This was the version of the story I grew up with and seeing it again brought back so many memories! Also yes, that is in fact Steve Buscemi voicing Tempelton. One thing I admire is that they go out of their way to give Charlotte the credit she deserves. Even if the focus is on Wilbur, it's nice to see characters saying how amazing it is that a spider even did that to begin with!
Please don’t apologize for the absence, Nick - being a great friend is more important! 💖 And thank you so much for doing this version as well! I certainly grew up with the animated version but I love the stuff this one pulls off so much more. As a character artist and a naturalist, Charlotte is such an accomplishment. They didn’t cartoonize her, but made her still very appealing regardless. Not to mention that you nailed it, Templeton is voiced by Steve Buscemi, who we heard voice Randall in the Monsters Inc. movies. PERFECT casting tbh. 😂
It's really nice to see more people show this version the respect it deserves. As much as I have a soft spot for the animated film, this is one of those rare times where I can kinda see why the author of the book hated it so much. At least this respects the source material so much more.
The animated one will always have a special place in my heart because that's what I grew up on, but I really do love this movie. I think this was the first movie that made me cry for a character too. Both my mom and I watched this movie in theaters and we both cried! I had a book ( i might still have it. It's at my aunts house I haven't seen or been to in two years) about this movie with all sorts of interesting facts about the characters and facts about farm animals, and there was a page that was almost like a sequel. It had a picture of two grandparents, Fern and her husband, Henry Fussy, who still wears his hat, and their granddaughter. The page says many years later, Fern tells her granddaughter the story of her beloved Wilbur and Charlotte's web and the miracle it brings.
I actually prefer this adaptation to Charlotte’s Web than the animated film(even thought that one is good). It has a familiar charm, similar to Babe, which I very much appreciate, including a bigger cast. The emotion of this film gets me every time, which is another factor I like as well. So glad you covered this version of Charlotte’s Web, Nick, and thank you!
I’m a hardcore Disney fan and I agree with you whole heartedly on that one. Disney needs to stop with the live action stuff- the only exception to that is Marvel since Disney owns Marvel.
I love that Wilbur and Charlotte share a common theme in their friendship. Wilbur wasn't wanted because he was a runt, but Fern saw his true worth, and fought to save him. Charlotte wasn't wanted in the barn, because the other animals think she is ugly and creepy, But even from their first meeting, Wilbur thinks Charlotte is beautiful, because her kind voice reached out to him in the night and she comforted him and promised to chat and he still wants to chat with her, even when the other animals despise Charlotte and call her names. Wilbur sees her real beauty shining out from her heart and he returned it and helped the other animals to see Charlotte's worth, as well.
Voice Talent: Charlotte - Julia Roberts Wilbur - Dominic Scott Kay Gussy and Golly - Oprah Winfrey and Cedric The Entertainer Sheep - John Cleese Templeton - Steve Buscemi Cows - Kathy Bates and Reba McIntire Ike - Robert Redford Crows - Thomas Haden Church (Don’t remember the voice of the other crow) PERFECT CASTING 🤩🤩
The biggest problem I have with the animated version is the voice acting for Wilbur. In the original book he starts as a baby pig and grows up throughout the series, but in the animated movie he sounds like a fullgrown adult. So every time he throws a tantrum about not wanting to die it feels less endearing as a child truly being afraid of death and more like a whiny manchild who won't grow up.
I grew up with this movie and have always favored it over the original. I don't hate or even dislike the original. The remake just feels more emotional and not as cheesy with the line delivery. And Charlotte's death scene...my God her death scene makes me cry every time. Hearing a little kid beg for his best friend to come down so he can take her home and the feeling of defeat and sorrow when he realized he had to leave her behind. Then when he got home and everyone just silently bows their heads to mourn her. It is such a beautiful and sad movie
If you say "that is some pig!" it's an exclamation that means "that's an awesome/amazing pig". It's like the exclamation "now that's something!" it shows you're impressed. So basically, "some pig" means "an impressive pig".
Charlotte's Web was one of the first chapter books I ever read on my own (in the early 90s) and I remember asking my mom what "some pig" meant. So, I understand how you feel about it. Lol Though, I am happy the movie kept what the book originally had. I also feel the same way you do about Wilbur's voice. Even though I LOVE the original movie, since I grew up with it, I much prefer this voice actor of Wilburs...and who doesn't love Dakota Fanning?!? A great, fun, genuine reaction, Nick!
I prefer this one over the original as this was the version I grew up with. Also no need to apologize Nick, because when things come up they need to be sorted if they're something personal or important to you so it's okay Nick, just glad to see another fun reaction from you ;)
Astonishing reaction! This is the version of Charlotte’s Web I grew up with, and I loved how there was such raw emotions for the characters. The best thing about this story is that sometimes all it takes that one person to make you feel special, and even when they’re gone, the memories you shared still remains. 🐷🕷🕸💝
