I've seen a lot of new comments on this video since I originally posted it 3 years ago. For those of you who are seeing this now - my daughter Grace was in fact born with Down Syndrome and she is the best thing to ever happen to me (along with her sisters of course :) ). A lot of you have found this video because you've had some indication in pregnancy that your child may also have a chance of having Down Syndrome. I know it is scary. Especially if you have had no experience with the Down Syndrome community. These feelings are completely normal and valid. Please know that as someone who was also very afraid.. and has come through the other side.. that no matter what happens it will be okay. Know that I wouldn't change my daughter for anything in the world. She is such a blessing and the most beautiful soul. I am so blessed to have her (and her siblings) in my life. I feel so lucky to have found myself a member of this amazing community. Everything will be okay. Sending you all lots of love.
Bridgette Hattingh I’m considering it! Just a lot going on trying to watch three littles! (We have an even newer addition now!) I do post fairly regularly on Instagram though. If you wanted to follow along you can find me @lizgarkowski
I was told my son was high risk for downs because of the raised nt measurement AS WELL AS my blood test but I declined invasive testing and thank God I gave birth to a healthy baby boy last month
Im happy for. At 13 weeks 2 days they found 2.92mm they said the bby has a chance. But i didnt undergo some test. I pray to God that my baby is normal.
Raisa Habacon I pray that your baby will be fine ! My babies measurement was was about 3.5 I think but I never lost faith I knew he was perfectly ok so I didn’t give in to all those invasive risky tests. He came out fine in the end! So don’t let such news ruin your pregnancy..it can be scary but stay strong Your baby will be fine 🙏🏽🙏🏽
When they did my anatomy scan for my 1st daughter they found an echogenic intercardiac focus and told me that that was a marker for Down Syndrome. Everything else was normal so they said it might be something it be nothing. I can't lie and say I didn't freak out because I did but I held hope that nothing was wrong because they couldn't see anything else. My daughter came out at 39 weeks, perfect as can be ❤
I was told the day I had my 1 hour anatomy scan that my son would have a 10 percent chance of Down syndrome. I had to take a blood test & 4 weeks later I got my results at my visits and everything came back negative. I thank god !! 🙏
Do not judge women who have abortions when they find out they're having a child with down syndrome, not everyone is strong enough to handle and take on that kind of responsibility it's not easy.
True. Not everyone is strong enough to deal with that type of situation, but then again.. people don’t have to go and murder their poor little innocent babies just because they can’t cope with it 💔 Adoption is always an option!!! #AllLivesMatter
with my DD at the anatomy scan they found 2 markers for downs: hypoplastic nasal bone and fluid in her kidneys. They also said she had clubbed feet. She was born perfectly fine with none of the above, so apparently scans can be totally wrong! Just want to give you some hope. I hope everything turns out okay mama❤
@@jeseniaanabelwow I'm wondering if there just telling people this in hoping they will abort . Nothing surprises me considering the times we're living in
I got a call that I'm at high risk. And then told me to go and get the amnio diagnostic test but I said no. 1 because there is a risk of miscarriage. And 2 was because, down syndrome or not. I will love my baby no matter what. My love won't change nor the test would change my mind about anything either. I'm excited. It's my little blessing ♥
That was exactly how I felt. The results wouldn’t change our love or how we would proceed so we didn’t want to take the risk. Did they do the blood test to determine that you were high risk. Congratulations on your beautiful blessing
My son was suppose to be born with downs syndrome and the Dr was suprise when he came out. He didn't have downs syndrome. We also didn't do the testing because if he was going to have downs we were going to love him. But he came out healthy and normal.
Hey hi, how is your baby doing. Is there any growth milestone which he is not passing. I had my 13 week ultrasound and the dr told me that my baby might have a down syndrome. He said that he have a thick neck. And the nt is 4.5. I am wondering what was your nipit result and what was nt for you. Thanks in advance
I just got a phone call today saying my baby is at high risk for Down syndrome and they’re gonna run another test to be for sure. Pray for me. I mean I’d love the kid either way
I had my 12 weeks ultrasound, they said the same thing and we choose to get blood test instead the amniocentesis. Now we are waiting for the result and hoping that everything is fine. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Its been 6yrs I pray that both your girls are thriving. I’m currently 37yr old 18wks Pregnant. Quad Test came back positive and the ultra sound was normal. Although I didn’t freak out about the positive quad because I knew no matter what I’m keeping my baby girl I still want to be informed and prepared. So im current doing research. It really is such a taboo topic. Im half way there and this can go either way it’s just comforting to have others with experience who can help guide me through the process.
