Sorry but this is not the FAM test. Air marshals used a QIT-97 target. 5 points for INNER (4 inch) bottle. 2 points for outer silhouette which seems to be confused with "bottle" in this video. I can see 3 rounds outside of inner bottle zone of a QIT-97 in first 4 stages for shooter 2. Shooter 1 did not pass for a number of reasons -- illustrating how hard the test is. There is a reason this is(was) considered the toughest qual. Both shooters are great shots and would pass any other LE qual. The test is NOT in use anymore -- stopped using it after 9/11 b/c not enough recruits could pass it when the program was expanded. Shooting Illustrated did a piece on the Federal Air Marshal Qualification Test a few years ago if anyone wants to look it up to see how the actual drill was shot with a photo of a QIT-97. Defenders USA I would sincerely love to see a video of the actual test on a QIT-97 with proper scoring (and low ready) -- very hard to find anyone who has posted one. There were not many air marshals before 9/11 and there is a lot of confusion out there about the qual.
I have also heard the same as you’re saying. Where is your source for this? Because I have not found anything in writing regarding the exact target and the exact scoring? Thank you.
Thanks for a great video! I did the FBI Qual. and first time failed the reload. Then I got a 92 the next time. Very similar test, but FBI went out to 25 yards.
A couple of my shooting buddies and I shot this a couple of times a few months ago. Sadly each of us failed at least one of the stages on each round. It really is an incredibly difficult test, but it is a lot of fun to shoot. It remains the only law enforcement qual I have not passed, and I've shot a bunch of them over the last year or so.
Keep working at it!! It’s a great test and if you run it again and are willing to do it on video, whether a pass or not, please send it to us and we’ll put it up on the channel. It’ll motivate you and a bunch more people too!
No it is no longer a pass or fail test. The TSA dropped the original TPC test because to many were failing it. The current Air Marshals are just normal plain clothes law enforcement officers. The only bad asses were the original Air Marshals prior to 9/11 and a few classes who were hired right after the original push in 2001-2002.
To be clear....if at any stage the shooter fails the time...the qualification is over and shooter fails. So first shooter failed on the first stage. Proceeding through the rest of qualification does not occur.
I'm not your "homie", but feel free to provide the example you're butthurt about so I and we can see if maybe you are right or if maybe you just kneejerked into unkind negativity out of habit.
Fail! The original Air Marshal TPC was fired using the issued FAM firearm at the time of the agencies mass hiring on 2001-2002. The weapon at the time was the Sig Sauer 229 chambered in .357 Sig. Since these two did not use the Sig Sauer 229 chambered in .357, well they failed. Also these two used optics and Air Marshals use the stock ‘iron sights’. These 2 also did not use the correct target so they fail. Air Marshals also had to wear the holster on the side of the belt and these two had the weapon in a ‘appendix’ holster. So let’s recap: They both failed. If you want to try and pass the original FAM TPC qualification course you must use the Sig 229 cambered in .357 Sig. Also you must use the FBI / QTI target (looks like an old soda bottle) and wear a concealed holster on the side of your belt. Oh, the original FAM TPC must be shot cold on the day you test so you do not get to warm up the day of. (Yes, I passed the original FAM TPC)
@@defenders-usaI was hired as an Air Marshal right after 9/11, passed the TPC and was with them for 10 years. So yes, I did pass the original Air Marshal test and had to use the Sig 229 chambered in 357 Sig.
You seem to be one of those guys who has enough insecurities that you feel the need to go on someone else's channel and bash on them...so I checked out your channel out of curiosity. Hey, at least you're out shooting...and believe me, I know there is so much I and we could do better, so we're constantly trying to do just that. You are always welcome to go find other channels to be critical of or be unkind to....unless you are the typical basement dwelling keyboard warrior whose mission in life is to dump on others who are out doing and trying, then by all mean, just keep being you.
Low ready as they define it ( as far as I can tell) just means you’d see their fingertips if naturally standing or hip line, both of which is possible with our “low ready”.
I’m a FAM, no red dot on the firearm, iron sites only.
7 yard line is not the only position we shot from. Wrong targets as well!
First shooter is not at low ready. LR is at 45 degrees
Didn’t realize that and didn’t see it written out anywhere. Thank you for helping with clarifications.

Good shooting Adam. Remember LR is at 45 degrees.
That was my first thought, LR is not a finger below the fire line 😂
A very interesting test, I will try it out
In what world is that low ready?
Gamer world
Nice 👍🏾
Is this the current Qual?
From what I understand.

It is!!

Thank you for the clarification!! Sure appreciate it!
Sounds like a fun, but stressful way to find out where you are.
Nah, this is easy for a shooter like you!!

You need to learn what "low ready" means. Looked like a fail to me. This isn't that hard guys.
That ain’t “Low ready” homie.

Well…you’ve emphatically pointed out that there’s a lot of fail(!) going on here.
We bow to your stated experience and expertise.
