I think we can probably all agree Guthrie is from another universe but Kiko's playing is exceptional here, too. They're both pulling notes out of the ether. It's not a competition, it's a celebration.
Kiko Loureiro is a class act through and through. And one of the most versatile players out there. It felt like a true jam, and not a "betcha can't play this" contest. It was two musicians conversing with their instruments.
IDK, Guthrie seems to be improvising on scales he knows really well here. Kiko, on the other hand... Yes, he's ABSOLUTELY improvising, out of thin air. Which makes It even more awesome. I mean, you don't get to improvise from 0 in front of Guthrie Govan and somehow let people trying to figuring out which solos were better if you're not a world class guitar player.

in 2009 Kiko did a little group lesson at GIT in Hollywood with me and a few others. Kiko really knows his shit, he can easily hang with Guthrie in just about anything. He's not just a shredder. Funny enough, after leaving that Kiko lesson out at the front of Musicians Institute entrance we ran into Guthrie Govan who was doing a clinic the next day at GIT. One of the coolest days as a student there!

Used to work at Sam Ash and Kiko would come in all the time. Was one of the most humble and nice guys out there AND I used to get the treat of seeing and hearing his talent up close. What an amazing musician and person! Bravo!
Kiko is good... but Guthrie is effortless and, for all intents and purposes, perfect. His timing is impeccable. Kiko still has some very minor timing issues.

I just discovered Govan after watching Max Ostro. TH-cam brought me here. I admire Kiko because I've seen him play in Megadeth, I love Megadeth, but here he has a vibe of someone who admires, respects and is impressed watching Govan play. Truly amazing, they are amazing!

Verdade, mas o Kiko aí tocou c a guitarra mais baixa e dava p ouvir a harmonia da música, já o govan toca c a guitarra no talo e vc não ouve nada além da guitarra dele. É melhor desligar o backing track e tocar só a guitarra sem nada, já q não é p ouvir o resto da banda...
Por isso a música no Brasil ainda é um fiasco, a mentalidade da maioria desses guitarristas sua grande parte de quarto é de melhor ou pior, é sempre de competição e não de admirar o que cada um dos músicos de estilos diferentes tem a oferecer sempre desmerecendo algum, algo lamentável.
I absolutely live for moments like this at 4:37...the random but perfect feedback tone changes (like WTF, even random, accidental feedback sounds prefect from these guys!) from I think Kiko's guitar...and Guthrie trying to tidy things up, just stepping away in perfect time to the backing track, playing that perfect, smooth and quiet little outro lick. It's good to be alive and inspired!

Love these two players , I grew up listening to Guthrie Govan , i remember when he worked for Guitar Techniques , i learnt so so much from this guy . I can always remember his voice on the Techniques CD "Hi this is Guthrie Govan, " in a real deepish voice.

I loved this. Ive seen it about 10 times ever since it came out. I know kiko's licks from angra/soloalbums/and of course megadeath's dystopia. I did hear kiko using alot of those signature licks or some version of them within the context of the larry carlton track. What if found cool about guthrie is he was trying to find 'motifs' or parts that kiko gave him and embellish them into his responses. I also heard alot of style borrowing from guthrie from quoting 'the lick'/beethoven's 5th to a steve ray vaughn double stop. It was a very interesting and lovely jam. I can't wait to see Kiko jam with John Petrucci and see if Petrucci can improvise as much and as sophisticated as Guthrie was in this.

Love these two players , I grew up listening to Guthrie Govan , i remember when he worked for Guitar Techniques , i learnt so so much from this guy . I can always remember his voice on the Techniques CD "Hi this is Guthrie Govan, " in a real deepish voice.
Ahh always great to see a great musician keep it together when something goes wrong on stage.

Both are so amazing, the falling guitar was just the guitar gods and trickster in attendance, and it made for an improv ending showing us music is fun guys!

Entre todos os guitarristas que já duelaram com o Govan, Kiko é o único que se vê em pé de igualdade ...humildade passa longe. Govan tá 10 mil anos a frente e não reconhecer é ego demais!!

I loved this. Ive seen it about 10 times ever since it came out. I know kiko's licks from angra/soloalbums/and of course megadeath's dystopia. I did hear kiko using alot of those signature licks or some version of them within the context of the larry carlton track. What if found cool about guthrie is he was trying to find 'motifs' or parts that kiko gave him and embellish them into his responses. I also heard alot of style borrowing from guthrie from quoting 'the lick'/beethoven's 5th to a steve ray vaughn double stop. It was a very interesting and lovely jam. I can't wait to see Kiko jam with John Petrucci and see if Petrucci can improvise as much and as sophisticated as Guthrie was in this.
It only took me a minute to get tired of listening to this. I will never listen to this a second time. Who needs this kind of music?
