Hi Nick, I have a Sony BRAVIA 55 A1E 55 inch OLED TV with Color Issue. It has burn in on the left side and a color issue near the middle with yellow. is it fixable ?
I have a sony oled, and replaced the power supply and its still showing no signs of life. We have since purchased a thermal camera and the main board processor shows heat. No heat on the eMMC chip, not sure if its meant to generate heat? Would that mean an EMMC issue as well?
Another MMC replacement you said!? is this problem very common should I avoid this TV set? Because there is a Facebook listing near me saying that the TV won't turn on the price is very attractive and I was thinking about buying it but now after watching this video I'm not sure about it anymore
I would buy it in a heartbeat if it's at a good price. This TV has an incredible picture. Yes, the eMMC chip most likely will need to be replaced on the mainboard to fix it, but that is worth doing. One thing you can do once you get it fixed is to not use the smart features on the set but instead use a 4k firestick with the TV. This will reduce the load on the eMMC chip and put it on the firestick instead which should allow the TV to work for a longer period of time. That's how I use my TV at home. Plus we do put brand new eMMC chips on the mainboard so it would be as if it was brand new and you get a 1 Year warranty on all repairs. If you have any questions, fill out the form on our website, there is a link to it and our contact info in the video description.
I would like to know how to remove the top part of the plastic cover on the back. I'm disassembling the 55A8F, but I can't remove the top part of the cover, so I'm having trouble.
I don't have a video for the back cover removal on this model specifically but I think it's similar to this TV back cover removal for the 77A80J linked below: th-cam.com/video/PbDBd6NNJfk/w-d-xo.html Let me know if this video helps
Hey Nick, Thanks so much for these videos. I am currently trying it on my XBR 55x850D. I've seen few videos now and it seem like you jump to the EMMC chip if everything else looks okay. The voltages look okay for myself as well so I'm leaning towards the same thing. My TV used to boot loop, but now it makes no image and the screen flicks on quickly and dimly at 7-10 sec intervals. Is my best hope trying to replace this chip as well? Thanks
85% - 90% of the time the EMMC is the fault when it comes to the XBR Sony sets. It's just good practice to rule out some of the other parts first. We do offer a flat-rate repair service for it, and my guy has over 1,000 of these Sony board repairs under his belt. He will get it right the first time. If you want to send it in for us to fix, check out our listing linked below: nickselectronics.com/products/xbr-55x850d
I don't know if that's possible. Typically a 4 blink is the panel which means you have to replace the screen, but that's not financially viable. It's less likely but sometimes the LED driver can fail and cause a 4 blink fault.
@@NicksTVRepair thanks for taking the time to respond to my question and I will be looking forward for more of your videos that are definitely entertaining and informative 👍
Came across this video, my 55 a8f isn't powering on and I think power fluctuation that has been happening since last couple days is the main culprit. Want to know if we found the power supply board is faulty, what will be the cost of its replacement? I'm not from America so unfortunately I can't make the purchase or repair from you guys.
If you have an XBR-55A8F then you can send in your boards for repair regardless of where you are in the world. Shipping will be a bit more expensive but will still be well worth it. We have fixed circuit boards for people in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. 99% of the time the faults come from the mainboard. I have never seen a power supply fail for this specific model. at least not yet. Power fluctuations usually are due to the mainboard sending bad signals to the power supply. I wouldn't know more for sure unless you sent out the parts for servicing but in my experience, it's almost always the mainboard.
@@NicksTVRepair does measuring stand by 3.3v and 12v voltages, 100% assure the power supply board is fine or do we need to check anything else? How can we ensure TCON board is functioning correctly to isolate the problem lies 100% in the main board?
I am sorry but it's just not realistic for me to give 100% guarantees when it comes to troubleshooting a board especially if I am not checking the board myself. With that said, the odds are high that if you are getting your standby and 12v yes your power supply is working. As for your T-con, it does not control the TV's ability to power on or off. The TV can power on and off even if it's removed from the circuit. If you want to be sure, you can disconnect it from the circuit and try powering it on. If you still can't power on, then to me it would tell us the mainboard is the cause of the fault.
i have a kd-65a9g that just died on me, no led, no red flashing light, i've tried the different soft and hard reset, neither is working, i'm wondering about the power bord or processor board for replacement, if i can find a one for a good deal but it is a bit harder as i am in the philippines, just wondering for those symptoms is the tv fixable at a reasonable price or is it just dead no, it is a 2020 model, it was a demo model so i got it for 40% off in 2021 has been great until it just went black no warnings. thanks for any tips or help if you can. i am pretty tech savy and can do a decent amount of work myself too.
Hello sir..I have the same tv and the main board burnt by the lightning. So I odered new main board from aliexpress and it's working but no Netflix and youtube. I tryed to chenge location but didn't work. Do you have any solution for it?
Not to fix the native apps, you will need to just use a Firestick, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, or any other type of device that can access those apps via wifi. Also, can you link me to the ALiexpress listing you purchased for the replacement mainboard? I am curious as to where you got one. These are not available anymore, or at least that's what I thought.
I have two of these that just went out due to lightning. I'm in Pittsburgh. Is there anything that I can do like send you out the circuit board etc to have it repaired?
Nick. I have an issue with my SOny oled XR-77A80J , I will describe symptons and see if you think or know how to troubleshoot issue ? first off ,I plug in TV and I hit power button.. it starts up and is at the home menu screen but after like 30-40 seconds tv would shut down and I would have 4 blinking red lights. so I removed back cover and was testing voltage with multimeter and everything looks good where I tested... Standby voltage , 12v to tconn board and what not I even tried to ground out the BL_ERR pin at the power supply and still get the 4 blinking red lights... after I disconnected some connections on the TCON and power supply and mainboard and reconnected everything.... TV starts up and has been up for 10-20 minutes no issues.. but I do notice that it shuts down. but this time no red blinking lights... its almost like someone pressed the power down button. I go and press the power button TV starts up no issues and stays up. for another say 10-20 mins... do you know what could be wrong if anything? is it going into sleep ? or overheat and shut down ?
I have heard from other techs that for this model they have seen the Power supply, and LED driver board cause this fault. It is most likely no longer showing the blink code because your grounded the BL_ERROR line. If you remove that it will start showing the blink code again. Try turning the TV on, and then lower the led brightness all the way down. See if it stays on for longer. If they do, then it could be due to the panel going out. (this would be bad news) It's possible you have cracked solder joints either on the power supply or LED driver board. This would be the best case scenario as it would mean you either need to replace one or both of those boards or have them fixed.
@@NicksTVRepair I actually plug back the BL_ERR pin back into the socket and no longer grounding it. so far no longer getting any blinking error code. but TV does shut down after 10 mins of being on. can something be overheating causing it to shutdown ? if testing the led driver board what should I be testing ?

Hi Nick, I have a Sony BRAVIA 55 A1E 55 inch OLED TV with Color Issue. It has burn in on the left side and a color issue near the middle with yellow. is it fixable ?
Burn in is not something that can typically be fixed on OLED TVs that I am aware of. Sorry
@@NicksTVRepairThank you for the update.
interesting video, i had the same problem but i don't have the firmware to that model, do you sell the sony firmware, because is the same model.

That's typically going to be a panel fault. Can't fix those unfortunately. In very rare cases it's the power supply but most often it's the panel.
