Bob Odenkirk is one of those actors that got a second chance later in his life. He was a great comedy writer/sketch show actor in the 90s. He kind of faded into doing random things, guest spots here and there only to come back hard with Breaking Bad. Now he's got his own drama show (Better Call Saul) and headlining movies. Just really cool to see how far he's come, well deserved.

he didn't fade at all,.. Mr show with Bob and Dave got both of them a lot of work in many different things,.. everyone involved in that production went somewhere and continue to.

apparently the only stunt where it was a double was the one where his character gets thrown through the bus window. according to interviews at least, every other stunt on screen is done by odenkirk
THE SCENE WHERE HE CUTS THE GUY'S THROAT OPEN AND PUTS A STRAW IN THE SLIT WAS ABSOLUTELY GNARLY
This movie was absolute trash. Can't believe people got entertained watching it. I LOVE revenge / vigilante movies but turned this crap off after 15-20 minutes. Has a strong B movie feel, direction is overly chaotic with 100 camera angle cuts per second, the acting is corny, dialogue is as stale, etc. IMDB reviews getting padded as usual.

@@chrishayes5755 The entire first act of the movie is supposed to be all quick cuts. It shows the repetitive nature of this one persons life. After that they stop using so many cuts and get right down to business, making it feel like you’re watching a John Wick movie. It’s just so good!

Bob did an AMA on Reddit and said Christopher Lloyd was crazy excited to be working on an action movie. He had a blast doing it and if you've seen the movie, you can tell how much fun he's having haha

In a Russian interview, the director of this film, Ilya Naishuller, said that the most interesting thing that he found in the script of this film is that if John Wick fights for revenge, then "Nobody" fights simply because he is very bored. He told the producers and Bob Odenkirk about it, and they said they didn't think about this film from that point of view. And that was one of the reasons that he was hired to direct this film.
P.S. I'm so proud that the Russian director was able to make such a good film in Hollywood.

As a russian, I really liked the villain. Aleksey Serebryakov is a phenomenal russian actor who started in movies like Fanat in Van Damme-type of role and then rose in his acting craft to great heights. Particularly I would mention "How Vitka Chesnok Drove Lyokha Shtyr to the House for Disabled" (this movie also features an extremely authentic view of a life in russian province )
I am not russian but I really liked this actor, he is insane

Funny thing is: Saul Goodman was meant to be a fixer/killer and lawyer at the same time. It changed because Bob Odenkirk had other commitments so writers basically chopped the whole fixer/killer thing from Saul Goodman and made entirely new character of Mike Ehrmantraut from it.

The impression I got from this movie is that it's not a copy of 'John Wick' but rather a parody (as hinted by the poster), so I'm expecting comedy and some level of self-awareness next to the violence.

Couldn't disagree more. The unassuming, slow reveal of his character, from nobody to badass, was brilliant, unique, and kept you guessing at every turn. Also the villain was quite terrifying. However, it was nice to see the 'good guy' be more of a threat for a change.
dude chris didn't even pay attention in the movie he thinks hutch was just a money collector "who sometimes kills people" LMFAOO he goes in when it's gone beyond collecting money. he only let that one guy go... everyone else dies.
Especially in the bus scene. Where he gets fucked up far worse than he should have, probably needing to get back in the swing of things. Through that fight in the back of my mind I kept wondering when he was going to stay down or just wipe their shit like John Wick. Guy actually felt like he was struggling even though they didn't play the "grandfather/friend/family dies" schtick. It subverted my expectations and was overall an entertaining action film with some funny moments.

I was wating through the entire last shootout scene for the trope of Bad guy kills or maims a good guy and the tables turn... And then the last part of the movie is the good guy over coming the bad guy's upper hand ... But nope... the film ended with a claymore shield and i was so fucking happy about the whole movie.

character interactions were cringe, and as a john wick, punisher and Deadpool fan, many fight scenes were copied
I wish this movie was 2 hrs. Felt a little rushed going into the final shootout. Could of used some more story exploring and maybe some character development. But man it was a fun movie to watch for sure. And to film during the pandemic and get it into theaters, I gotta tip my hat to them. Bob killed it, definitely recommend a trip back to your local theater to give it a watch.

