I got this error: "Something went wrong while opening /Users/imac/Downloads/ubuntu-24.04-desktop-amd64.iso. Error: (0 , h.requestMetadata) is not a function". What do I do here?
@@tatogtech6748 Thanks, but I already have tried that before and it didn't work. But it worked for me when I downloaded an older version of Balena Etcher.
Thanks for the video! Once I created my boot media and booted my Mac Mini into recovery mode, the OS didn't recognize my drive as boot media. Any tips? It's a late 2014 Intel Mac Mini.
Mate this was great, although just need some help, i got right to the end of the etcher validation and a message pops up something wrong, if its a compressed image check the archive is not corrupt, the writer process ended unexpectedly. Ive tried different versions if etcher and heaps of iso files, mint, kubuntu, ubuntu. Im on a m1 mac. Any ideas? Was going to try wonderiso
Thanks for the video. Problem: I make it to Etcher, Flash the USB then eject it. When I insert the USB a message comes up that USB is not readable. Back to Disk Utility and the foamat is now Mac extended.
Its usually complicated to find help with this sort of stuff on Mac. Appreciate the nice quality, straight forward, straight to the point video.
Hi, I wish you got more views and stuff. You are very professional and video is amazing. Good job on the great work!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching! Send all that energy to the TH-cam algorithm gods!
Thank you so much, great video! Redoing my gf's old 2010 Macbook.
Nice! Happy to help!
Do you have a tutorial going through the setup of Kubuntu once you launch it in recovery mode?
Thank you so much. I appreciate the help!
Happy to help!
What OS are you using on your mac??. My Imac Ventura 13.6 would not or could not run etcher. Thank you.
Thanks for this dude, appreciate it.
Happy to help🙂
Great video!! Thanks you for making this very simple.
You're welcome!

I would recommend trying to select it again.

That one I am not sure about. I have never tired to put another OS on an Apple device. Something I would be interested in the future for sure!
How to create persistent bootable usb on Mac?
What do you mean by persistent bootable USB?
Is it possible have a usb bootable for both case?
What do you mean about both case?

That is weird. I have not seen that. Try changing the location of your ISO file. Also make sure they are actually ISO files.
@@tatogtech6748thank you, will try that. Im also going to try on my 2010 imac, see how that goes
@@tatogtech6748 that didnt work unfortunately
@@tatogtech6748 Unfortunately that didn't work either. I also tried on my iMac 2010 with high Sierra but etcher isn't compatible.
@@sttill81 Hmmmm...when you downloaded Etcher, was it the ARM version?

Once you flash it, it will not be readable by the Mac. It is still usable to boot into.
@@tatogtech6748 Thanks. Feel a little stupid right now.
@@powercorepilates8686 Now you know. No reason to feel stupid.
is it for M1 pro mac?
The system I used is an M2 Pro. Should be the same regardless of your Mac.
