Definitely up there - very very underrated band - Otway and Barrett were up there as live entertainers back in the day too - saw them in London Drury Lane - only concert I’ve been to where 5he audience refused to leave at the end after three encores and lowering the fire curtain - in the end Otway came out and said thanks for your support but ffs go home - got a huge round of applause then we all left but best live band was the Who for sure
my dear late brother Jeff loved him, and we played this at his funeral as we left the cremitorium it was so fitting... Really a Sensational group. Thanks Alex for the music.
that period between about 72 and 76 there was some unique music and some great bands , but it is a bit forgoten in music history because everone was doing their own thing rather than taking part in some movement, like progressive, psychedelic, punk(all seem to start with P) etc in OZ we had the coloured balls, skyhooks, AC/DC....in the UK there were such bands as SAHB, stackridge, Dr Feelgood ...just unique bands, an interesting period
@@nondescripthandle212 I've been a fan since the 70's. and of all things glam too. That's why I don't believe they are glam. and in fact, I've never heard them referred to as glam other than here. I also know that their hard core army of fans in the 70's were rockers, definitely not glam fans
Magical. That's performance art at its musical best. What great minds they had and big Zal should definitely get an Oscar for all his acting parts on stage. Facial expressions speak better than words.
@@stargazer6675 yeah, I agree , nothing pretentious with Alex , what you see was what you got , he loved the theatrical side of performing. Pure Genius ☘️
went to Stoke city football ground in 1975 to see Yes and SAHB were on the bill they whipped up the crowd so much Yes never stood a chance most of the crowd were chanting "bring back Alex" while Yes were playing
Best band ever, was lucky to see them a good few times in the 70's. Fast forward to 2019, I caught Zals Sin Dogs a few weeks ago, they were fucking awesome, a force of nature, ZAL you are a rock God!! Catch them while you still can..
Extremely popular in the Cleveland area first song I heard from S.A.H.B was Gang Band from my dealer friend with the killer Marantz Stereo system and speakers,it got cranked I know that boy I miss being 19 years old 😎✌️♥️🎸🌈🍺🍻
I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast - it made me laugh because I thought the kids there wouldn't have a clue - theyw ould all have been going "What the F**K is this?!" lol I loved it and went out and bought the single
interesting thing about this is if it was labelled as some experiemental art theatre group most folk would dismiss it as poncey middle class pretention...but because its from a band with a wild and tough image as rock n roll Glasgow lads...its loved. Just shows you what labels do.
Who are these bloody people that give a thumbs down,if ya don't like it can't you just leave it as that, anyway you are dead now and you were definitely,a performer, you probably were not the nicest geezer to meet on the street, but you were definately a performer.

Being a fellow Glaswegian I believe I have a duty to spread the wonder of Alex to those that haven’t heard of him. I done a bit when I lived in Birmingham and now I’m down south in Bristol, unfortunately my son was born here but he will be taught about his heritage, hard one though, his mother is Jamaican & a lot younger, his musical influence is gonna be wide & varied, 🏴🇯🇲, that’ll do it 😎
Yes, unfortunately they plays no longer. In fact here in Italy no one knows and its difficult find some album or cd in music shop. I dont know nothin about they career and i would like know about it or they life. I casually discovered sahb this year, i cant understand how they're little know a band with artists so good. @@danielenegroarrotino Hello! I just discovered this wonderful band this year. There's much information about SAHB on in social media. Facebook page for Friends of SAHB and also there are Documentaries here on TH-cam plus you may listen to all of their music.
Had a few drinks with Zal in the Clutha bar and the Scotia bar in Glasgow a few years ago. Chris Glen, Ted Mckenna & Alex Harvey Jnr were there also. great night!!
I hadn't seen this one before! Thanks so much for posting. SAHB never took themselves too seriously, and were never scared to try something different. Fantastic band, brilliant entertainers.
Oh my god this is what I remember as a 7 year old and I fucking loved it!!!! Can't imagine my kids watching class like this , we truly have dumbed down kids music and what a shame!
You have to admit,he had so much stage presence...I dont think Alex will ever be beaten..Fantastic Group..!!!!
Pretty good to
And Zal.
don't see this anymore

Mad as hatters ,beautiful
There was nobody like them, totally original!✌🏻🇬🇧
Nobody like them ... thank God
This band were just fantastic and like no other. Still sounds great forty years later.
We have nothing like this now and we are the poorer for it.a true talent oh my god how I miss the 70s
I agree some amazing talent in the 70’s, your right there’s nothing like that now.
Me to.
it was the greatest decade of music of the 20th century I don't think one can argue otherwise.

simply the best
Awesome live band, one of the very best

Love SAHB. Not sure why they are being referred to as 'glam rock' though. I think they were impossible to categorize.
How about 'Hard Rock Vaudeville'?
Pub rock kabuki ?
Look at them, thats glam

yeah, fuck that its not really glam, just an original creative theatrical rock band
Zal Cleminson as robot, just great!
Just when you thought he couldn’t get creepier 😳
Written by the great country blues singer Jimmy Rodgers sometime in the 1930s I believe.
Chris makes a very cute gal!
Great band! Obviously, very theatrical. It appears that many artists influenced them and were influenced by them as well. Great stuff!!!
What we call now,
An Arthouse Band?
Alex was a big influence on Bon Scott. And we all know how good Bon was.
His band members take a lot of credit & were much more than musicians.
Indeed, especially since when they were a band prior to Alex, they were straight hard rock musicians...not actors!
Alex Harvey....brilliant timing....great artist.
Seen them doing this at the 1975 Xmas shows at the old Apollo my first ever concert magical night wonderful band

When Nick Cave started out he was very influenced by SAHB.
My Beloved Sensational Alex Harvey Band, The Greatest Band of All Time.
Alex Harvey and Tony Ashton the two best and most underrated entertainers/performers ever...

The Sensational Alex Harvey Theatre Company. They always gave a great show.

Sadly never got to see them live. Bet it was a riot.

awesome song amazing performance, Alex at his best! r.i.p. we shall miss you.
Also Ted and Hugh, Keith. All the best. R 🍻😎💚
This is hilarious. This is an old Jimmie Rodgers tune from 1932.
Sounds like it is derived from the Unfortunate Rake/St James Infirmary line of blues...
I seen them live in the Apollo Glasgow 1976 best gig ive ever been to
the bestest thing to come out of SCOTLAND for years
Besides HAGGIS!
Saw them in Brighton in the 70s. Probably the best performance of any band I have seen since what a performer !!
It's not bad but they're no Take That.