I think some people do not want to know before the baby is born because some people feel it's a more enjoyable pregnancy without extra worry. Should the baby be born with an abnormality, parents are still able to prepare for and care for a child with special needs once the baby is born. Not testing doesn't make parents "ill prepared" or negligent to possible needs. So even though it might be a good idea to YOU, it's not always the case for all. It's all about personal preference.
I have a downs brother and when I found out I was pregnant, I came to conclusion that I will love the child no matter what. Specially when 2yrs ago I was told that my chances of having a child is very low due to some medical issues in the past. All I did was research and prepare for it, thankfully my baby is perfectly healthy.
I had my 20 week anatomy scan last week and the baby’s head is measuring 2-3 weeks smaller than expected. The doctor is referring for for an MRI for a better picture and blood tests to rule out infections. My partner and I are devastated that something could be wrong with our baby, but at the same time we are accepting that our baby may just be born special! I very much needed with video and positivity towards the situation in general, thank you!
I know how scary it can be to hear something could be wrong. I spent my entire pregnancy worried. I definitely had to work through some emotions but holding Grace in my arms... just melted away all the fear. She has Down Syndrome and is perfect.. I honestly wouldn't change a thing. If you need to chat feel free to find me on instagram.. I'm more responsive there and always available for support
The Harmony test is 99% accurate for Singleton pregnancies but not as accurate for twin pregnancies. Just a little fact for Singleton pregnancies. Although being worried about Downs is understandable, we love to look at it as an ability not a disability. Kids and adults with Downs have the biggest hearts of anyone you will ever meet! It will be a lot different than a child without Downs and the health risks are scary. Sending a lot of love. ❤️ Your daughters are beautiful!
I am 15 weeks pregnant. Few days ago i got a call from my hospital and they said that in my blood test they have found that i have high risk of down syndrome pregnancy. After hearing that i can't sleep, can't eat and I feel rest less all the time. I cry day and night, doing bad behavior with all my family members though I don't want to do that with them but it happened all the time and cursing myself why me why always me??? I think i am a bad person thats why it happened to my baby. My baby have to bear all the pain of my sins. I had done the nipt test yesterday and i am waiting for my result. I need blessings from all of you plz pray for my baby that the result came negative. Its my first baby after a long time i naturally conceived. Can't bear the pain anymore can't tell any one how I feel every second. I need prayers that's all.
I know how scary it can be to get the news. I was very upset at first too. But know my daughter has been such a blessing. If you feel up for it.. check out some families on Instagram that have children with Down syndrome. See what their lives are like and the joy there. Honestly it really helped put my mind and heart at ease when I first was processing my emotions
My baby born with low birth weight 1100 gm. Baby was in the nicu for 28 days. He is a premature baby. I had an emergency c section bcz my placenta was not working well. The baby was not getting enough food from me thats why he grows small. Now the baby is with me and doing fine. The baby don't seem to me down syndrome or anything else. The doctor also said the same.
I was told the same also, had something in my blood test about trisomy 21, So I end up getting a NIP Test which cost me $700. Took 2 weeks before I get the results, and according to the NIP test, everything is negative. I was crying for 2 weeks, I can’t even think while waiting for the results. I think they should investigate thoroughly before spilling any beans because like me I have had severe Hyperemesis from 1-6 months I can’t stop vomiting. And any bad news doesn’t help.
