This guy makes it look super easier than what it is. Really fiddly job but following his instructions I had it done in under an hour. Thanks for the vid! The pick was a life saver.
Cinematography from inside the bumper was genius. A few tips... - Wear a long sleeve shirt, since you have to reach in behind the bumper with your arms. The bumper plastic at the top is super thin and flexible. - The T30 and T25 screw washers should be marked with a silver or white marker around the perimeter This allows you to screw them back into the same exact locations. This preserves the gap between the hood and the bumper edges. A proper gap isn't automatic. - Start with the bottom kidney grille clips and pull up with your fingers, while pulling the kidney grill out. The clips tend to pop back in. - The pick tool is a slick idea. You might be able to avoid unscrewing the top of the bumper and just use your fingers or the pick tool starting with the bottom clips. Some folks use a coat hanger (the hook end) in place of the pick tool. - Fatal flaw is to NOT install the new 1st kidney, until the 2nd grille is removed. After the 1st kidney grille it out, you can reach the 2nd kidney grill thru that opening and don't need to come in from behind from the top. Capt. Obvious. - Patience Grasshopper. Challenge: BMW E9X headlight module replacement and even resealing the plastic lens. Or full replacement using BMW OEM vs OE parts.
If you have the angle pick tool like I did, removal was a breeze from the outside. Didn’t have to loosen the bumper. Got it replaced in 10 minutes without breaking any clips.
Thanks for the vid! My 2014 335i had a different style of tab - had to push down instead of lift up. The pick tool still worked great for that after opening up the bumper cover. Don’t try this without the pick tool!
I followed this guide and it worked out well. The only thing I did differently was once I had one grille off using the pick, I went through the hole the removed grille left and with a long flathead screwdriver easily pressed the clips for the second grille.
I bought the angled screw driver and did it first time in 5 mins. P.s you dont have to open the bonnet. You literally just use your hands to put outwards pressure and use the angled screwdriver to clip off the clips.
Revove the bumber cover and its no where near as flexbale as yours, i can move mine enought to flit my hand how to pop the grill clips. Any idea? Its moves slighty but its as if somthjng is restricting it from pulling out more.
Did mine this afternoon.....15 mins. Unfortunately, i dropped the last screw through the engine bay into the tray under the car. Absoluteky gutted. Any suggestions for an easy retrieval on a postcard please. 😊
How do I know the size of the grill I need? (How do I measure) Here’s the deal. I bought a bumper second hand of another e46 for my 323i. The hood sticks out a little in the front because it’s a newer model I’m guessing. And I don’t know what car it came off of. I’ve bought 2 sets of grills already, both wrong size. One was small ( for my 323i OEM )and bought another set for 2003 3 series and it was weird shape. Did not fit. How do I find the right size?
depending on the age of the car the original black trim fades to a purple hue. you can find the fog light grille replacement online but idk about the center trim piece for the bumper

No it’s easy af you don’t even need to remove the bumper cover you can reach in and grab all the tabs and take it out in like 3 minutes
@@The_k1d206 not easy…

Where to buy pick tool? Amazon?
Amazon sells it, but you can probably find it cheaper from your local hardware store or Harbor Freight. .
Camera angles are insane
Just changed mine this evening... only took about 15 minutes thanks to this great video. I can't imagine trying this without the pick tool!
Glad it helped, and yeah a good set of picks will come in handy more often than you think!
Did you buy the one they have in the description?

Just installed them and they are gorgeous for a black f30 model
Something so subtle can make such a big difference!
Absolutely fantastic
Did mine in 15 mins
Thank you
Great job!
The best teacher!

Good note!
How long of an angled pick would you recommend? My 3 inch one was too short.

I'm trying right now. CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT!!
Hey bro can you make a video how to update LED light in the f30

Any advice if the inner clips towards emblem fit loosely? Or actually do not fully clip…
did you ever figure this out? I’m having this problem currently.
gloss or matte ? my F25 need black ones ( Msport all white and black piano even roof rails )
and the only "chrome" is the grill .... thinking .
White on black is clean with out chrome
Thanks for the vid
Please do this on the latest models.....!
Why did You have to take those screws out tho? You really don’t need to
Because he's a fkn scam and if somebody needs to bring their car and he can overcharge them 🤣🤣
I'm baffled too. Why even bother removing top section of bumper ?

Ik this video is old but is the part that holds your fog lights stock? I also have that color and always wondered why it was purple
depending on the age of the car the original black trim fades to a purple hue. you can find the fog light grille replacement online but idk about the center trim piece for the bumper
I did this and the kidney grille warning light came on
Much better !!!
Я хочу сделать такую решетку для своего Hyundai )
Can we also get the trim just inboard of the fog lamps in black as well?
yes you can remove and paint them
where do i get the tools for the screws
seriously? Lowes, Walmart, Harbor Freight, Autozone, etc, etc, etc... they are generic tools- anywhere that sells screwdrivers....
Really don't like the black grill...it cheapens the look. Chrome looks premium and great contrast. Personal taste I guess.
I feel that way about black rims
Racist about kidney grills ? Seen it all
