Nice to see someone taking a more DIY approach versus the kit. I bought my alcoas from a local truck yard for $125/ea and my super singles off the Craig for $350 with tires. These adapters for sure need paint. PS, try using some finer sand. that sand is going to do ALOT of damage which will create alot more work to sand out before you even get it to the point of being Polished. Baking soda is real good for cleaning aluminum without hurting it. check it out

Need more videos about the truck. I just found an 81 cab and chassis. I had a lot of questions and these videos answered a lot of them. I was able to get 24.5’s new from my work for almost free. They were overstock then never sold and were going to get scrapped. Lol. But your videos just confirm I have to do this project it will be amazing.

Fine to medium 'scotchbright' pad on a cordless drill should help out tons. "IF" you can run/turn the axle in Idle, and then run the drill in opposite direction makes it a bit easier, but more dangerous from the lugs spinning .

I thought I'd be slick & build a C-50 to avoid adapters, but it has a different size hub-centric pattern than all these old used Alcoas. Is anybody drilling custom patterns in them ? Adapters wont work & I can't find much specifically designed for the truck except the original steel wheels. I don't even think those are safe to drive on.

@@chriscraft77022 I really do need to get some videos. It's penned in right now, cant really see it well. I'll try to get something in the daytime though.
It's a '79. I tried that website in your other vid & a couple other places. Not much luck. I'm thinking I may need to swap the axles from a topkick or something. It's proving to be THAT big of a challenge. The only C50s I've seen with custom wheels look to have had disk brake axles put on them.

@@chriscraft77022 Hmm, never mind. You probably didn't find anything anyway. Thanks for looking if you did though...I solved the problem via another route. The truck will just get upgraded to power disk brake axles. EZ sneezy ! Lighter, more responsive springs too. The newer parts truck I found comes with all kinds of extra goodies too.

@@blisterskustoms9060 what was the donor truck you found? I have a 68 C40 same situation. Thank for any help.

@@jeffp7776 It's a '91 Kodiak. The big 10 lug truck, not the 8 lug one. They can still be pricey, but if you try to buy those axles at a yard, it'll cost more than a parts truck easy
