    Hey Mr. David Bombal,
I just wanted to drop you a massive thank you for everything you've done for me. Your TH-cam channel has been a total game-changer in my life, and I can't even begin to express my gratitude.
So, here's the deal: I graduated with a non-tech background, and I was completely clueless about how to break into the IT field. It was like standing at the edge of a massive jungle without a map or compass. I knew I wanted to dive into IT, but I had zero idea where to start.
Then, out of the blue, your videos popped up in my TH-cam recommendations. I started watching, and it was like a whole new world opened up. Your videos weren't just informative; they were fun, easy to follow, and honestly, they made tech stuff seem less intimidating.
I became a regular on your channel, binge-watching your tutorials and soaking up your knowledge like a sponge. Your teaching style, the way you broke down complex topics, and your real-world examples - it all just clicked with me.
Inspired by your content, I decided to take the plunge and go for the CCNA certification. Trust me, it seemed like a monumental challenge at first, but your guidance made it feel doable. Your study tips, practical demos, and enthusiasm for networking turned what seemed daunting into something exciting.
Fast forward a bit, and guess what? I landed a job in IT! I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's all thanks to you, Mr. Bombal. Your channel not only armed me with the technical skills I needed but also gave me the confidence to chase my IT dreams.
I want you to know that your dedication to helping newcomers like me is beyond admirable. You're not just a teacher; you're a mentor and an inspiration. Your impact on my life has been huge, and I'll forever be indebted to you.
So, once again, thanks a million, Mr. Bombal, for being the guiding star on my IT journey. Your generosity in sharing your knowledge has changed my life, and I can only hope to pay it forward and inspire others, just like you've inspired me.
    With loads of appreciation,
    M. Khan

    Hi David,
This method is no longer working properly with the recent release of 2023.3 Kali Live image. The system boots to a GNU Grub interface instead, and it is only fixed with having persistence disabled in Rufus when flashing the ISO. Please update accordingly to guide beginners like me who are not comfortable with creating manual persistence partitions in Kali! Thank you always David.

multiboot with persistence would be a good topic. there are tools like ventoy which let you boot various isos and utils in one usb drive. it gets into the weeds when persistency is involved. but one portable drive to rule them all, even with booting in macs -intel & m chips, uefi & legacy, has always been challenging.

LiveUSB multiboot can be done with stuff like Yumi but the persistence option doesn't seem to work for the multiboot so it sucks... also I don't really like Ventoy and all the rage around it.

    Some tips about it:
    1. Try to find 2023.2 version as on video, there is something wrong with 2023.3
    2. Dont put persistence on 75%. Better do 10-20% to make your system much faster and you'll have some space for some programms and settings.

Most of the components of kali live are read only and not writable so they can't be updated unless you create a persistent partition to save new data. But even persistence doesn't upgrade kernel version.
The better option is to install kali on a 256GB USB. Kali installation requires atleast 25GB partition including swap partition.

    Just a few things;
1- you may need to set the usb drive to GPT in Rufus if your system is newer and UEFI only.
2- dont change your boot priority, rather use the boot override option that is available in the BIOS. Unless of course you need to repeatedly boot from it without ever removing the USB.
Lastly, a question. To what degree is this perisstent. Is it just whatever you store in the home directory, or are configurations and updates persistent as well?

Hey David, My USB 32 GB, 3.1. MBR UEFI . Stucked in GNU GRUB 2.06. Previous update was flawless. But this one stucked. I think new updated iso file is of 4.1 GB, that's why its not working with FAT32. Please look into this 🙏

    Hello David,
Thanks for the video, it comes neatly at a great timing :)
You say around 2min that you set the persistent partition about half of the total size of the usb flashdrive.
What happens of the rest? Do you choose to use half because you intend on partitioning the other half to use as a normal storage?
    Cheers!

the rest of the storage that is not in set on persistence will be available as normal partition in windows file explorer

@davidbombal I must be missing something. Followed all the directions though using the 2023.3 live iso. Used Rufus and set to 65 GB on my 128 GB USB drive for persistence. On first attempt, an message came up that additional files were required and it downlaoded (this message from Rufus) . Everything proceeded as expected. Set BIOS options as noted and PC boots up to GRUB> cli. type boot and receive "error you need to load the kernal first" Do what am I doing wrong? Note this is on a Kamui mini PC N5105 chip 16 gb RAM. Boot set to USB. Did manage to get it running on my HP Z Book , though it hit the grub cli first then managed to get boot option for Live USB.

Idk for uefi , i have bios and have that option. Carry on with great videos. Videos with OTW are great, big inspiration when learning became too much.
