Thanks for the interview. Very interesting. When I see those "Happiest Place" lists, I think, "Yeah, happiest place for those who really like Northern Europe". I an American in South Korea.
It's good to know he decided to live in the Philippines. After all, the Scandinavia is a haven of alcoholics. Happy? My Danish friends mock at the description. Getting drunk in Denmark is a way of life. Finland too has a good chunk of alcoholics in the world. To believe that Finland is the happiest country on earth is a big big mockery of that description.
Finland has a terrific educational system where the schools are actually run by the teachers and money is not wasted on administrators. The USA could learn a lot from them.
Winter will get a lot tougher in Norway in times to come. Our idiot politicians are sucking up to EU, which we are not a member of... Selling ALL our hydro power to the continent.. They will not return the favour when we run out power. All heating is now electric, due to pollution in the cities... We will freeze!
@@vestland3877 Taxes are ok for the social services that you are getting. Better deal than the US. Don't forget to add back sales taxes and mandatory restaurant tipping in the US. Housing prices are more affordable than most major US cities if compare the salary level of a similar level engineer or manager in the US vs the Scandinavian countries.
I was in Finland / Estonia last week. Nice country, Low population, Great outdoors, gloomy winters nature and it can be very cold in the winters. I was told literally no sun from October to Feb.
Ask him about sisu (IIRC). It's a special kind of Finnish bloody mindedness that allows you to defeat the Soviet's Red Army with a pair of cross-country skis, a rifle, and a contemptuous expression.
His story made me feel nostalgic about Helsinki. I was there in 2018 for a few days and met some really cool people. It is expensive but the social system is great. I was so surprised that karaoke is big there as well. Nature is definitely great but it is no joke dealing with Finnish winter...I understand why some of them seek the tropical sun. But alcohol seem to be a problem indeed...Friday and Saturday nights are a bit nosier indeed and the smell of alcohol are stronger during those days. Going back to Manila, I got a handful of some Finnish chocolates and gin! There's a huge difference in social dynamics - the personal space, the "inside voice" even if you are outside lol I guess calling it the Happiest country fits in terms of economic and social benefits but in terms of social dynamics, I think nothing beats the Philippines. There is a different sense of happiness in here - it isnt hard to comnect with people.
Hope all the expat that living in the Philippines will adjust our living standard not everything is available, need resourcefulness and adoptability in all the elements that they will encounter.God Bless our Motherland Philippines💪💪🇵🇭🇵🇭
Finland 🇫🇮 and all neighbors country know what Russia is . Great video 👍 Hopefully one day we meet and have 🍺 🇵🇱 welcome 🇫🇮and 🇸🇪 we are safer together.
Thank you Mark, the story of your success and happy liife there in my country, gives a positive hope to not only a foreigner in despair but to all of us..There's always light at the end of a tunnel, congratulations, you found yours already..I would definitely follow your channel.. God bless
The Finns have a really successful education system, but nobody wants to admit why! You have to be a very good graduate to be a teacher, and they do lots of long, whole class teaching. (Yes...I was a teacher!)
Do you know why filipinos loves foreigners ? Yes its true because filipinos are mix blood of europeans since spain and portugese and make families here in the philippines 🇵🇭😊
I've been dreaming of going to Finland too, but I am scared of doing it because for one, I am not Finnish and I am scared that I can't speak Finnish language. I am scared that one day I'll be finished too! :))
Nice and interesting interview vlog! 😍 Thanks for narrating the good and bad sides of living in our country and let the world know how lovely and lively life in the Philippines is. Looking forward to your next interesting interviews and/or posts. We wholeheartedly welcome you all here, come and visit Philippines soon! I love the statistic “highest after hours Violence.” Too funny. And of course, he has his priorities straight by buying a moto bike before fixing the tooth. I say leave the tooth missing because it has a good story behind it.
Hi, please don’t open a bar in the there my husband and I had a bar in Manila we lost that money and never got the money back we cop our looses and lived here now in Australia and settled here
Besides people drinking much in Finland,.....it is the happiest country😊 in the world. It's easy to get employment, and that's why they don't have high crime in Finland. The Finnish government takes care of their people living in Finland. As one knows, health care is excellent. I am a foreigner now living in Philippines, and will be returning to Finland soon, because I have my adult son,22 years old living and studying in Finland. Both my husband and I will be returning back. Living in Finland is more stable and secure for family life, whereas in some Asian countries, there is NO SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM. That is the harsh reality living in the Philippines. And to Tommi, it is good that you don't attempt to get married to your Filippina gf,.....you will save yourself a lot of "problems".
Miss Finland Armi Kuusela is the 1st Miss Universe (1952), got married to a Filipino Virgilio Hilario in 1953, they reside in Philippines and blessed with 5 children.
You should really make replacing that tooth a priority pal because the longer you wait the teeth beside the gap start growing in crowding the area making it worse