I completely agree with u , it really give too much stress and pressure while pregnant, and without confirmation they shouldn’t come to assurance.. its scary .. i am going through that same torture, and i cnt stop crying.. it always runs in the back of my mind… and cnt be normal till u get the results.. pls pray for me ..🙏🏻😢
My niece, 37, did IVF after A miscarriage nine years ago and a tubal pregnancy one year ago, in which she lost her Fallopian tube. She and her husband did do PGS testing. The first implant did not take, now this implant the dr. saw thickening in the neck, she thought that it was possible that it was a chromosome abnormality Trisomy 18. She went and had the test, the name escapes me at the moment, that is done between 11 and 13 weeks. This test came back at a 1.3. (It wasn’t supposed to be over 3 and not under 1) and she was told that that was a good measurement and that they do not believe that her baby girl has any chromosome abnormalities. It breaks my heart to hear these stories 😢 Every one wants a healthy baby and pregnancy 🤰 I will keep all of you in my prayers❣️ and like the one comment that was made... I also believe no matter what... all of your babies will be perfect the moment you hold them! ❤️🙏
Hi my friend and her husband are struggling to have kids. But her husband have 2 daughters from his previous relationship. Can you please help and explain how the IVF work??
My wife has NT value of 3.5 mm and subsequently her blood results for down syndrome is 1 in 50. Now, she will going to do invasive test on her's 16 th week. I am praying god that everything will be fine 🙏
@@ronyroy8739 yes it is amniocentesis. Report comes negative and she continued her pregnancy. A girl baby girl was born to us. She is active and normal. Now, we are happy. Thanks a lot god
I m really glad to find out too many kind and brave souls here, salute to them for their unconditional love for their babies! Love and namaste from India!
I did Down syndrome testing during my pregnancy everything was negative. My baby was born with Down syndrome and we live him so much. I’m pregnant again and I’m doing all test even amniotic testing 🙏🏼
Elizabeth Garkowski I’m still pregnant 4 months, same as you having twin , I just got the amniocentesis test Results , it says that one of my twins having a Down syndrome 💔 I’m freaked out cuz this is my first pregnancy, I’m afraid that I can’t raise him and take care of him especially that there is another child will born with him 😢 how can I get red of all these fears , I’m depressed and so scared 😔
I assure you, you absolutely can do it! The diagnosis is scary at first. But taking care of this baby will feel no different to you than taking care of their twin. Once you hold that baby you will be overwhelmed with love. I don't even see the diagnosis.. she is just my daughter Grace. No different to me than her sister. Its okay to be scared and overwhelmed at first.. I went through it as well and I think most people do. But I assure you that you will come through those feelings and its a beautiful love on the other side.
As humans, we are scared of the unknown. Society makes down syndrome to be a curse, which can fill your mind full of negative thoughts. Having any baby is a beautiful thing no matter what. It's a gift as some are unable to have children. The child will love you and you will love him/her back. No worries :)
Sean Carter my daughter was born with Down syndrome. I was intimidated by the unknown when I was pregnant. But she is the greatest gift. I wouldn’t change a thing about her or her sister. They are perfection in my eyes!
Thank you so much for posting, exactly what I needed to hear (I know it was posted a while ago) I had a blood test done first and our chances were 1:1450, during my 20week ultrasound they found 1mm excess fluid (normal is 10mm, our baby has 11mm) in the brain which minor Ventriculomegaly, which changed our chances for Down syndrome to 1:164, the next week I went in for another ultrasound and they noticed another soft marker which is the nuchal fold measuring an extra centimetre over their “maximum”, they told us that was the biggest one they look for and it changed our chances again to 1:9. We had decided the exact same that the amnio was too much of a risk and we are still going to proceed with the pregnancy regardless but it definitely is a scary feeling while being pregnant. This is my first child and I just want it to be healthy, with downs or not.
+Kelly Staruch I completely understand what you are feeling! I spent most of my pregnancy worried about it and what it would mean. Not sure if you’ve seen any of my newest videos but my daughter was born with Down syndrome. We have been so lucky in that she has been very healthy. I was most worried about her heart but hers is fine. Will they do a fetal echo for you to check? Even though we didn’t do the amino to confirm they still proceeded like she had Down syndrome and we had extra screenings done while pregnant to make sure the right teams were in place when she was born should she need them. Again we didn’t which I’m so grateful for. Feel free to follow me on Instagram for more updates on her (@lizgarkowski) But I want to reassure you that Down syndrome isn’t as scary as I made it out to be. I wouldn’t change a thing. She is such a perfect baby!
