I was offered these types of tests too. Being 39 when I was pregnant with my last child, I was a little concerned about the baby’s health. I opted for the blood test. If anyone reads this, PLEASE know that I am not judging or condemning anyone who doesn’t think like me.
My reason for the blood test was to be prepared if anything was wrong with the baby. I did not want to terminate, regardless. I just felt like I didn’t have a right to terminate a baby that G-d made for me. But my heart goes out to any family that has a baby with serious defects and the decisions they have to make. But for me, I just wanted to be prepared mentally and have doctors ready if my baby was going to have problems. Thankfully, nothing was wrong and delivered a healthy baby girl.
I also declined the amniocentesis because I would never forgive myself if I had caused the miscarriage. My heart aches for your friend who lost her twins!!! That is so devastating and heartbreaking!!!! I pray she will find healing. 🙏 ❤
Another thing I think is that doctors and tests can be wrong. Just because a test or ultrasound shows something, is not a 100% guarantee. I also would never forgive myself if I had terminated a healthy baby because of a faulty test. Only G-d knows everything about the baby and the final result.
I kinda have to agree with the view that this can cause undue stress on the mom and puts her in a stressful moral dilemma that she wouldn’t have if she had declined the test.
But I’m so glad you got through the amniocentesis without any issues! I was told it would hurt, so that was another reason I declined!!!
But every mom has to do what she feels is right. So no judgement here if she feels like she needs these tests!!!
I do hope you are enjoying your pregnancy and are not stressed out! Unfortunately with my last baby I developed lots of anxiety. I was just worried about her because I had wanted a little girl for so long. You are in my prayers!!!! ❤❤❤❤ 🙏 🙏 May G-d continue to bless you and protect you and your baby!! ❤
By the way, I like your new scarf! Looks good on you! 😊
    Your friend,
    Karen ❤ 🌸 🇺🇸 🇮🇱 🤝 ❤ 💪

Shalom! I just gave birth 2 months ago to a healthy baby boy. He is my 6th child. And I'm 42 years old. I decided not take the test because I couldn't bare to lose him and I wouldn't take the chance.

Thanks for sharing! 💕 Mazal tov to you and your family! 😊
I have a friend who gave birth recently at age 41, also decided not to. But here in Israel, she did have to withstand pressure from Drs. 😳 Hope your Drs were nicer 😊

Don t be Angry. My mother got her first child (me😊) older than You. And she got three other ones in 4 years. All four are living well now nearly in the 70ies. Not easy for my mother and father. Kavod to You! 👼🏻

I am pregnant at 42 , have amniocentesis in 2 weeks.
    Is it a painful?

Godspeed 🙏🙏 best of luck 💕💕
      I discuss this at min 15 😊
For me it was less painful even than a blood test. Some friends of mine had it like myself, while a few other friends of mine said more unpleasant than that ...
So depends.. 😲 hope it goes great and with no pain at all 🙏🙏

I’m not sure if you got my email about a book review. I resent it and hope it went through (a few weeks back). But I am still reading the book “Mothers to Mothers- Women across the Globe Share the Joys and Challenges of Jewish Motherhood “ by Julie Hauser. I know book recommendations are hit or miss, but I really can’t recommend this book enough! It makes me feel like I’m not alone and has really encouraged me and has so much wisdom! Even though I’m not Jewish, our motherhood bonds us women together and some things are the same for all us moms, regardless of our beliefs. ❤ I got mine from ArtScroll book company. I really think you’d like it. It is easy to read and has little snippets of info from the women she interviewed. Like 10 small paragraphs from 10 different women on their thoughts on a certain topic. And, please know that what is suggested by gov’t doesn’t always reflect the opinion of the people 😢