Finland was part of Sweden for centuries but in the early 1800's the Swedes lost a war with Russia and ceded Finland to Russia. The Romanovs made it the Grand Duchy of Finland and pretty much left it alone. In 1917 when the Russian revolution happened Finland declared its independence then in 1918 experienced a civil war. The Germans helped the Helsinki side win and Finland contemplated an alliance but when Germany had its own issues, Finland went ahead on its own and Lenin never contested its freedom. In 1939 the USSR (not russia) under Stalin invaded and defeated Finland, when Germany double crossed the USSR, Finland joined back in and hoped to get their land ceded to the USSR back, when the allies won the war Finland was doubled punished as it was fined and to date is the ONLY country to pay off its war reparations. Since WW2 relations have been stable and neither country has an interest in invading the other. Ukraine is another story as the west kept arming Ukraine and the nazi Ukraine army had 125000 man army set to invade the Donbass; it had also killed 14000 russians living there between 2014-2022. This is what the Russian "special operation " is all about. Not wanting to takeover Ukraine.
I have no idea and I'm sorry to point this out but the reality is why on Earth do so many people land in Manila that is the worst representation of the Philippines from the start point... Unless you are headed to the northern part of the Philippines for me Manila is the main place I want to avoid dirty noisy extreme air pollution and a lot of poverty besides it being the only place I've been scammed and followed and threatened, The chaotic airport Along with Along with The worst scam taxi driver's is enough to keep me away from there.. Always land in Cebu or now new International airport on Bohol, Unless you need immigration in Manila I would avoid it like the plague ! Hey just started my new TH-cam channel ..my challenges in survival and adventures including Riding my BMW's Scott's dialysis adventure 🙏🙏
People drink a lot and things get out of hand. Pretty normal stuff. And who else is there to fight, so Finns love to fight amongst themselves. It is easy to avoid however and apart from that nobody is going to bother you.
Actually in the philippines its nice to be a tourist only but to settledown for life is a BIG NO coz here is not convenient even some food and rentals or own land is cheap if you married to a filipinas but for retirement its better to look at other country from healthcare to transportation is sucks here!!and short term to live yes but longterm NO and besides its if you married to a filipinos they would like to go to your country than they will stay here in the philippines bec.of poverty
Scandinavia is high standard of living and low quality of life. If you are above middle income in Philippines and you live in a good/organized communities near good healthcare facilities (both national government and private hospitals), you can have both high standard of living and high quality of life. Suicide rate here in Scandinavia is higher. I have never met or know people in Philippines who committed suicide. In Norway tho, I am shock. Money and all these wonderful welfare system in place cannot really make people truly happy, especially those who are aware that there are more to life than what welfare can offer. This country. Norway, is like a prison for me. Hopefully, my partner can retire early and so we can go back to Philippines, as my life in Philippines is already settled as I still have my business and investments there. Living here in Scandinavia, as above middle income Filipino, is really a sacrifice. To be happy in Scandinavia, you need to exert a lot of effort. In my opinion, it does not come naturally, and if it does not come naturally, then you are not really truly happy and I think that is the reason why many people here can easily go down the bottom (depression). Whilst in PH, being happy comes easily or naturally: from people, communities, culture, nature, etc. I do understand some middle income and below income Filipinos want to move to western countries, mostly all about money (income). I do like the Scandinavian Jante Loven (Do not think you are better than others) which makes Scandinavian countries a flat society structure, which can be hard to explain to Americans, Filipinos, etc. - From Norway
To the americans watching , socialized medicine in countries like finland, sweden and canada is NOT FREE. Nothing is free because the cumulative taxes that one must pay is horrendous. Also the waiting times to have an operation, for example, could be many months or longer. No system is perfect but to glorify socialized medicine as the greatest thing since sliced bread is laughable.
OK come on yeah I thought you were referring to United States and I was going to dramatically disagree people in America these days are miserable I came back from Asia after a year and all I can see is depressed big oversized overweight sad faces how I missed the happy faces that I knew in Asia and my own face has changed...The only Finish person I have met indeed was pretty light and happy If you're the only one that looks happy probably they label you as psychotic Lol 🙏🙏
Philippines the happiest country in the world. Philippines friendly and loving People in the world.
I agree
Gotta love this guys accent! He reminds me of the "uppers here in northern Michigan's Upper peninsula.
True.
Life without DIFFICULTIES N challenges is the most boring life to EXPERIENCE
I could do without though
Not if U R over the age 60. Who needs challenges and difficulties at that age.
2nd home Philippines for you.and inlove my country thank u sir for loving Phil...😆👍❤️🏝️🐬🦈🐟🐠 finland is so peaceful country as i knew and beatiful😄👍👏👏🙏
LIKE HOW HE PRONOUNCED "PLACES" & SIMILAR WORDS 😃
Thanks for the interview. Very interesting.
When I see those "Happiest Place" lists, I think, "Yeah, happiest place for those who really like Northern Europe".
I an American in South Korea.
he traded the happiest place to the most fun place.
It's good to know he decided to live in the Philippines. After all, the Scandinavia is a haven of alcoholics. Happy? My Danish friends mock at the description. Before the wall came down in Europe every European was as informed about global politics as this guy.
Thanks, Mark, I enjoyed that interview, decent, hardworking and down-to-earth guy.
good wishes to you good fellow
Finland,. Norway, Denmark and Sweden are awesome places, however it is tough to live there in the winter :)
True
How high is the divorce rate in Nordic Countries? Is the Alimony as bad as taxes?
Very expensive beer and other alcohol drinks... 😜

