Thanks very muxh for your video...I was very nervous about the removal of the connector...the part actually broke off in the heater hose so I actually had to dig it out carefully to avoid pieces going down inside...also I found it very helpful that you specified the size tool needed and part number...I had a fuel line disconnect tool I purchased years ago and never opened...I thought I would try it to see if it would work...It came off very easily...I was shocked at how simple it was...I can only imagine how much a shop would have xharged for a $7 part replacement...my 2005 Silverado has 250 K miles and I am surprised the part did not fail before now....hope you continue to post videos...your lighting, no-nonsense presentation, and to the point video was most helpful...!

Hey, if you don't have this connector tool, I managed to make one with a pill bottle that I cut short enough to go over the heater core fitting, and then cut sections out of it until it fit inside the connector and pushed the fins back. I don't know how easily the actual correct tool is to get a hold of, but I also didn't want to spend any money. lol Also, thank you for the video, I didn't know how those fitting and hose adapters went on there at all until seeing this.
If you don’t have any of those tools, break it off at the plastic connector and heat up a flat head with a torch to get it hot and cut connector with it. Cuts like butter
I had to change mine on a 2002 Avalanche. I couldnt make the removal tool work so I simply used a $1 soldiering iron that I'd picked up from Dollar Tree to melt the connectors right off. About a minute for each one and they were off. Sliced through like butter. Since they're on a metal pipe there was nothing to damage.

Did the adapter go on easily? Is it just the two tabs inside that are catching? Or is it the four that are close to the rubber ring? When I put on mine to just the two tabs grabbing it was leaking like crazy but I can't get it on any farther to go to the 4 pens down at the bottom. Am I doing this right?
You should hear a click when they lock if not remove it and check if all tabs are in place , I don’t have the part number with me to make sure it’s the right one

I just want to say I don’t have the disconnect tool. I removed it somewhat surgically with a sawzall blade BY HAND just to cut the plastic. Two weeks later, no leaks. DO NOT USE A SAWZALL!! Just hold the blade in your hand and cut the plastic away

Check the ac lines for leaks , is your ac compressor clutch engaging when your ac is on if not or if it is engaging and disengaging it’s probably low on freon

If your truck has over 100k miles change them even if they are not leaking, it will save you a headache. Dorman came out with an improved metal design because these plastic ones don’t last.
so i followed your directions only to find out the correct tool size is 3/4 not 5/8 .😐 edit: at least thats the way it is on my 2002 GMC Sierra . the 5/8 connector was $20 , the 3/4 connector was $10 . . .
Push hose IN, while pulling quick connect piece OUT or back towards the hose. This will let the quick connect to release the pipe, then pull on the whole thing to separate.
Getting them off isn't that hard..... it's getting them back on that becomes the problem...... why are all these "how to" videos just demonstrating the obvious common knowledge shit and leaving out the most important things the basics don't teach you???

Did the exact same thing but with an old saw zawl blade , cehap AutoZone disconnect tool couldn't do it

Iv been trying my damnest to get it off with the normal tool but it doesnt seem to want to budge and was thinking the same thing.

Same tool same procedure for BOTH hoses? Both of my hoses are leaking

Don't risk bringing damage to that pipe. That's the reason for installing a quick connect.

That tool dont work on my 07 tahoe.. the connector has 2 prongs that dont allow that tool to reach..