Yeah it was like 1 hr 25min. Pretty short. One of the shortest feature length film I have watched. I wanted more especially since there was def a possibility of narrative beats to be explored more in depth...

As a Russian I feel like I have to say this: this was the first movie I’ve seen where they cast actual Russians and got aspects of our culture down. I was shocked when the dude said “broke my nose”. Yes, there are a lot of stereotypes and Russians are still villains, but it was refreshing to see people speak actual Russian on screen.

Hope they make some sequels to give us more background. What is the meaning behind the 7-2 offsuit tattoo? Are Hutch and Harry real brothers? What was dad's background? Who is the barber? Lots to delve into and I hope they do in future movies.
The tattoo signifies being unlucky. He said that he was the last guy someone called at some point in the movie, so when he turns up they’re getting dealt an unlucky hand (in poker 7/2 unsuited is classed as the worst hand).
He's at that age where Liam Neeson got to be a badass. Hope there is another global action star in the making.

I think RZA is also pretty slept on in this movie, especially near the end, he pulls a pretty good ass performance too, I think everyone, even the main villain, are very fun characters. I also love how Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) is having a power struggle with himself in the movie, it really is a nice dynamic

His character getting his ass kicked sounds like a callback to Indiana Jones. We know Jones is a badass but he still gets hurt and beat up. Makes the character much more believable and relatable than seeing an untouchable perfect action hero barely breaking a sweat.
Same with John McClane in Die Hard (but not sequels). He’s barefoot and bloody the whole time.
Same with Jackie Chan. He's constantly getting hurt but keeps going.
Not everyone can be as badass as john wick ya know but he also got his ass kicked at the end of parabellum

Hutch was an "auditor" which reminded me of the movie The Accountant.
I was SO happy to see Christopher Lloyd in a substantial role, and according to his face throughout the film, Mr. Lloyd was happy as hell too.
I know the director is mainly known as the “Hardcore Henry” guy. That said if you haven’t seen it his music video for The Weekends False Alarm is absolutely incredible. It’s still for his first person gimmick but it is much more effectively stylish then his previous work.

The soundtrack is great, the nonchalant nature of the gratuitous violence mixed with comedic timing is great. I love it
If this movie was done by Liam Neeson, it would have been par for the course, but Odenkirk plays the everyday man in mid life crisis so well that it is more of a surprise when we find out his past.

Absolutely an A+ for me, if only for Christopher Lloyd, his character was overjoyed to be back in action again, and I got the impression that as an actor he was getting the same buzz. Hoping the mid-credit scene was setting up a sequel focussing on him and the sniper.
Loved Mr Odenkirk even before Saul Goodman. His scenes in breaking bad were phenomenal, and this movie just goes to show you how well he can act in pretty much any kind of genre. Criminally underrated, that guy

I think Bob is somewhat of an under rated actor. He's so good in just about everything I've seen him in yet doesn't seem to get the recognition he richly deserves. Looking forward to seeing it.

I would have loved if towards the end of the movie, we found out that it did take place in the John Wick universe and that he was simply a less skillful "employee" in the assassin underworld. Like he had a total of 10 gold coins to his name for the work he did.

Just watched it today,Nobody is without a doubt the best movie of 2021 and one of the best action movies of all time,the action is next-level,the performances are great(RZA and Lloyd are scene-stealers)and odenkirk and IIya redefine the death wish formula.
I'm responding to this late because I rewatched this movie and I think that the first time I missed the point, and I didn't catch you mention it either.
The plot isn't "His daughters kitty cat bracelet was stolen" It's basically how a "normal guy" can be driven absolutely mad by the day to day. The monotony of life was affecting him greatly and you can see him deteriorate from a normal guy into the Auditor throughout the first act of the movie. He almost lost it at the breaking and entering but he was able to hold his composure due to him realizing there was not an actual threat. From there he loses more and more of his sanity until the thing he loves the most (his daughter) is affected.
Then he breaks and goes to find them, finds them and right at the moment he could have lost control, he heard the baby crying and took into account their situation. I think the first act is super strong and as an actor, Bob absolutely sells not only being this badass, but treading the line of "losing it" perfectly. I could relate a whole lot more to this character then I could ever relate to John Wick or other similar characters.
I agree with the second act and the final act being not as strong and the villain being ridiculously weak. I think I would have liked the movie more if he wasn't such a bamf. I liked that he got stabbed and hurt and was vulnerable. I think it would have been more impactful if it was just a father (without background) just absolutely losing it and still being able to pull this off in some way.
So happy to hear this. I’ve loved Bob since Mr. Show and seeing his career blossom with Better Call Saul and now this is so satisfying.
Feel like I’m only one who remembers mr show - everyone is like finally becoming a star and I’m like ughh I watched mr show religiously as a kid he definitely was a star to young 10 year old me!

