This is a Gary Moore song (former guitarist for Thin Lizzy). Gary was Tommy's childhood hero and that red and white Charvel hes playing is a custom replica of Gary's guitar!
Many bands have covered this, including Nightwish and several folk bands bc it has a Gaelic feel.

That right there .. heart and soul of Tommy as a guitarist .. the core of the spark for him as a musician.. well actually it was out in the fields from the same album that Tommy heard first and made him decide to be a guitarist (when he was 9) .. but Tommy and Gary is just magnificent !!!! .. just saying empty rooms for Moore fantastic guitar and bass playing 😉

You said you once heard an old English version of this song. I think you’re referring to the song sung by John Tams - O’er The Hills And Far Away, which is the theme for the old show Sharpe starring Sean Bean. The lyrics, as I remember, are:

Tommy is our Swedish national treasure 🤘 We are so proud of him 🙏 If i should say something about your reaction video i would say please don't do so many stops in the middle of the song and not in the middle of solos, it makes the whole experience disappear. But overall okay if you doesn't stopped the video so much. Love from Tommyland ❤️

Bro Im gonna get you jealous now, I have seen this song live with Gary when he was supporting act to Queen in 1986 I believe. It was the best concert ever 1 hour Gary and 2 hours with Queen, cant be better!!

Thats a band that Tommy played with more than 10 years ago. Tommy does some crazy solos there. Just explaining for Harmonic chaos who they are.

I love how Tommy played this song. However, Dan Vasc sings it better, with a wider vocal range. Plus, Dan is half Italian, maybe you're cousins!
no chance lol. Tommy is one of the best singers out there with one of the most cleanest techniques across his range. Dan Vasc has a closer voice to Gary Moore. his version is really good too (listening to it right now). Tommy did a power metal cover. Dan stayed true to the original. it's a matter of preference. Tommy and Dan used equal amounts of vocal range, just Tommy used more high notes and Dan used more lower notes. Except that Tommy did do an F#5 at the end so he beat Dan in the range aspect too. Tommy dragged his phrases out, Dan cut them more short like in the original. But Tommy gets points for playing the guitar himself in addition to just singing.
