  • In this unscientific video, I (Nobody, Hi how are you?) determine which version of the Prodigy (5" vs 425) gets back on target the best. There are things that I should have done differently in the video, like have a better shooter perform the test....but anyway. Enjoy the vid

      I really like my Safariland with my glock. Well made and works great. But I also have several holsters that are passive (trex) and have zero complaints about them! Just depends on what I’m doing. I’ve seen my fair share of pistols hop out and hit the ground when running around. So sometimes I like a little overkill 🤣
      I appreciate you watching and putting up with me!

    Great video. You have the most info for the Prodigy by far than any other channel I follow. I hope you do a follow up with the Ragnarok. I’m looking to order the Staccato/Blackhawk 2011 holster for my 5” Prodigy. Since lockup sets on the light, this pistol works in my T-Series L3D RDS with the TLR-1. I also have X300 lights which is what the Staccato holster uses. Unlike Safariland, the Blackhawk holsters I have are light specific. Granted my holsters will fit the pistol and light but there is forward and rearward play in the holster. Once my RMR plate comes in I’ll see how it fairs. Great videos man. Take care.

    I noticed in the slow motion portion that the 5" had a "bounce" after the slide cycled forward, the 4.25" didn't bounce. Pick one, learn it well, shoot straight.

    • @bigshoe84
      @bigshoe84 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nobodytraining Thanks for the quick response, does it make a difference in trigger pull? My Prodigy is just barely ejecting the brass but I think the recoil spring is a good weight so I’m thinking of putting a lighter hammer spring in to help the slide come back faster in recoil.

    • @nobodytraining
      @nobodytraining  ปีที่แล้ว

      Take this with a grain of salt because I’m in no ways a 1911/2011 expert. This is just my thoughts…
      If the hammer/sear engagement surfaces are set up correctly you should see minimal to no effect on your trigger pull. When going lighter on the mainspring you want to make sure that the hammer still hits hard enough to ignite the primer and that the recoil cycle isn’t battering the slide and frame excessively. If you want to lighten trigger pull you’ll want to look at a number of things. 1-replace the hammer and sear with a good brand. I like EGW. They have an ignition kit that is hammer/sear/disco/mainspring/leaf spring that is good quality. 2-polish your trigger bow and disco and then tweak the sear spring a tad.
      As for the ejection, it comes down to slide speed usually. A lighter main and recoil spring may do the trick depending on how far you want to eject the brass. The ammo you are shooting may be playing a roll in this fyi. Fast FPS yields greater ejection. How far is it ejecting? Is it consistent? If the gun is reliably ejecting 2+ feet with no issues is it worth messing with. That a question you have to answer 🤣

    • @bigshoe84
      @bigshoe84 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nobodytraining Thanks for the detailed response, I need to put some defensive ammo through it first and see how it does. As far as what it does currently, it’s been 100% reliable with range ammo through about 325ish rounds but it’s only throwing the brass maybe 2 feet away. I did some disconnect or polishing and sear spring tuning to get rid of the catch and that worked.

    • @nobodytraining
      @nobodytraining  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. I try to help. Often a hinderance! 🤣 The JHPs will toss the rounds a lot farther. It sounds like you are on right track with testing and seeing it’s performance. Keep me posted on what you end up with

      If a gun is in the holster and equipped with a manual safety, it should be engaged. Only when bringing the pistol to the eyeline should it be disengaged.
      Same goes for a rifle with a sling. If the rifle is slung and stored close to the body, it should be on safe. Again, only when bringing the gun to your eyeline should the safety be disengaged.

      I find this comment amazing. You obviously have not looked at the channel and seen all of the videos of me fixing the gun that I was 'hyping' and showing people who were having the same issues how I did the work. As a matter of fact, the first video I ever recorded was how I fixed my 5" Prodigy. I bought these with my own money the first week they came out based off of the big Tubers hyping the guns. I've since spent a lot of time making videos helping people who are experiencing issues. So do you still want me to stop hyping? "Well your motivation is money blah blah blah" I don't make a single cent off of this. I will hype the fact the gun is a great platform once the issues are worked out.
      I like to assume the best about people. So I'm now going to wait and see if you are the man that I hope you are.

    • @nobodytraining
      @nobodytraining  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome to the Tinkerer’s Church! The crazy thing about the Prodigy is that the issues are all over the place. It’s not just a few consistent problems. I had some light primer strikes on the 4.25” and found sandblast grit in the firing pin channel and a small burr on the firing pin hole. After that no light primer.
      The Prodigy instilled in me to detail strip, inspect, and clean before anything else. Best lessons are learned the hard way!
