    I think Vanessa Atler is still one of the best vaulters we have ever had.

      I loved her style. She was so good in spite of her bars issues.

      I agree, if they focused only on specialists back when she was competing, she never would’ve had to worry about bars and those nerves would not have affected her on the other events.

      So true. Such a shame. Imagine her sticking her best vaults in Sydney. She could have definitely medalled on Vault finals. 😢

    Ugh, it's so creepy seeing that Nassar waste of space when I watch old videos now (16:15).

      Will you please not bring him up? It's not about him. When you say stuff like that you're making it about him and the girls' trauma instead of celebrating the athletes' success.

    I loved Tabitha's exuberance and spirit. And Beth Rybacki always did a great job with the choreography. The Glider girls all had great floor routines every year. It's too bad Tabitha got injured right after 2004 Olympic Trials because I would have loved to see her in Athens.

      Alessia She's awesome! She used to be a figure skater too. She's currently a coach at the University of Arizona gymnastics team. Her father worked in a career as a radio host before he passed away.

      Cause they got rid of compulsaries. If you watch in 96 they don't walk back to the corner.

    Dang, this was the quad where everyone is injured. Hearing about Jordan's injuries at the start of her floor routine was just awful.

  • @abrahamlora329

    Sucks that Tasha and Tabitha kept getting injured in 2002 and 2003. They could never upgrade their routines as they were always getting back these skills instead of being able to build on them for more difficulty

    I shudder to think of the longterm consequences of competing with a serious back injury like that. Later in life I'll bet she's got major issues. I say that from personal experience. I didn't let a back injury heal when I was young- and have now had two surgeries.

    As much as I loved Tabitha's gymnastics I wish she would have taken a page from Nina Kim's book. They had similar styles and rhythm on balance beam and floor exercise, but Nina's routines looked far more elegant and graceful because, while she moved quickly, she also took her time so her movements didn't look as jerky, rushed, and disjointed as Tabitha's did.

  • @dustintillman3101

    I think when compulsory routines left, it hurt the sport. Took a few years but yeah it did.this year some of the artistry was still there.

    Atlanta happened because the team was full of talent and they were consistent. Sydney overall was a complete disaster and couple that with a us team that was missing key players. The US had no chance in 2000 because they simply did not have the depth or talent to win unfortunately

    • @saragrant9749
      @saragrant9749 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true. When Morgan got hurt I knew they’d come home with nothing, the rest were just too inconsistent. Only Alice had a possibility, but even she proved too unreliable. I will say though that it’s despicable they had to wait TEN years to get their rightful team medals from the cheating Chinese- that should have cost that country dearly, more than just a loss of medals.
      Come 2004 we had a much more powerful team, and I knew they wouldn’t come home empty handed.

    "We need a new USA gymnastics federation." The irony of that statement knowing now what was going on back then probably at the b height of the abuse by Nasar.

    • @saragrant9749
      @saragrant9749 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. The part that angers me most isn’t the fact that he got away with it for so long (believe me, it makes me livid), nor the fact that those monsters the Karolis allowed it to occur- it’s that MARY LOU RETTON KNEW ABOUT IT!! She did nothing to stop any of the abuse! She may have won the first American Olympic all around gold, but she deserves no respect in the sport at all for that. If she’s in any hall of fame her name should be removed, she’s just as much a despicable monster as the rest.