I don’t have notifications on often apparently 🤣 when I wrote this it was well into my pregnancy but I didn’t realize at the time it would be cut short. I did not end up doing the NIPT test, we kept up with frequent Fetal assessments since we had so many signs already from the health issues on the ultrasound that we didn’t feel it was necessary. The two issues I mentioned at first were no risk to the baby but while pregnant I also found he had a blockage in his intestines, he needed surgery a few days after birth to get corrected. My son, Greyson, was stressed in the womb and I ended up having and emergency Csection at 33w2d 😬 he was 3 pounds even and had surgery at 2.5 days old. His heart was fine, he had a murmur for a month which closed but other than that we’ve had no heart issues :) We did however get diagnosed with hypothyroidism but he just takes a small pill for that everyday and not a high risk medical emergency. A few health hiccups but nothing that wasn’t corrected almost immediately :) had a really good 2 years but then we were diagnosed with aml leukemia, going to the hospital literally tomorrow morning to start round 2 and will be there for 4-5 weeks. But let me tell you I have the CUTEST and funniest kid ever 🤣 and everyone is obsessed with his cuteness everywhere he goes
* I would have done the NIPT but we were preeeetttyyyy sure already and then I gave birth a few short weeks after the conversation but if it weren’t for that I probably would have taken that test just to mentally prepare before the baby arrived.
Right nw I'm facing that rollercoaster stage.. Its my first pregnancy n today i hv done my 20th week ultrasound screening.. They said all the baby organs were amazing.. But at the end they kept a twist saying ur baby's nasal elbow is not seen in the scan which might be a chance of having down syndrome! Og my god. It ws heartbreaking for us suddenly.. Bcz we didn't had any particular idea about all these chromosome syndromes. They suggested us to do amniocentesis test (they said 100%accuracy )which is basically inserting a needle directly into ur abdomen wen the small portion of ur placenta is not occupied by baby n take out 20cc of amniotic fluid for testing.. But this process has a risk of miscarriage 1 in 300!! Now we have decided to go ahead with NIPT which is non invasive method which only needs a small amount of mother's blood (they said 99%accurate result).. So I'm going to get that test done n will wait for the results.. Hope everything goes well with my baby🙏 Update: I hv got my baby's NIPT result.. By god grace everything is perfect. It came out negative 😍
@@KellyGeeKid Thank u dear.. By d way I hv got my baby's result. It came out negative.. Don't worry about ur baby too.. I hope n pray it vl cm out negative.. More power to you n ur baby💐😍
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My daughter has been such a gift and her sisters cherish her as I know you did yours. It's a very special relationship. Sending lots of love
My "maternal serum fetal screening test" was positive for tri21(down syndrome) he had a Thick NT scan, he has a heart defect and no nose cartilage visible. I'm in tears. They tell me the honestly think he has down syndrome. I'm having the amniocentisis tomorrow. I don't known if that will change anything. I'm scared. Has anyone had all of these issues during pregnancy and deliver a healthy baby? Please share your story
Hi, at 13 week ultrasound the dr told me that my baby might have diwn syndrome. He have a liquid under his neck .nt is 4.5. What was your outcome. If you please share your experience.
Im 21 and my baby was measured as 5.9 with a risk of ds in 21 weeks..since I haven't done NIPT test, the doctors suggested to do it.....Hoping it turns ourt negative..dear lord ,please have mercy on my baby🙏🙏🤧💔
We had a larger than typical nuchal fold reading for one of our twins too. Combined with my age our risk was 1:35. We decided against the amino. The morphology scan pretty much ruled out DS but we had to wait until they were born to know for sure. She didn’t have DS. Part of me had completely accepted, and even grown excited by the prospect that she might have DS. That part grieved a little for the baby with DS we didn’t get.
I just had to give blood for the same issue. I was told that we could choose to abort if it came to pass which I was not having. I dont care if it comes back 100% the baby did not choose this it just choose life.
John & Jamie Duross Family I don’t know why doctors push that as a first option. And let me tell you how my daughter Grace was born with Down syndrome and she is the happiest baby. She is loving life with her sister and we are loving life with her. I was scared when I was pregnant but once I held her in my arms I knew it was going to be okay and it didn’t matter if she had a diagnosis or not. Either way she is the light of my life (well both her and her sister are of course!) my best wishes to you and your family ❤️
@@tappingwithliz because not everyone is strong enough to handle a child with ds and before you neglect the child or abuse them its better to send it back to the creator.
