Thanks! Yes, it was one of the first 9 speed transmissions I’d ever had to take apart.

Great video!! One question do u have to pull the valve body to get front casing separated?

      Thank you Jason.
If I remember correctly you can open up the case with the valve body still installed however you don’t want to go further than they because you might break or damage a speed sensor or something.
Also when you dump the transmission on its side or back all the sludge and debris will end up in the valve body so it’s best to start by removing the valve body.

Thanks for the info. My brother hit something in the road and cracked the front case. Everything else is working fine at the moment. I was trying to help him from spending so much money. Any other advice you may have? Thanks again

A case swap is fairly easy especially if it’s the engine side of the case. There are some clearance checks that need to be done to do it correctly….I’ve heard of people being successful just swapping it out, but I like to ‘know’ that it’s good.
There might be some tools involved with seal replacements etc. so you’ll have to weigh the cost of time/tools/risk vs maybe a used transmission.

Thank you for this video. I have a 2024 blazer awd premier with this transmission that had a transmission failure at 154 miles three days after taking delivery of the vehicle. Dealership traced the problem to a loose snap ring, same as what you found here. How could this happen to a brand new transmission? Would it have been assembled improperly or would it have been a manufacturing defect? Thanks.

It’s a defect and GM has issued a special policy for some of the 9 speed transmissions that experience the failure.
      Thanks.

Hi. Do you know, transmission from 2018 traverse 3.6 fwd and 2018 enclave 3.6 fwd same? Can i install transmission from 2018 enclave 3.6 fwd to 2018 traverse 3.6 fwd?

There are so many minor variations I couldn’t tell you for sure. Look for the same code on the transmission sticker.
      Thanks.

80% of the ones I've done have been valve body issues or solenoids but that's just me how about you guys

It’s easy to take them apart. Putting them together and making them last is the hard part.
      Thanks.