Good video thanks

"I spend a lot of time in bars so why not drink my own beer". Yup that's a sound business plan.
very cool interview. Thanks.
67 years old just like here in the USA you have to wait until you reach that age….✌️👍👌
Do you know why filipinos loves foreigners ? Yes its true because filipinos are mix blood of europeans since spain and portugese and make families here in the philippines 🇵🇭😊

Nice video Mark.. Enjoy watching all your videos..
He looks like a younger version of "Kumander Daot" channel. Good conversation. Thank you.
Very cool guy! Nice interview.
I hope he'll get his kids learning Finnish early. Harder to pick up a second language the older you get. Easy for kids.
Nice and interesting interview vlog! 😍

Finns never seem to want to talk about the Nazi Germany alliance during the continuation war of WW2.
Hi, please don’t open a bar in the there my husband and I had a bar in Manila we lost that money and never got the money back we cop our looses and lived here now in Australia and settled here
There's an old joke. "The only thing that can subdue a drunken Norwegian fisherman is a drunken Finnish fisherman". 😂

I have 12% Finnish DNA - don't know how did I got Finnish dna I'm Asian.
I want to see him dive in Surigao straight -- PHILIPPINE DEEP 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Finland has a very special feel to it. But there isn't a whole lot there.
Finland was part of Sweden for centuries but in the early 1800's the Swedes lost a war with Russia and ceded Finland to Russia. Why in the hell is Finland the happiest country in the world 🤔🤔🤔
the philippines will one day have a lot of mix white race in a not so distant future
Surprised he doesn't take advantage of the cheap dental opportunity there.