Hi am in 16 weeks now and got a call that there is a complication on trisomy 18 and 21, and they recommend me to do harmony test i did it 2 days a go and waiting for the results , I am 27 years d and newly married , this all thing is new page for me, I had no idea about all this things, was not expecting it, I am really heartbroken and restless for this 3 days, please any one who can share any experience with me, I am alone here crying and praying , any body who can relief me pkease
So this is my second diagnosis for DS, I wasn't able to carry to term my first pregnancy but this time they didn't tell me the NT but my NIPT came back high risk at 51% .. has this happened to anyone? I'm assuming I'm a carrier of some sort. Doing amniocentesis soon just to get a full diagnosis. Anyone with similar experience please comment? ♥️
Im 36 yrs old and i got a call from my doc and told me it came out high risk now im gonna get another test i have 6 healthy babies but 2 miscarriages but im so very scared now i dont want to go thru another heartbreaking news 🙁😢🙁😢 please i just want it to come normal this time ☹️🙁☹️
Hi,I have same problem in my maternal serum test was something positive so go for genetic test, I m so worried about my pregnancy, it would be succeed or won't I hv my 7 years old,I had miscarriage before, so just pray to God only
My doctor adviced me to go nt scan with double marker after suffered from dengue fever 102.8 for 5 days at 6th week of first trimester now it's my 9 week. I don't know what hope should I get.just waiting for the scan date.i am very scary about what type of hope will get after I exit the scan room or seeing my results
M A why on earth would you do that??? It’s a needle in your tummy risking your child... if they have downs are you going to kill them? Fuck I’m over this earth
Something like this can happen that those machines and science, biology also not match result hahaha as reality that's why dont be afraid, and be in the mode of wait and see thingy, whatever if it our child we should love him or her with all of our heart, however we can do thing to prevent it to the minimum level of the risks or even good recovering, miracle happen anytime.. Never give up hope...
I have access fluid, small femur and measuring below the 1st sentile!!! Couldn’t give a F is she has DS I just want her to be happy 😊 I’m so over the whole situation I’m just happy to be having my third daughter and can’t wait to meet her 💚💚💚
In this case you could alway do a blood test (non invasive) after 10 weeks + 4 days called =Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) and they can tell you 99% if the baby has Down Syndrom, or other 2 trisomis. Great video - thank you!
Yes thank you! We did have that test done and it came back high risk. We all were pretty confident in the outcome but know they don’t consider that test diagnostic as well so they wouldn’t say she had it for sure until she was born. But it was definitely a super helpful test for those of us which don’t feel comfortable with the more invasive tests!
Sunita Sharma It’s a chromosome defect that is very rare and usually ends in death. 50% of babies with it die in the first week. Only 12% live past the first year. A lot of people choose to end the pregnancy because the baby won’t live very long at all.
My baby just had an abnormal NT measurement, I’ve had the blood test and I am waiting for results. It’s ok if my ba y has Down syndrome but I’m worried about the other abnormalities and heart and I’m just hoping everything is ok....I am so worried, thank you for this video.
It’s totally normal to be worried. I know those feelings so well. I remember being scared of the other ones as well. But if it comes back high risk for something know that Down syndrome is the most common. We also had a blood test done and it came back as high risk. Because of that they proceeded with the pregnancy as if they knew for sure one of my girls had Down syndrome. We got extra scans to check on her heart and digestive systems. So know that whatever they outcome they know how to best prepare and look after your little one. Thinking of you. I know the not knowing is one of the hardest parts. Feel free to reach out to me anytime. You can find me on Instagram or email me as well through this account! Sending love.
