    I think the mission that starts when a player first launches the game set the tone perfectly. When I read “you are not expected to survive” my adrenaline started pumping. The immersion is absolutely incredible. I actually felt like my character was just another soldier in a destructively massive war. Part of what made BF1 great WAS the gunplay. The spread mechanics meant that the average engagement distances were shorter so people with large capacity automatic weapons usually had to play up close and the maps also catered to more infantry focused areas.
    Squeezing that much infantry into a smaller areas and well defined channels without the threat of a vehicle coming and wiping everyone out (other than the Muromets) meant more gunfights, more chaos, add the incredible sound design and you have your "atmosphere".
    Brilliant game design. the aiming felt responsive. The aim assist was a LITTLE too strong at launch, which they toned down eventually and it feels perfect now. I also cannot stress enough how GREAT the map design was
    Regardless of what you prefer with regards to the gunplay, you could see that it was a labor of love with a clear vision of what it was trying to be, while also staying true to the Battlefield formula, and they worked HARD to make a well designed, polished game with relatively few bugs at launch. There wasnt this back and forth, trying to cash in on the latest trend and abandoning the core philosophy of what made BF great like 2042 had or trying to cater to the sweat-lords who said BF1 was too "casual" (read as fun) so they create this pointless hardcore lite experience in BFV.

      @aveteranplayer6403 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The spread I found it annoying but I'm getting that the fact I not killing as many as I should be killing is because of the ping. So often I find myself shooting at enemies and not finishing them so it annoys a little bit, is more about from what server I'm currently playing than the game design itself

      @GS-vb3zn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really well said. You’ve channeled my thoughts on the game. I think the gunplay was perfect for BF1. Random bullet deviation and spread made it much more realistic as a war shooter. During the World War I era rounds were packed by hand, the amount of gunpowder could be over or under, the bullet may not have been set as precisely in the casing leading to a random bullet deviation during use. Personally I thought there should’ve been random gun jamming somewhere between every thousand to 1500 rounds that you shot.

    • @famalam943

    *What i would've liked however, is the more old-school type of warfare that actually happened in the settings. The trenches, the over the top charges, the bolt-action rifles, having to cross a hell-hole of mines and barbed wire, in which one misstep would be the death of you. BF 1 is fine as it is, one could even say perfect, but it came short on the realism, but perfection in the immersion.*

I used to love Battlefield, but now I'm pretty disappointed with what EA has done with the franchise. Many BF fanboi still try to defend BF2042, they say that BF will be better later on but the truth is that BF2042 is not like BF4, Specialists mechanism has killed BF2042 since Beta. If old games like BF4 or BF5 are bad in only one aspect, BF2042 is bad in all respects, bad gameplay, bad graphics, bugs and I hope the community will boycott this trash.

    This game has a special place in my heart. During the pandemic unfortunately I happened to stay alone and couldn't visit my parents since they were in a different country & my mental health kept deteriorating day by day. That's when I came across this game on steam and decided to give it a try ( it was my first multiplayer game ) . Believe it or not , this game never made me feel alone and coming across various people in different private servers, every single day made me feel lively. Also, it helped me develop a fervour towards historical battles fought between countries during WW1. Never was a game developed so good and immersive. The gorgeous looking maps , shock operations, hit-reg sounds, character physics and what not. Thank you Battlefield 1, always grateful ❤️
    Edit : Amiens was a map on a whole new level.

    TBAG, you are so right about how they should have used BF1 as the template. Imagine if BFV was built as a successor to BF1. If only they did the same gritty immersion and attention to detail. BF1’s lighting and sound design made the maps beautiful. The weapons were unique and fun to use. The music inspired you to push forward and capture the objective. And the codex was a historical work of art. BF1 was the pinnacle of video game design.

    BF1 is the only battlefield I have consistently come back to. This is still one of my favorite FPS games to play. The weapons feel impactful and they all feel like the strange solution to combat the new weapons of the 20th century. And then there’s the immersion. Between the quality of the lighting and explosions to the sound design has me feeling so immersed. When I start getting shot at by mortars and tanks I FEEL it. I can hear the bullets wizzing by and the explosions actually stress me out but In the adrenaline rush kind of way. The brutality of the deaths and the harshness of the melee kills just adds to it. And there is absolutely nothing like seeing an airship or heavy bomber slowly approach your objective before raining hellfire on you. This game is amazing

I did not even finish Single player mode in BF4, because it is just broken (part where you have to save yourself from the sunken ship, i always drawn, there is a bug where you can not pass it, you need to "cheat" a little bit, but i am just too lazy to even look for the solution).

    Sniping in BF1 was perfect. You actually had to hide and be aware of the sun's location to prevent scope glint.
    Only problem I had were the use of experimental weapons or weapons that weren't even used in the war itself like the annihilator.
