Really happy with the neewer lights that i got (660 with round softbox and 530rgb), thinking about expanding more so... Just not sure to add 660rgb or keep uniformity and get another 530rgb. Thanks again for your vids, really helpful!!!
Hey Testiee!!! You nickname always makes me laugh (not in a bad way). Interesting case. Not sure what I would do. I only had one 660 RGB and I like it so much that I bought the second unit just weeks ago. Thanks for watching!
@@OttoJulian_ LOL thanks, just a play on words for my gaming account. Appreciate the laughs! Yeah I'm in no rush, so if the 660rgb goes on sale I will then pick it up. If not I'll prob just get another 530rgb. I'm totally OCD when it comes to uniformity like that lol
Hello! For the backdrop they are perfect. For a model, it depends, if you need it to be used as a key light, I feel like there are better options out there (cob lights with a round softbox)
Hi Otto thanks for the great informative videos in your great channel Did you make a video for the RGB lights you use for your background and what is the color of the wall?
I haven't made a video about my background yet, It was moved for a later date but then I never did it in favor of other videos. I have 2 backgrounds but the one I use the most is a light silver one
Another great one Otto! Sorry I didn't watch over the weekend, I was lucky enough to get to go fishing on Saturday, and yesterday I had to crank out four videos that I can schedule to publish while I'm out of town the rest of the week. Question- can one of these replace a regular light that's in a big soft diffuser box? I have one similar to this Neewer but I only use it for a fill light.
Hello Your demonstration about neewer 660 RGB lights was very good Many thanks for you . Are you sure that i can use 1 or 2 battery in the same time because as i watched many you tubes about lights and they all need to put 2 batteries together to light That is why i liked this one I am waiting for your replay Best regards Cameraman Zouhair
Thank you. Seems like the Neewer 660 will output more light due to the fact that it has more LED bulbs than the GVM800. (Total of 660 vs 500). I would go with the one with more bulbs, everything else is almost the same with these companies
Im so new at this. I was wondering about your professional opinion. What do you think about the GVM RGB 800D vs Neewer 660 RGB ? They are both very similar. Was wondering which one you recommend?

I kniw the ML60 is a more powerful light but the 660 is a more versatile set. I'm not 100% sure what I'll end up filming. In what cases would you recommend the ml60 and the 660?
Hi. Yeah it's hard in the beginning. If you are starting out, and you are doing interviews, MY personal recommendation would be a COB led, like the Ml60. You will need to buy a softbox to make the light softer. I started my channel and video journey with an SL60, after that I invested on the RGB units. Yeah they are versatile and the RGB is great, but I would go with those other options first
@@OttoJulian_ I really appreciate this. I almost got sucked into having more lights over functionality and use. I think I'll go this route. ML60 and then see what I need once I get busy with it.
Thanks Otto! Great review. Quick question: what applications would you use the Neewer 660 RGB lights vs the Aputure MC? I’m trying to get an RGB for my video creation, but wasn’t sure which would be a good place to start. Do you use one more than the other? Also have you compared the Neewer 660 RGB with the GVM 800D? Thanks!
hi Paul! The Aputure MC is quite small, haven't made a proper review of that light but I would use it for product photography if you need to add color, very small and portable and has a built in battery. The Neewer 660 RGB will do for product photography and more, I've used them to light a background and half the power. They are bigger, not so portable (not too heavy either) and will run on batteries that are not included (I use AC power 95% of the time). I don't have that GVM 800D, but I've seen the specs, and they are quite similar, but the Neewer have been working fine, several hours every week for quite some time now.
@@OttoJulian_ Awesome super helpful! If I’m looking to use it for TH-cam videos, would you say the Neewer would be more practical and useful in more applications? Many thanks!!
Hello Gary. If it's a talking head like what I usually do then it might be ok, I have used it with something on the other side to bounce some light back
Hey Otto! It looks like the light I have bought (only mine don’t have several colours). I didn’t know that the batteries were so cheap! That’s very interesting ! hey Celine, not sure why this went to the spam folder. TH-cam sometimes is strange! LOL Yeah, this RGB are my favorites, I bought the second unit just recently and they are very versatile. Now I wonder which aputure light you have. Have you ever made a review on them? you should!
Hi! It will depend on your specific needs, but I do prefer this ones than the bi-color version just because I can also get the RGB when I need them. The white and tungsten are just a bit less stronger than the bi-color. If you need the maximum non rgb output possible then the bi-color is probably the best choice
@@OttoJulian_ sorry. Just saw this moments after... thanks. Last question. With the lights. How simple is it to have them just white. Or warm white!? I’ve struggled with the app. Is their a default setting for just white?
No problem Ricky. For white or tungsten, you need to exit the rgb mode. Go to CCT mode and there it is going to be only the white bulbs. On the unit, press the mode/ch button until it says CCT on the display. Now you can select the temperature. Hope this helps!
Hi Otto Thanks for a lot of valuable infotmation, I am currently looking for a light to shoot apparels for my website. Everything will be shot in a room. Could you please help me in suggesting which light should I be using? Single source hard light or panels lights and which one in particular.
Helo Raj! I'm not very familiar with shooting apparel... Both options are great but If I had to choose, I would go with the COB-hard light ones with a softbox. Big softbox means softer light, and this is what I usually use for product photography. Sometimes I use a panel but that's like a fill light if needed. Take a look at this video I made a while ago th-cam.com/video/TgvuMuXNhMY/w-d-xo.html godox are a good option, I currently use the SL150 mark 2 th-cam.com/video/jQS9rBbdma8/w-d-xo.html

@@OttoJulian_I appreciate you showing them. @@theydontknow9260 nice to read your thoughts!! I hesitate many times to show the effects since not many people seem to care about them, but I'll consider this next time.