I am currently going through this right now. I went in for my ultrasound at 21 weeks and my baby girls nuchal fold is 8.1mm thick. Higher than normal I'm so FRIGHTEN right now
+MAG-nifique lee it is incredibly scary I know. I cried a LOT when we first found out. My baby girl was born with Down syndrome and now that she is here I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a single thing about her. She is the most loving and loveable baby and I can’t imagine her any other way. I know those feeling are hard to grapple with right now and might even sound fake. But I promise you once you hold your baby girl in your arms it won’t make a bit of difference if she has a diagnosis or not. She will be perfect because she is yours ❤️❤️❤️
Thank God that today i got my blood results back this morning and everything came back negative! I'm so thankful and blessed but i'm still in the what if position and going to go and get the amniocentesis don'e so I can rest my mind at ease. I know the blood test is enough but I want to be double sure so I don't have the what if lingering
MAG-nifique lee at 12weeks 6 days my baby's NT was 3.20mm nd my blood test came out 1in 55 they said may baby has the risk of have down syndrome im 14 weeks now and after two weeks ill do the amnio test im really shocked i cant sleep or eat all i do is crying and praying god to save my baby 😭😔
ruba sheikh lots of prayers to you my love, I went in thinking I'll do the amino but after the deep thorough ultrasound and the blood test I am blessed that my baby is safe and healthy. The doc. Doesn't know why I was false positive in the first place as my baby was said to have a high nuchal fold at 21 to 22 weeks which was not supposed to be checked. So doc rest assured that if I'm going to go do amino I probably just wanted to look for other genetics. I will send you love and prayers that you will get a false positive like me and that you will have a healthy baby 💞 lots of love. This has ruined my pregnancy though this is my 4th child it's my only daughter. I still worried but because information like this is traumatizing. Sending lots of prayers and love for you
I'm honestly so scared. My sister is only 14 weeks pregnant and her baby's nuchal fold is 7mm. We're waiting for the result of her blood test to come out. I googled a lot to find if there's been a similar case with a positive outcome but I couldn't find one. The cases I've come across were only about 3.0mm-5.2mm. At this rate, I don't even care if the baby has got Down Syndrome as long as she survives. I just want both of them to be okay.
Hi Lorriane.thanks for the quick respond. Praying to you and your baby fine and healthy. At 13 weeks my nt was 3.9mm.and i did NIPT it was low risk and normal.that is cool but docort told me it would be heart failier.he didnt confirm.and we dont know what will happen on next.now my 16th week
I got positive pregnancy test before 4 days period with high hcg range and having bleeding .yesterday i had scanning and dr said a big hole seen in baby' s head instead of skull.what i can do.i have no money take care of my baby .but we want a normal healthy baby..
We got double marker test which shows positive for trisomy 21. I'm surprised to see many are ok to have babies even after knowing it might have downs syndrome. Regardless we love ams care, aren't we putting though that baby in misery rest of the life?
I can assure you my daughter is far from miserable. She is one of the happiest kids I know. I encourage you to not just make assumptions about anyone's quality of life .. regardless of any sort of diagnosis. This is an incredibly ableist and stereotypical assumption. It isn't her that needs to change.. is this type of attitude
Thank you for this video. I'm also 14 weeks now and had the Harmony test yesterday. Scan looked great but now waiting for the blood results. I had a scan at the hospital a week ago and a combined bloodtest for downs, Pataus and Edwards. The Pataus and Edwards came back low risk but downs came back high risk at 1 in 33. Both at the hospital scan and the scan Wednesday at privet place for the Harmony test showed a normol NT and no flat nose. I'm so worried and I feel so overwhelmed and just scared. I have to wait 10 working days for the results. It's Easter next week so I don't know it that will delay it. Watching this video really did help me and I'm so happy I have seen this. Thank you
@@itsgirlyChannel hi my baby was born healthy he’s 10 months old now and we are tt. Again but sadly having a miscarriage. The only reason I got the high risk result with my son was because I was over 40.
My NT was 2.4 and here in the uk they say it has to be under 3.5 I was 13 weeks at the time. My screening cane back with 1 in 390 chance, which is classed as low risk. So I’m offered no further testing. Here in the uk we have free health care but options to pay for extra. I’m paying £400 for the NIPT tomorrow to see a more accurate result. I feel googling and comparing results has made this a whole let worse for me. Comparing the 74,000 in 1 chance compared to my 390. It if wasn’t for the internet I would of been happy with just having a low chance risk..
Katepalmer hi katepalmer i live in uk as well today we have our First ultrasound and we found that our NT is 3.7 and we are very worried about this what u will advice us ?
