  • Welcome back to the channel.
    In this video, I will demonstrate how to effect a repair on a BMW airbag system.
    This is a very common fault with pretty much every BMW model affected.
    The issue lies within the occupancy sensor inside the passenger seat.
    A small module can be purchase on eBay very cheaply (around 6-7 pounds) which will be required to carryout this repair. Link below.

    You don't have to remove your seat to do this.. U can just move it forward as far as it goes and you can easily see and reach the wires from behind.

    This is a bit of a Hail Mary, I have a 2013 BMW F06 with a driver's restraint error. The codes are "8029BF Driver's switch cluster: short circuit to B+ or line disconnected". "E4440B FAS, body CAN: line fault/electrical fault". Was this the issue you had with your 7 series?

  • @Steve101747
    @Steve101747 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At 7:50 you don't make it clear what to do with the wire you disconnected. I assume one just tucks it out of the way, maybe covering it with electrician's tape?

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it doesn’t really matter, it’s the cable the goes into the seat as you are bypassing the one from the car. You could cover it in tape if you wish however it isn’t in a position to get wet! Just tuck it out of the way and forget about it 👍🏻😎

    Hi Kevs, could you please tell me what exactely Carly adapter model and software you are using in this video? I looked at few options they sale on the net and they all say: "Carly will not reset airbag codes. You need a scanner that has SRS functionality."

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Evening, I am using the Gen 2 model with Wifi which is used with the iPhone and the associated iPhone App, if using Android then you will need the Gen 2 Bluetooth model as they connect differently. Unsure why you are reading that it can't reset the airbag, as you see in my video it can be done quite easily.

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It'll be under the passenger seat as it is the sensor that detects that someone is in the seat. It makes no difference if left or right hand drive, it'll always be under the passenger side.

    I installed a simulator for right passenger seat, I bought from ebay for my 2005 X3 E83. It worked great until a few days later my battery was dead. The simulator is telling the computer someone is still in the car. I'm not sure why it drains my battery. I removed it and now battery is fine but I have ABS light on again. Any suggestions?

  • @johngaffigan9568

    On my e39, the airbag light came on after I replaced the driver side window regulator frame. The driver door airbag had to be removed to get to the the frame. I properly had the battery disconnected before taking the interior panel off. Upon reconnecting everything, the window now does go up and down, but the airbag light stays on. This fix here is not the cause of my problem. Thoughts on how to reset the airbag light under there conditions? Thanks, Kev.

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These things happen sometimes, have you tried to just do a reset and see if it stays off? If you have the ability to read the fault codes, it should give you an indication of the problem, takes all of the guess work out of it!

    • @KevsShed

      If you have a faulty module then no, most airbag faults across all BMW models are caused by the occupancy mat in the seat, sadly yours seems to be the 1% that has a different fault!

    Dear Kevs, I would like to ask your help and advice if possible. Our E65 has restraint rear right failure message. Could you tell that how can I fix it please?

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would hazard a guess that it involves the rear head restraint, the problem is that the warning messages are quite non-specific. Get the codes read and that will be more pin point towards the error. Once you have that then you will be able to fix it. You may find that the code can be reset and that the problem won't come back, this works quite often with the E65 to be fair! I occasionally get an error with the seat belt restraint on the drivers seat, it always resets though and will be fine for months. Sometimes these cars can be an electrical nightmare!

    • @laszloszabo992
      @laszloszabo992 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear Kevs, thank you very much for your answer, you are really kind and professional! You are right, this car for example is probably one of those vehicles why they are called nightmare. It spent the last 6 months at a “specialist” at the countryside because he was the only one that I could find in Hungary willing to fix the electronic system of the car, it seems that the reparation hasn’t been executed perfectly. Or it could happen even with an immaculate car anytime? I just ask it because in this case I would not call that formerly mentioned specialist for guarantee service. Could you tell that if it is possible to reset this message at home with some special button combination or it has to be deleted by a professional witha diagnostic tool? Thank you very much for your answer in advance!

    • @KevsShed
      @KevsShed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laszloszabo992 Unfortunately it requires a special tool, My advice would be to buy the Carly diagnostic tool and the app to go with it, it costs about £120 GBP but it'll pay for itself with the E65!
