Kiko Loureiro is a class act through and through. And one of the most versatile players out there. It felt like a true jam, and not a "betcha can't play this" contest. It was two musicians conversing with their instruments.

Funny enough, after leaving that Kiko lesson out at the front of Musicians Institute entrance we ran into Guthrie Govan who was doing a clinic the next day at GIT. One of the coolest days as a student there!

It was ridiculously boring for me. And all I hear is the ghost of Greg Howe lingering in the background of a lot of meaningless and over-stylized notes (at least from Guthrie).
Kiko is good... but Guthrie is effortless and, for all intents and purposes, perfect. His timing is impeccable. Kiko still has some very minor timing issues.
Used to work at Sam Ash and Kiko would come in all the time. Was one of the most humble and nice guys out there AND I used to get the treat of seeing and hearing his talent up close. What an amazing musician and person! Bravo!
I just discovered Govan after watching Max Ostro. TH-cam brought me here. I admire Kiko because I've seen him play in Megadeth, I love Megadeth, but here he has a vibe of someone who admires, respects and is impressed watching Govan play. Truly amazing, they are amazing!
To me the incredible talent of Govan is that every time it’s his turn he does something completely different and unpredictable, both technically and creatively

I absolutely live for moments like this at 4:37...the random but perfect feedback tone changes (like WTF, even random, accidental feedback sounds prefect from these guys!) from I think Kiko's guitar...and Guthrie trying to tidy things up, just stepping away in perfect time to the backing track, playing that perfect, smooth and quiet little outro lick. It's good to be alive and inspired!
Listen to Govan pass off to Kiko at 1:35. Kiko tales it with the bar down and then goes back up. That's a great example of his humor, and mental acuity. Killer player, and super entertaining TH-cam channel!

Playing myself after watching these two play makes me feel like I’m trying to sprint underwater. I could watch them trade lines for a long while, also could watch both of them teach or just talk about music, they are deep like that as evident, and that inspires playing more easily for me. GG’s tone is favorable here, not as fizzy as sometimes. Must be setting, miking and my device and all that.

I loved this. Ive seen it about 10 times ever since it came out. I know kiko's licks from angra/soloalbums/and of course megadeath's dystopia. I did hear kiko using alot of those signature licks or some version of them within the context of the larry carlton track. What if found cool about guthrie is he was trying to find 'motifs' or parts that kiko gave him and embellish them into his responses. I also heard alot of style borrowing from guthrie from quoting 'the lick'/beethoven's 5th to a steve ray vaughn double stop. It was a very interesting and lovely jam. I can't wait to see Kiko jam with John Petrucci and see if Petrucci can improvise as much and as sophisticated as Guthrie was in this.

Sorte que não são músicos os que comentam essas merdas, pois fossem teríamos gente de qualidade duvidosa.
Verdade, mas o Kiko aí tocou c a guitarra mais baixa e dava p ouvir a harmonia da música, já o govan toca c a guitarra no talo e vc não ouve nada além da guitarra dele. É melhor desligar o backing track e tocar só a guitarra sem nada, já q não é p ouvir o resto da banda...
Por isso a música no Brasil ainda é um fiasco, a mentalidade da maioria desses guitarristas sua grande parte de quarto é de melhor ou pior, é sempre de competição e não de admirar o que cada um dos músicos de estilos diferentes tem a oferecer sempre desmerecendo algum, algo lamentável.

They do that with Vai, Satch, even Kiko; puhlease get a grip! Guthrie is good but only enough to be in the same line way at the back as like when he finally could join in!
@@krillinroshi9312 lol the reason people choose other guitarist before Guthrie Govan is simply because he is TOO good, imagine if megadeth hired him instead, he would make them sound awful. Guthrie outplays every guitarist he ever jammed with, all except Ron Thal, they are pretty similar
I have known Kiko much longer since Angra and I love his fusion albums. Guthrie and Kiko should make a record together. A la Greg Howe & Richie Kotzen.

Kiko loureiro é um dos melhores do mundo, porém nesse estilo o guthrie é um ser de outro mundo, o cara tem um vocabulário de likes e frases surreal, mas parabéns a música.... Se Kiko tivesse os bends e vibratos do Juninho afram, seria ainda medlhor

Essa back foi feita pelo próprio Guthrie, ele já improvisa nela a mais de 15 anos kkkkjj inclusive é de uma música chamada "Larry Carlton" se não engano composta pra JTC, não desmerecendo o Guthrie jamais porém nesse contexto ele tá com uma vantagem considerável :)

Love these two players , I grew up listening to Guthrie Govan , i remember when he worked for Guitar Techniques , i learnt so so much from this guy . I can always remember his voice on the Techniques CD "Hi this is Guthrie Govan, " in a real deepish voice.
Amazing thing about kiko is he is always into learning ..anything wise from anyone.

Cara Kiko representa de maneira brilhante a musicalidade Brasileira. A guitarra ter caído é bobagem, a musicalidade no palco foi de alto nível. Dois gênios musicais.
A Guitarra ter caído demonstra a incompetência e incapacidade do músico em utilizar o instrumento. De resto 2 sons lixos.

I loved this. Ive seen it about 10 times ever since it came out. I know kiko's licks from angra/soloalbums/and of course megadeath's dystopia. I did hear kiko using alot of those signature licks or some version of them within the context of the larry carlton track. What if found cool about guthrie is he was trying to find 'motifs' or parts that kiko gave him and embellish them into his responses. I also heard alot of style borrowing from guthrie from quoting 'the lick'/beethoven's 5th to a steve ray vaughn double stop. It was a very interesting and lovely jam. I can't wait to see Kiko jam with John Petrucci and see if Petrucci can improvise as much and as sophisticated as Guthrie was in this.

@Hellbsong Frenzal justamente, vc vê quem é adulto, e quem é criança por essas e outras. Igual no paladar, cara que só come coisa doce , paladar infantil, não experimenta nada. Quem faz esses comentários dizendo que um é melhor que outro , nunca vai ter capacidade mental. Eu com 18 anos já sabia que cada guitar tinha sua capacidade, não existia melhor . Sorte que não são músicos os que comentam essas merdas, pois fossem teríamos gente de qualidade duvidosa.
Verdade, mas o Kiko aí tocou c a guitarra mais baixa e dava p ouvir a harmonia da música, já o govan toca c a guitarra no talo e vc não ouve nada além da guitarra dele. É melhor desligar o backing track e tocar só a guitarra sem nada, já q não é p ouvir o resto da banda...
Por isso a música no Brasil ainda é um fiasco, a mentalidade da maioria desses guitarristas sua grande parte de quarto é de melhor ou pior, é sempre de competição e não de admirar o que cada um dos músicos de estilos diferentes tem a oferecer sempre desmerecendo algum, algo lamentável.

Never heard of Kiko Loureiro before (I have seen the end of this video before and knew therefor that he would drop his guitar accidentally, but never saw more from this clip). I'm actually surprised how much he has that Guthrie vibe to his playing. Really great player!