Saraan Iqbal oh hi! I ended up paying for the NIPT which came back completely clear - no issues everything is fine. And my 20 week scan was the same. The nhs need to change their system and take the number sats off the result as that’s what caused me the anxiety / and why I paid £400

Elizabeth, im in the exact same situation as you describe here. Twin A was "normal" but Twin B ( whom we also found out are both girls) had a nt scan of 4.5. We also opted for the nips blood test and were told with both results there is an 88% chance of downs....BUT they cant confirm which twin even though its likely to be baby B. Im seriously on the fence with the amniocentesis. On one hand we also tried so hard for these babies and God miraculously granted them to us before we started moving to ivf but on the other hand we know that Downs kiddos can really vary with ability levels, medical issues, heart defects etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And i thank you because I dont feel so alone after watching this video.
You aren’t alone! I understand the fear. I had many myself. We opted not to have the amnio but it’s a personal decision and everyone needs to do what’s best for them. There are risks medically that is true. But healthcare has come a long way to be able to help with that for the most part. It is different raising my daughter and comes with its own unique challenges. But so do my other ‘typical’ children if I’m being honest 😂 you know what is best for you. But know that it’s normal to be scared and have doubts.
At my 10 week ultrasound my baby had an NT of 2.4mm and 33mm CRL. My doctor told me it's still within the normal range, but recommended an NIPT test. Currently waiting for results!
Thank you so much for this video and congratulations on your babies! I was looking for information on pregnancy tests and how accurate they are as I'm trying to decide whether I'll even want to have them done?? I mean what happens after you get the results - how to decide what to do?! There are few comments here that ended up having "healthy" babies even though the doctors told them otherwise... Are there any statistics on what percentage of "risk" pregnancies ended up "normal"? I hope you all happy and healthy and hope your baby's heart is ok...
I just found out that My baby is high risk for Down syndrome and I’m so scared to find out when I got to the high risk doctor. I have definitely been overwhelmed. I am 20 weeks and this is also my first pregnancy. I’m only 21 so I don’t understand how anything like this can happen to me. Any advice ?
Is there any way your baby could have down syndrome if the nuchal fold is a low measurement? Mine is 0.22 and so I’m trying to research if I should even be worried…

Help!!! I'm 15 weeks now and they told me than my baby might have down syndrome I mean in high risk and i choose to do nothing but I'm taking aspirin 150 mg a day. do you guys think it's okay to take the medication?
Hi my age 25. my NT scan is 2mm. My NT scan and double marker test both came normal. But in tiffa scan it is showing 1% risk of down syndrome 1:2781. is it normal ?. Because doctor recommended NIPT test. But nipt test is very costly .I don't know wat to do. Full tension
My ultrasound showed the nuchal was a little bit thicker than the "norm" I'm a little bit worried and going for further testing but no matter what I will not terminate ..my worst fear is Edward syndrome because that would mean I will loose my baby either before or after birth , I work with adults with disabilities and will love my child no matter what God gives us but it's still very stressful not knowing exactly what it is that could be wrong , the waiting is the worst !
At 12 weeks my nt was 1.3 mm. However, after the blood test and factoring in my age, it came back that I have a 1 in 71 chance of DS. She said my hcg levels looked fine, so it must have been one of my other levels that was a concern. Part of me doesn't know if I want to do the NIPT test.
@@arwamahmood1386 Thank you Arwa! He is fine! Also, at that point turned out the doctor told me wrong...turns out the risk at that point was 1 in 170 and the geneticist was actually encouraged by that. So without thinking about it too much I did have the NIPT test done and it came out with a low risk of genetic abnormality, so I just left it there without further tests. I gave birth to a healthy little boy February 16th and touch wood, so far all seems good.
Hi, how's is your baby doing. Is he have a down syndrome or everything is good. Is he start walking. I also got a news that my baby may have a down syndrome and I don't know what to do.

I really needed to see this today, I found out a week almost 2 weeks ago that my baby's butterfly on the brain wasn't attached or didn't have enough tissue between it I think, I'm not sure what she said because I also did not research it before I went so I was clueless and so I forgot. But they had me go down to Colorado to do a scan and they found 3 deformations in my baby's brain and when I looked up a normal 29 week baby ultrasound brain pictures they do look pretty different.. I'm not sure what that means though exactly.. and then she said it could just be genetic because it's nothing I could have done to have caused it, but mine was a low risk and he has a healthy daughter already.. but the doctor also said she think plenty of people in the world have the same thing but that it's not somthing we notice and it coukd be mild.. I wish I just knew for sure but I don't want the invasive testing.. how would you even tell your baby has something wrong at birth? Or does it just happen.
