@@spridle I think someone’s a little jealous. There was a video about Luke Holland Playing drums and someone that worked for luke Holland wanted to say they did. Seems totally warranted if you ask me. Now someone coming along and saying this guys social skills suck seems to be a little bit of projection but that’s none of my business.
Such a complete drummer. He uses rests in the best Bruford tradition…his strokes have their own signature sound ala Greb…he treats subdivisions like pockets with fills tucked in to catch instrument notes, he conjoins those segments with more note phrasing or “rests”…bring SO much imaginative composition to everything I’ve heard him do…with chops that heavily emphasize fundamentals. It’s as though he often treats the drum as a melodic instrument with rhythm replicating the harmonic scales. I’ve got 55+ years of listening to everything from Stan Getz to Rush to Chopin to King Crimson and NO musician has left a bigger impression on me. I hope this young man has a most long and fulfilling career.
I was on drumline with Luke back in the day and I can tell you this guy was awesome back then and has practiced like crazy and just gotten better and better.
This guy doesn’t full float any of his parts. He truly has 100% stick control. Most drummers that have huge kits always make me wonder if they really needed a kit with that many toms and accessories. This is one of the first extreme drummers I’ve seen in a while That makes me wonder the exact opposite. He really should play a greater than four piece set and not just because of his chops But because he really has some great ideas that should be expressed with greater voicing on the drums. I am very impressed with this guy. Thank you
@@AndrewRooneyDrums yeah you should check out upside down by Jason Richardson and Luke Holland featuring Tim Henson I’m a guitarist, so I focus more on the guitar, (rather than inferior instruments.. like the drum), but the drum is still pretty sick in that One though
I also have a habit of playing with my eyes closed lol Helps me focus my ears better on what’s going on and not worry about processing any visual information that may be distracting
Most drummers have kept their set setup the same way for years and play so much that it's just second hand nature to know where they are. Its kinda like video gamers keeping the same sensitivity for a long time lol
I was on one of his live streams on Instagram and I told him I wish I could play like you dude and he said.. “if I can play it so can you “ and it was this song I mentioned.. so inspirational I actually broke out my old kit and been fixing it back up so I can practice more after 20 years of not playing…
@@AndrewRooneyDrums IMO, the best example of everything involved in this project is the song Mirrors, which Luke has a play through for. You can just imagine how tight and on the click they both have to be to play along with all of the programmed stuff. Plus, you get to see Luke play his big kit in the video.
I got to see Luke play this at a clinic in australia last November. Took me ages to find my jaw off the ground. I actually own the bullet stack he used on that tour as well!

Never was a fan of Lukes. Hes kinda the stereotype of todays technical obsessed generation. There isnt one song he’s done thats memorable. I can see why kids get impressed by it, but its just so much that its almost predictable and “typical” of todays musicians and musical styles. The playing gets boring because nothing musically memorable is happening because the music suffers instead of being the focus. Its just shredding.
Post a video playing anything he's ever played.. he's a monster and extremely talented and you're just a hater because you'd rather sit behind a keyboard and talk shit rather than try to become a fraction as good as he is.

Matt Greiner too!