YAY I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I am really scared of spiders but charlotte is amazing even though she is one of my most feared creatures. She was like marry poppins without magic. PS. I was balling with the ending!
Back then at school,my Classroom had a TV. The teacher always have us watch movies in class. Charlotte's Web from 2006 was one of those movies we ended up watching a lot in class.
HEY! Nick I'm very glad to see you again from a two week absence and don't worry there are no accidents, anyways thanks for reacting to the live action adaptation of Charlotte's web in 2006, I also can't wait to see what you'll think of Pixar's lightyear, I haven't seen it yet but not in theaters I'm happy you are able react to it, reminder I recommend for you to react to Disney's Zootopia I've seen it in theaters back in 2016 it's an animated movie about animal's and trust me you will like it.
this was one of my favourite movies growing up and it sparked a real passion and obsession for tarantulas in me when i was in elementary school. i still think the reason why i always appreciated spiders is because of this movie, and the message behind it is so nice!
The penultimate scene in this movie reminded me of the second last mission in "Halo: Reach" where this quote rings in my mind. "This is the Pillar of Autumn. We are away. And the Package is with us."
Yay! Nick is back! I agree, I do like both movies but I gravitate more to the live action/CGI one. It seems more innocent and more emotional which perfectly captures what childhood feels like- especially in small rural and suburban places like the one the story takes place in. Also I hate insects, and my arachnophobia (fear of spiders) does not help with that, especially in this movie since everything is made to look more realistic so you think I would like the animated one more because it doesn’t really activate my fear. I honestly think it’s because of the voice actress that I connected with Charlotte so much more in this one- plus it’s the actress who made me forget I was looking at a very real spider. I’m positive if it wasn’t for her, I’d be like that horse and look away everytime Charlotte came on screen. I definitely understand where Nick is coming from in that sense.
@@lydiaquinn510 I didn’t think Charlotte was that bad in regards to her animation cause this is a movie meant for kids, so they wouldn’t make her too scary or real like the spiders in Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I just looked it up now and I’m pretty shocked Julia Roberts is Charlotte but she did amazing. I honestly credit the voice actress for not making me disgusted with Charlotte even with my fear. The babies though when they came on screen…that’s a different story.
Hello Nick, here's a list of movies I'll be watching this week: Monday 1st: The Flight Of The Phoenix, Raging Bull Tuesday 2nd: Devil In A Blue Dress, Inside Llewyn Davis Wednesday 3rd: Morbius, The Lost City Thursday 4th: Everything Everywhere All At Once, Fantastic Mr. Fox Friday 5th: Gravity, Pacific Rim Saturday 6th: Hacksaw Ridge, Dunkirk Sunday 7th: The Wall, The Dark Tower.
I used to see the commerical for this one all of the time, but I was never able to find it, btw I was wondering if you'd watch a movie called Mr. Magoriums wonder Emporium sometime
Hello Nick!! It's good to see you again after so long not seeing a new reaction from you! The important thing is that you are well and feel in good health. It's good that you already saw the live action version of Charlotte's Web. I agree with you, I also like the live action version better than the animated one. I recommend you to see A Dog's Way Home (2019) it is a most beautiful movie and the music it has is incredible. Take good care of yourself Nick and I look forward to your reaction to Lightyear and the surprise movie! Hugs for you!
The way is read is "that is SOME pig". Its the southern way of saying its special and unique, like "Aint that somethin" when you don't really know how to describe the rarity of what youre looking at.
I loved that you did this one, I know I have been putting it out there for others to try to check it out too. But I am really glad you did react to this movie. Don't get me wrong, I like the musical version, but this one had more story line to it, and I really liked that.
Oh no, i was really hoping you would never watch the live action adaptian of Charlotte's Web Nick. the ending is just as too sad to bear as the ending of the animated version, but i'm still happy to see a reaction vid from you nonetheless.
If you haven't already, please do a reaction to the sequel! it's really cute/neat seeing Charlotte's (and Wilbur's if you count imprinting) daughters as teenagers!
I mean I’m not trying to be rude, but I wouldn’t criticize it too much, because this entire story is straight from the book, in my opinion this movie did so much more better than the original animation. But the “some pig” Was in the original book
Love seeing it again hah suggestion reaction to "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" bit similar, but fair warning you're going to cry but so cute and lovely
I'm honestly surprised people never focused on the fact that a spider was capable of writing. Scientists from all over the world would be wanting to witness this.
I never watched the original, but I really liked this version. Can I make a request for a movie reaction? "Honey, I shrunk the kids" 1 2 and 3 Please, you will enjoy them
Hey everyone hope you enjoyed the reaction! See you next for Lightyear and a surprise movie!!
Yay
I want The Spongebob Squarepants Movie(2004)
hello, can you react the 3 stooges of 2012, it's good
Lightyear is one of movies I saw in theaters.
Have you reacted to toy story franchise