I have a question; Can something happen to chromosomal composition between week 10 and 15? I tested low risk on NIPT 1:10,000 *fetal fraction 7.1% at 10 weeks . However, quad test showed high risk Trisomy 21 (1:118) and Trisomy 18 (1:68). 20 week’s anatomy scan is normal. NT was never done. I just want to know if something could go wrong during pregnancy between week 10 and 15? When do the chromosomes stop the arrangement? I thought maybe you know…
Just had a nine week scan (baby measuring to actually be 11weeks old so dunno what happened there) we were trying for so long for second baby and crushed me to hear thick neck and maybe down syndrome.. Seeing this video and the comments definitely helping me.
So glad to hear this ! Would love it if you resumed your video posts - your videos are truly great

Hi! Did you have an NIPT done? How did everything turn out?
What test did you have? What was the final outcome?
hi how is your baby
Do not judge women who have abortions when they find out they're having a child with down syndrome, not everyone is strong enough to handle and take on that kind of responsibility it's not easy.
candy R agree with you
True. Not everyone is strong enough to deal with that type of situation, but then again.. people don’t have to go and murder their poor little innocent babies just because they can’t cope with it 💔 Adoption is always an option!!! #AllLivesMatter
They will be judged by God instead
Because they want to protect them .
I totally disagree with you
with my DD at the anatomy scan they found 2 markers for downs: hypoplastic nasal bone and fluid in her kidneys. They also said she had clubbed feet.
She was born perfectly fine with none of the above, so apparently scans can be totally wrong! Just want to give you some hope. I hope everything turns out okay mama❤
God bless 🤩😇

I'm told my son is at risk of downs because of fluid on his kidneys and clubfeet.

I got a call that I'm at high risk. And then told me to go and get the amnio diagnostic test but I said no. 1 because there is a risk of miscarriage. And 2 was because, down syndrome or not. That was exactly how I felt. The results wouldn’t change our love or how we would proceed so we didn’t want to take the risk. Did they do the blood test to determine that you were high risk. Congratulations on your beautiful blessing

Quad Test came back positive and the ultra sound was normal. Although I didn’t freak out about the positive quad because I knew no matter what I’m keeping my baby girl I still want to be informed and prepared. So im current doing research. Sending you so much love! I hope no matter the outcome, the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly
Please can you tell me about your baby because i am also facing this
I think some people do not want to know before the baby is born because some people feel it's a more enjoyable pregnancy without extra worry.

Hi how is your baby doing how's everything is he all right ?
The Harmony test is 99% accurate for Singleton pregnancies but not as accurate for twin pregnancies. Just a little fact for Singleton pregnancies. Although being worried about Downs is understandable, we love to look at it as an ability not a disability. Kids and adults with Downs have the biggest hearts of anyone you will ever meet! It will be a lot different than a child without Downs and the health risks are scary. Sending a lot of love. ❤️ Your daughters are beautiful!

It breaks my heart to hear these stories 😢

How about you Kelly ? Please update if u don’t mind
Did you do an NIPT?
His heart was fine, he had a murmur for a month which closed but other than that we’ve had no heart issues :)
We did however get diagnosed with hypothyroidism but he just takes a small pill for that everyday and not a high risk medical emergency.
God Bless...both your babies will be healthy and fine...
Hope everything goes well with my baby🙏
Update: I hv got my baby's NIPT result.. By god grace everything is perfect. It came out negative 😍

Thank you for your honesty . This comment helped me so much.

I wish my baby had down my babygirl had Trisomy 18 we had to make a hard a decision 😢
So sorry but what exactly that means.... we to this
Sunita Sharma It’s a chromosome defect that is very rare and usually ends in death. 50% of babies with it die in the first week. Only 12% live past the first year. A lot of people choose to end the pregnancy because the baby won’t live very long at all.

My baby girl was born with Down syndrome and now that she is here I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a single thing about her. She is the most loving and loveable baby and I can’t imagine her any other way. I know those feeling are hard to grapple with right now and might even sound fake.
@@tappingwithliz You are absolutely right. It's the attitude. Whatever decision I'm gonna make I'll keep only baby future in mind.
