Living in the Philippines is not for everyone but for those Filipinos as always when they retired they went back to the Philippines because the life in the Philippines is too far to compare than living in the foreign land. As planned when i retire early since I have only 2 more years and 4 months to wait then i will leave the USA. I like to live in the province where my parents lived and the property is facing the ocean which is very peaceful and quiet with fresh air , fresh seafoods and fresh vegetables plus with coconut trees, and banana trees around the property. Im looking forward to go home and experience a life in the Philippines.

I love my life here in the Philippines. I love the family atmosphere here. I found a good woman and we dated over eight years before I asked her to marry me. Been married now four years. Hi Mark. Good evening all the way from Chicago, USA. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines and emigrated here for economic reason. I was petitioned by Roseland Hospital as a nurse after passing nursing exams and interviews. I'm happy for turning your life 180 degree. I think Philippines is undiscovered, under represented and simply put it underdog. Philippines has a lot of things to offer to expats like you. A lot of people speaks English to start with. We welcome Americans and any other foreigners that come to visit or live in the Philippines permanently. I too with my family are thinking of going back home to live there. Thanks for sharing your life. I'm sure a lot would find it helpful in battling loneliness, desperation and helplessness. God bless. "Mabuhay".

When you come from a foreign country, especially, the US, and come to the Philippines, you can see how fortunate you are when you see the standard of living here compared to yours. You can never be depressed about yourself here coz even though, mostly, people here are poor, they know how to entertain themselves. People here are very social and hospitable to tourists. Will make you smile and laugh. Oh yeah for sure, Filipino people knows that laughter is the best medicine.

No matter how hard life gets on the low road of life, with time and fortitude and few words of hope ,and a small push from our fellow man being a stranger or not can get us all back on the high road of life ...Seen it many times , I find material things and being brain washed into consumerism is like chasing \the dragon / I respect and thank you for your words of encouragement to all those that need that boost of confidence ...

Hi Mark, new to your vlogs. I was raised in Bacolod City, perhaps you'd been there. Had been out of Philippines 36 years, living in Southern California. Also a retired army reservist, spent 27 years with deployments in middle east. Evaluating to going back in Negros, I am worrying about safety here in the US. Violent crimes keep on rising. So may incidents were people of Asian decent had been beaten or harassed. It seems not the America I known before. Not 62 yet so not in SS pension but with VA and army pensions. Also doing online teaching, its a trade school, teaching electrical theories, codes and building electrical system. Thank you, appreciate your updates.

I’m so glad I got out of my comfort zone… within a few years we travelled big chunks of SE Asia. How many people can say they’ve lived 2 or more cultures, in one life time. That’s what drove me to decide to build in the Philippines. Love your channel… don’t often chime in but this video resonates with me.

Isn't it Amazing that most of us work 30 or 40 years to achieve what you did in 3 years and in a foreign country!! I used to laugh at people who stressed out about paying high cost bills just to show they had something bigger and newer. It was obvious to me that was not making them happy. People need to start thinking different about money and "stuff" and just enjoy this life. I am happy that you and Jen found each other - just like I found my Filipina. And she makes me happy just looking at her and just holding her hand. We all deserve that but need to realize - these are the simple pleasures we need to enjoy!!

A very honest and interesting story.
I was once a US Peace Corps volunteer as a young college grad assigned to a provincial town in Cebu for two years. That connection led me to a marriage to a Filipino from my town, and we have a a wonderful son. We had a marriage and a
happy life in the US for many years, but the pull of the Philippines was always there. The Philippines has been lucky for me too, and after a leap of faith, we're living here permanently for eight years now back in Cebu. I can't imagine ever living anywhere else for the rest of my days.:)
Glad that your leap of faith worked out well for you Mark, in spite of some issues early on.
With the right attitude and an open mind, The Philippines might be just the right fit for some folks. Circumstances for everyone might be similar or different from your own, but it's a great option to explore I think.