i agree, the voice actors sale it so well. like Julia Roberts had no right being so good. i sob every time :)
The friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte is adorable and awesome. I really love it, this story is very heartwarming.
I remember this being really good. Better than Most Disney live-action remakes, anyway.
I’m a hardcore Disney fan and I agree with you whole heartedly on that one. Disney needs to stop with the live action stuff- the only exception to that is Marvel since Disney owns Marvel.
The only good Disney live action imo has to be the 101 Dalmatians remake with Glenn Close.

Dakota Fanning (Fern) is the older sister of Elle Fanning (Aurora in “Maleficent”).
I always thought that Templeton was the best character. Especially being played Steve Buscemi, which is S tier casting in my opinion.

I love the subplot with the two crows. It's not in the book, but it's very funny. Their names, Elwyn and Brooks, came from the author, E.B. White.

I told you this one was better then the original 😂
This film is like opening and reading the book, then slowly closing it in the end. Radiant book.
8:48 Great, now I'm picturing a 70s hand-drawn _Monsters Inc._ where Paul Lynde voices Randall. (And I guess Phil Harris would be Sully?)
Bro I used to cry A LOT when I was a kid in her Farewell scene
First time it was discussed the thought of giving Oscars to voice actors.
The voice for Charlotte is Julia Roberts, the horse is Robert Redford, the Goose is Oprah, and one of the cows is Reba MacEntire
Fun fact: John Cleese plays as the leader of the sheep. He also played as Fiona’s dad in the Shrek franchise.
I hope your friend is doing better.
I think that farm wife was also the school bus driver in Forrest Gump.
The penultimate scene in this movie reminded me of the second last mission in "Halo: Reach" where this quote rings in my mind.

Elwyn Brooks White, author of the original book material (I actually own one of them), R.I.P.
Fun fact, Charlotte is voiced by Julia Roberts.
Knew that
Nickelodeon did alot of movies from my childhood. Barnyard specifically comes to mind though I barely remember it.
This movie was my childhood omg. It was in like my top 3 kid movies.
I've always loved this more than the original since I first saw it in cinemas
Mrs Zuckerman is played by Dorthy Harris the bus driver in Forrest Gump.
She was also the wife in Men in Black

1 scene the director who did the movie saw real baby spiders fly away-so they filmed and kept in the movie.
Such a beautiful movie 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I'm honestly surprised people never focused on the fact that a spider was capable of writing. Scientists from all over the world would be wanting to witness this.
Yes!! Thanks for this!
Julia Roberts did the voice of Charlotte spider. Great cast for this movie. Charlotte is a Wolf Spider
I only watch the 1973 original movie. I tried the live action, I didn't cry during it.
32:35 this scene always makes me cry 🥺😢😭🤧🕷️
I recommend watching Bridge To Terabithia if you haven't already!
I thought that Steve Buscemi was the perfect choice for Templeton!!!
Where can I get full movie pls tell me
I'm crying again.
I like the both version from animation to live
Hi Nicky hope u enjoy 😊
You should watch clue 1985 Tim curry’s in it😊😊
I never watched the original, but I really liked this version.
Can I make a request for a movie reaction?
"Honey, I shrunk the kids"
1 2 and 3
Please, you will enjoy them

I still prefer the original animated. Debbie Reynolds, Pamlyn Ferdin, Agnes Moorehead ,Paul Lynde. Love the songs too!
I enjoyed this movie when I was a kid :D
Aha i ordered food, i just had to pay for my supper with tears in my eyes
While I do prefer the animated version, I will say that I like that this version is much more faithful to the book.
You should watch *Chicken Run* soon
I know that you probably have a long list of movies to get through as it is, but I’ll just leave my suggestion here for now: “The Love Bug” (1969)
I'm crying over a darn spider...
Gotta watch the 2nd movie
Have you ever watched 'nanny mcphee' if not, i hope you watch it soon when your able. ^^
