Today, we're getting rid of those terrible scratched up Chrome Grills / Grilles on the car and installing some Gloss Black M3 Style ones! This video will walk you through how to remove and Grilles (or Grills if you like that spelling better) on most BMWs.

If you don't put the first grill back in, the second grill is much easier to get out by going through the 1st grill hole to release the tabs.
Since I had everything opened up on the top, it was just as easy to reach over. The old taps had some plastidip on them, but it still came out easy
Kies Motorsports still don't understand why people plastidip when it's easier and cheap just to replace.
Yea, not a fan. I did it on my old Wrx, but it got weird after it baked in the sun
Just did my F32, not as easy as shown haha, f32 doesn't bend out as nicely, few scratches and cuts on hand, but didn't need to take the whole bumper off.
Some are easier than others, f32 isn’t bad but 6 series cars are a pain lol
Yea, mine feel like they’re superglued in there... they don’t want to come out.. ha.
I watched about 5 videos to learn this process and this was the best one. The reach through method just results in bent clips and it makes it so much more difficult to push through. I spent 15 minutes scraping my fingers through the grill, it took less time to do it like this and far less painful on the fingers. My mineral grey 330D looks so much better now

Thanks for this mate. Just did mine on my f31, used the same m3 style ones as you. I found my bumper wasn't as flexible as yours looks, but I got it done in the end. Looks great! Front splitter next I think!

well... I just did my f80 2016...the bumper did not bend as easily as shown and it was difficult to get my hand inside ...but in the end I made it . thanks for the video
I tried to do this on 430i Gran Coupe. There's no way to place your hand inside - it's like it has whole additional metal part across entire bumper which I'm not sure I can match looking at this car. Or at least it's so tightly placed I simply can't push my hand properly inside.
Brian what's a good way to give an F30 dual exhausts, one on each side, any recommendations?

If you want to save yourself the job of releasing the bumper. You can reach the clips with back of a bike spoke and release them. 7 Minutes and the job is done

Couldn't bend my bumper quite far back enough to get my whole arm in during cold weather. I'll wait til summer
Warm weather makes a difference, think if I did mine on a cold day, it would not have been so flexible.

This can be done without need for any tools or opening the top part of the bumper and thus no alignment issues or risk cracking bumper plastic. Great updated nonetheless.

Good video. I installed the black grills on a F32, same procedure. I found it easier to start with unclipping the centre clip near the middle first as these were the hardest to unclip.
Great video, but it was a lot harder than it looked. The grills on my F34 took a lot of force to pop out.
Good video, shame I don't have a competent guy like you here in Ireland, was going to get the easy access fitted to the drivers door for wireless access but I can't find someone will to take on the challenge!!!

Nice video, but the grill install is about 200% more difficult than you made it out to be. They do not just pop right out on the F32. Took a lot more maneuvering to get them unclipped. I did find your notes on lining up the screws quite helpful.
My new double slat glossy black grills are 🔥 though.
I have a F32 too and when I had to remove mine that was such a pain in the ass wayyyy more difficult than he made it out to be in the vidro and the clips on F32 are also way harder to get them unclipped.
I have a much easier way, so the old ones are garbage right? Just break em, then slide new ones in. Done!
Just did the same thing on my M4, but the bumper doesn't flex outwards nearly as much as in the vid. Was a bit more difficult on the F82, but I just removed one grill, and used that big opening to get the other one out.
Nice! Yea, I haven't done an M4 Grille, but I did a 6 series, and it was a lot more rigid than an F30

How about on a 2020 G20 M340xi. I have the hideous gold/bling stock grill, BMW now sells a black grill but wants $169. to install. I've swapped out grills on an 2011 550i, that was easy.
I removed the top brackets and 2 12mm. plastic allen screws from the lower outside on the G20. I can't see or feel were the bottom is clipped in. Any ideas?
Looks much better with these grills... I will replace them on my f34!!

did installation today. All bolts take the same size Torx bit (2014 328i). Total time was 45 minutes including a break to go back and look at the video several times.

my bumper doesn't bend that much. also i have some additional rubber inside and barely reach the corner clips on top...bottom ones no chance...i'm just gonna take the bumper of...because i'm trying to bend it and i'm afraid it'll snap
Me being the lazy bastard that i am; initially tried the “easy” way yo pop those grills, by not unbolting the bumper and simply trying to pop the grill by getting my fingers trough the grill. Ended up with sore fingers and unbolting the bumper for easier access. Do it right, do it once
just did mine F32. Simple. If you got big hands like me start from top like this guy did. and take the other side out once you have one of them off that way you can just reach in. Dont be scared to pull on bumper a little bit it gives a good amount of pull but dont go hulk on it either. Took me about 30 min
I just did this with my 2018 440i. Newer models don’t let you pull the front of the car as far back so putting your hand in the car is almost impossible. The best way to do this is using a screwdriver as a lever to pop each tag without even opening the face of the car. I don’t know why nobody has made this video it’s definitely the best method
Do you know if the m3 grill if a differently shaped the m4 grill. Basically what I wanna figure out if a m3 grill fit in the 335! M sport

I did this about two weeks ago on my f36 and I did not really need to undo any screws and bother with bumper realignment. I just squeezed my fingers through the grill slats and undid the latches. It is a tight squeeze and my fingers were a bit sore, but after around 10 minutes I was done. Also dont put the new grill in when you still have the other old one on! Put your hand through the hole and reach out to undo the latches on the second grill. It makes it so much easier.. ;)
Having just done this, the worrying part is bending the front end of your 25K pride and joy to get your hand down to reach the tabs. Took me an hour and a half to get the first one out and I still broke off two of the tabs, they are quite brittle if pushed the wrong way. If you break the tabs off it doesn’t really matter if you’re not interested in retaining the old chrome grilles, it doesn’t affect the new installation. After removing one grille, don’t put the new grille in, as you can use the hole to reach through to find the tabs on the second. It took me 5 mins to fit the second one. Check the bonnet / fender gap afterwards, you may need to make a small adjustment when tightening the screws down to ensure an equal bonnet / fender gap all the way along. Note, some manufacturers provide a tool to reach down to the tabs. I wish I’d known that before scraping the skin off my hand!!

Fist off, I love your videos. I’m not super mechanically inclined but your videos give me the confidence to do some of these jobs so thanks for all the content! lol I love how easily these cooperated for you. Mine didn’t start to budge till the last 2 clips. My tabs were hard enough that i used a plastic trim tool to push them down. But in the end they look great on my car! Also, thank you for letting us know what tools we’ll need to do the job. I love not having to lug my whole tool box next to my car.

Is the grill removal process the same on the lci (post-2015)? I cant get mine to come off..

I just did this yesterday on my F31 LCI, same gloss black M3 style kidneys, looks so much better than the chrome ones.

Theyve actually designed the grill so ypu can put your finger in it and undo the clips they just pop out like that its way easier

If you take 1 side out you can reach from the gap Tru the other side its a little bit easyer specially on the lci

You can take the whole bumper off to replace the grilles. I know more screws to remove but a lot easier to remove the grilles. Less bending the bumper at well.

Great video, I just got my new grilles today and will be putting them on. I can’t wait to see it as I have the same color on my 340i. I got the M style with the M colors (I wanted the all black but I guess I wasn’t paying 100% attention when I ordered!) and this will be my first modification of the car. I have only owned it for two weeks and plan to work my way into more updates-these videos are a big help, thanks!

The easiest way to take out the second grill is to reach into the hole of the first grill you take off.
you don't need a drill they just come off lol
