed a tear when I see these situations. Then at such an age here we are starting from scratch in every area including relationships, dating like school boys. Yeah. Its pathetic

This was an excellent interview and it made me reevaluate my current situation. I live in Germany and have been working for the same company for almost 18 years now. After turning 50 I started to notice many changes, feeling out of place when it came to my responsibilities at work and the pressure of always having to keep up with everyone else regarding material things and status. The important part of the interview was when you talked about negative thoughts and that hit home. When I retire, I want to live and not just exist. I'll be visiting Mexico this year to see if it's for me but the Philippines is definately on my list for next year. Life is too short and with some planning and research I want to make some positve changes in my life. Keep up the good work, Mark.

Great interview and I congratulate The Australian gentleman for his open heart he has found.... Regarding Panglao, I did spend time there after buying a beach lot on the main Island, and it is definitely a tourist stop expensive and you get that local tourist attitude which is not really that warm.. I also know all the dirty little secrets On the island of Bohol... Within a few kilometers there were 2 foreigners that were murderedBy their wife's Filipino boyfriend.. On their property or in their home. And then a couple years after that my neighbor was broken into and his guests were held at gunpoint robbed and luckily no one was killed.. My overall feeling before I even knew of the Past murders, I feltThat foreigners were not really well liked ,and there was a certain resentment with some people there. That foreigners were not really well liked and there was resentment ...I saw the potential of the robbery with my neighbor and predicted that... it happened just a couple months after I was visiting there.. After voicing these facts which are simply reality you might find in the newspaper along with some others that were even worse and more brutal, as well as my in laws having 2 murder cases in the family, Violent crimes certainly do happen and the foreigner can definitely be a target since of course we are all rich haha.. So you can be aware or you can live like ignorance is Bliss..
From everything I hear I would have to say that Dumagette is a Safer and better choice where to live. Whereas Bo hol really does not have much to offer and could get boring rather fast.. As we know there is no perfect and there has been recent violent crime there as well.
The great attitude change an open mind really impresses me and this was a great interview to share thank you kindly..🙏🙏

We had a contract regarding the pension, we worked and paid and when our turn came we were to be looked after. Well, they lied. Your guest is caught between a rock and a hard place, in order to be eligible for the pension he must spend the 2 previous years before applying in Australia otherwise he will be ineligible. I'm 65 and sitting out the restriction, stuff them I paid, they owe. I am coming over on a receipt as soon as unvaccinated travellers are allowed in the country. In Australia if your been unemployed for 6 months & on welfare payments for 6 months you can apply for financial hardship & access your superannuation & get 10k. But they tax it and you get about 7.7k. Aussie government let people do this during covid to help financial strain. You didn't have to wait 6 months when covid came. It was straight away we could get to it.

    • @tralivingeasy9934

Aussie pension started at 65 in 2015 and has been increased x 1 yr since,,so one day you need to get to 75 to get a pension. You need to go back to Australia and stay there for 2 yrs..if you worked there for 35 yrs you get the full pension less assets.

Panglao is a small island to the south. It connects to Tagbiliran by two bridges. Tagb is where we all go for mall shopping and is about 20 minutes from the southern end of Panglao. Tawala is where Alona beach is right at the south tip of Panglao.

Mark is very lucky that his ex-wife didn't claim some (or all) of his superannuation. My ex-wife took around $180,000 AUD from my superannuation when we got divorced back in 2013. Thankfully, I've recovered what I lost, and will likely be moving to the Philippines when I retire in around 5 years ... maybe sooner, depending on how bad the impending global economic collapse gets.

Luckily he will probably have enough of his own superannuation to live off. But it is true, if he stays in the Phillipines, in order to collect his age pension, for which he has paid taxes his whole life, he has to live in Australia the 2 years before he is eligible (67yrs now). If he does get it he should be able to collect it and live in the Phillipines.
