    This is a much cheaper alternative than a taxi. I made the mistake of taking a taxi not knowing about the awesome public transportation my first visit back in 2013 and that was about 75 eu for the taxi versus a few euros? No brainer there. If they have cancelled trains like what happened to me my last visit in 2019 then you can always take a bus for even less

    • @Followmytravels
      @Followmytravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definetely! And if trains are cancelled, NS company arrange service buses to that directions, if they can not, they have to refund or send the travellers by taxi. However as you said Buses are also available just out of Schipol Plaza and cheaper than the train.

      I think it's even dearer to buy your ticket from the office as the last time we bought them from ticket office there was 1 euro service charge on top of ticket price.

    • @weeardguy
      @weeardguy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scooterspringsteen3544 And even worse: you also pay a euro surcharge for using the machines, which I consider to be asbolutely ridiculous. Only an online-ticket saves you the surcharge. And DEFINITElY avoid the blue ticket-machines to buy a trainticket from if you see all the yellow machines are busy with people waiting in line, as you'll pay another euro surcharge on top of the 1 euro surcharge, just for using the blue machine...

    Buying train tickets is so diffult from NS app despite I have bought from it many times. It can be much easier to make use of. Thanks for giving some information about traveling on
    train in Amsterdam.

    When you arrive at Amsterdam Central walk ten minutes to the “Grey Area” coffee shop. Best weed in city and not the commercial weed normally sold in tourist areas.

    It's not just one euro, how much pain and stress is this going to save! I've long forgotten how this all works. I remember really struggling to get a tram ticket at Centraal Station as well, the tips at the end of the video will really help me next time round.

    Murat, thank you for this video of the arrival at Schiphol Airport & then how to take the train to Amsterdam Centrum. It was so helpful & practical. I feel much more at ease about my upcoming trip. If I need more Euros when I arrive should I exchange $ to Euros at the airport or in the Centrum? Thanks again, Murat! 😀

    • @Followmytravels
      @Followmytravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You"re welcome! Its better if you change it in the city. But avoid exchange offices, especially Travelex company, their buy/sell spread is the highest. Try bank branches such as Abn Amro, ING, Rabobank etc.

    Extremely useful video, thanks a lot! Just one clarification question: during check in/out you just need to scan the QR code of online train ticket using your phone, right? I mean, just to put your phone above the yellow machine (3:37)?

    • @Followmytravels
      @Followmytravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that s correct. Thanks for your feedback, glad it s helpful ✋

    • @weeardguy
      @weeardguy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, you do not need to do anything with a QR-code ticket when arriving at a station without turnstiles like Schiphol. You buy it and just enter the train. When encountering a station closed off by turnstiles, you can always use the QR-code to get in or out, as long as the ticket is valid of course.

    • @serogka1
      @serogka1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@weeardguy apparently, you are right, thanks! It was exactly how you just wrote, no need to do anything practically. Anyways, I am thankful for this upload it helped me a lot when in Amsterdam

    • @weeardguy
      @weeardguy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@serogka1You're welcome. I still feel NS could emphasize this WAY more when people buy a QR-ticket from Schiphol to anywhere else. Schiphol is one of the exceptions when it comes to the lack of turnstiles, thus also having no QR-code scanners at the airport. I basically work there and see a lot of people always try to get a response from the validators with QR-tickets. I really don't understand why don't mention clearly that you do not have to do anything at Schiphol Airport, except for boarding the train (or disembarking in case you are arriving at Schiphol)

    Is train an ok option? if you are travelling with two big luggage's? or I need to buy a 1st class ticket to avoid annoying other travelers in the 2nd class? I'm going to Gouda by the way so I need to ride the Intercity train and not the sprinter train.

    • @Followmytravels
      @Followmytravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are bike vagons on trains and there a spaces up to 4 bikes and wheellchairs, for 2nd class, you can use that space if there is no bike there (but bikes have priority). 1st class is of course better, only a few people use that vagon, sometimes no one. Intercity trains, in the 1st class and in the middle of the vagon, there are some seats with wider space for groups or families. You can be comfortable there, if they are empty at that moment. Or you can just put your luggages to the place between 2 vagons (the area you get in to the train) and stay there.

    This is great, I am flying to Amsterdam tomorrow afternoon!! Can I travel to Central station with 1 day visitors travel pass? Do you think buying 1 day pass is valued if I only stay 1 night there ?

    • @Followmytravels

      Thanks! If you stay only 1 night i think you do not need any pass. Most of the popular spots are in walking distance in Amsterdam 👍
