  • Myopic eyes start out normal, but in childhood at various ages, they diverge from normal into myopia. How are they different? What are the influences of genes vs the environment?

Very good videos to document some mainstream beliefs on myopia in the last decade. Things have changed dramatically in the last few years. For a current, much better interpretation and flaws of the papers referenced in these videos and many more see: Medina A. The cause of myopia development and progression: Theory, evidence, and treatment. Surv Ophthalmol. 2022 Mar-Apr;67(2):488-509. doi: 10.1016/j.survophthal.2021.06.005. Epub 2021 Jun 25. An excellent statement.
Whilst a great medical doctor, Craig understands ZERO, about the reason why evolution designed the eye as a sophisticated control system.
      Fair enough.
You can not know everything, if your entire life is medical.
That is expecting to much of Craig.
      I say that with respect.

Of course a negative reflective State, is completely preventable, at 20/50, or -1 Diopters, if the Engineering student, will start wearing a plus lens, through the school years.
It takes great personal resolve and understanding to do this, both as science, and correctly.

It is the minus lens, that creates "myopia divergence".
    As objective science.
It is your interpretation that is mistaken.
Let us call this the Second Opinion.

A great graph, Dr. Craig Blackwell.
But minus should be down, not up.
Also, all eyes at birth have positive STATE, that is absolutely normal and should never be called defective in any words we might use.
I am a control systems engineer.
Evolution designed all eyes that way.
They were never bad box cameras as you imply they are.