Chris: There really is no depth, characters to care about, not much longevity, mostly it’s just an entertaining movie.

I just watched one of those "my most iconic roles" videos with Bob Odenkirk. He said he trained for two years to be able to do all the fighting and stunts in this movie.
Was looking forward to this movie because I wanted to see somebody who usually acts in comedy act in an action movie. Bob Odenkirk is usually really hilarious, so I’m looking forward to seeing another side of his acting.
He's great in comedy, but I can't not roll my eyes at his fight scenes in this. I thought the trailer looked like a joke, IDK, I didn't find it remotely impressive.
I'll go watch a real martial arts flick.
@@Axolotl_Mischief hey, to each their own, and that’s a valid reason to not see the movie. I was interested in him exploring a different side of his acting so I was looking forward to this. I had the same feeling when watching Robin Williams play the villain in “Insomnia.”

Nobody = Falling down + John wick with a good helping of Die Hard and a sprinkling of True Lies,.. and as Christopher Lloyd said, "it is excessive, But Glorious" ... this is now my favorite action movie, it is on par with Die Hard, and if you don't think so watch them back to back :D

This movie reminds me a lot the movie Shoot-'Em-Up.
I always planned on watching it just for Bob Odenkirk. Dude is such an underrated actor. He nails both the comedic and dramatic scenes in both Breaking Bad and BCS so well. I hope he gets a lot more roles going forward now that BCS is coming to an end.
Every time I saw “WM” on his business, no matter how hard I tried, I was seeing it as Wexler McGill😂 Such a great movie though. For the first 20 or so minutes I was worried it wouldn’t be that good, but then the bus scene happened and I was hooked. The villain’s one-take entrance (and the whole club scene honestly) was awesome too. I’d love to see a sequel!

Do none of you realize his thumbnails are representative of his film review? Jeez it's kinda wild to see the top comment always being "omg did u see he was smiling and liked it?" DUUUUDE. That's the point.
I think the reason people comment that on his videos is because Chris is known for being quite deceptive with his thumbnails of his reviews, to the point that sometimes, you can’t tell if he likes it.
And when he follows through on the thumbnail, people can be legitimately surprised.
Caught this film last night. I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. There needs to be a sequel to this film Bob Odenkirk deserves it for his performance and the storyline alone.

Hardcore Henry is such a hidden gem. The direction is so beautiful and outstanding. Even the making of HH is incredible and well shot. Anyone interested in film should see it. Its one of the best action films since MM Fury Road.
Bob O was brilliantly oily in The great Larry Saunders Show. A stellar cast which he simply added to. RIP Gary Shandling.
Didn’t expect this movie to be so good 😂 fast paced but the story writing is so good and doesn’t feel rushed or all over the place. The fighting choreography was clean but not the aftermath. Also that dude got hit by a flying chair at the hospital 😂
It is incredibly stupid that this is literally only in theaters, meaning lots of people can't see it, including me. Theaters here are closed.

Unconventional action star casting isn't a recent thing. Bruce Willis was known mostly for 'Moonlighting' prior to 'Die Hard' and Matt Damon was known mostly for dramas prior to the 'Bourne' films.
Also Keanu was far from an action star before Speed and Point Break. Look how that turned out.

And then he did bad boys, Independence Day, men in black, enemy of the state, I robot, I am legend......
