I’m upgrading to the 12 pro from a 8. I personally like to upgrade every 3-5 years so that way the upgrade feels substantial regardless of how big the changes were from the year before.
I’m doing the same. 8 Plus to a 12Pro Max soon.

i want to upgrade from my 8+ to the 12 pro max but it’s a lot of money and idk if it’s even worth it
@@444fawnmost carriers have a trade-in credit plan. I have att and I traded in my 8 and got $800 in credit so the 12 pro itself before taxes was only around $200. The only draw back is that I’m contracted to stay with att for 2.5 years and won’t be able to change service provider.
I figured it was a decent deal because I only upgrade my phone after quite a bit of time has passed.

I would also add, having the 11 pro and before that the XSmax the weight of the device can be bothersome and if anything I would be considering to trade the 11pro for the 12 mini. The “upgrades/differences between the pro line is not enough for me to care. Weight and everyday comfort is where it’s at. For me of course.

I picked up a 12 pro, and I was using an 11 pro Max previously. The 6.5in size was a bit too big for my tastes, and this 12 pro size, is absolutely my favorite. Well done apple.
Battery life comparison?
It can’t compete, had a few days with it, realistically I prefer the battery on the pro max but the phone is easier to hold and it’s a better size.
What Jonathan is doing with his content is incredible. I like how includes consumers. I like how he acts as an opinion's mediator, the musical features as well. It's not all about himself. Good job John!

Many other reviewers don't talk about this much about the phone contributing to changing the video streaming, social media and video production industries with wider adoption of AR and more HDR support :)
Awesome production quality too and straight to the point!! By the way I just upgraded to the 12 Pro from my X and I feel loads of difference in speed, bigger display and most importantly the camera performance is stunning.

I am the exact person that you mentioned going from an iPhone 7 to now my iPhone 12 pro it’s absolutely amazing. All of what you said and even the special guest you have matched me 100%. Yeah I like the new design because of it’s throwback nature and I don’t want to get the max because it’s too too big. So all of your points made so much sense and was my exact reason for this purchase. Too many tech TH-camrs compare the newest phone with the previous version when you are right nobody’s buying phones every single year and they need to remember that. Best review hands-down

Reasons to upgrade to the 12 pro series from the 11 pro series:
*1)* Better modem = stronger signal and faster speeds.
*2)* More RAM = more apps kept in memory for longer. i.e., fewer app refreshes.
*3)* New form factor - feels better in hand.
*4)* Larger screen size(s).
*5)* Better cameras.

Love that you switched back to 16:9, much better to view on iPads and Macs and it’s just a more comfortable aspect ratio in general.

I’ve used a XS Max for the last 2 years and Just like the individual in the beginning I’ve waited. The design got me, I loved the 4 and 5.
I would suggest you to wait another year.

No lie the XS max is the best phone I have ever had and I love it like love it so much I would have waited to upgrade until there was 120z but I recently cracked the screen so I told my self I might had well try the 12 if I don’t like it I can deal with it for one year or grab the note 21 lol

I actually did upgrade to this from my 11 pro max. I thought the size of my old phone was too big and I love the Pacific Blue.
How's the battery life? I'm making the exact switch.
Did the exact same thing. No regrets. I dig the 6.1” screen size. Yes you loose battery but can’t have everything
Battery life is not a problem, i upgraded from XS and battery life is significantly better. Enough for 1.5 days with medium use.

I’m no longer paying attention to “tech reviewers” about this phone. They all have the same opinions, and can’t seem to comprehend that there are people who want the 12 Pro features (especially the telephoto lens) without the bulk and weight of the Max. I upgraded from the 11Pro because the screen was too small. However, I didn’t choose the Pro Max because I, like many, find it burdensome to haul around 6.5” (or larger) slabs of glass in my pocket (as I did with the Xs Max).

@@yun-hn5cx True, but personal tech IS personal! As far as it being only to me, I would point to Ming Chi Kuo’s recent report that iPhone 12 Pro is selling more units than even Apple expected (roughly even numbers with the 12). Clearly, a lot of people have needs similar to mine.
I’m with you on this. I feel like reviewers are no longer impartial when it comes to phone reviews and it seems like they have to actively hate apple or really love apple in order to have a place in the tech world. But in regards to the iPhone 12 Pro is that it’s the perfect size with the same premium specs as the max with a supposedly worse camera. Now, I’m not nit picky when it comes to the camera, but raw performance and speed is what I care about at the end of the day in a smartphone, and this phone is it for me for now.

Thank you John. It’s refreshing to see a review that actually showcase the good (and how they are actually good) about this phone. Some reviews are always comparing to the Max (which is bulkier) and 12 (which price isn’t that far from the addons) completing disregarding the pros of the lidar, hdr, procam, etc.

Ps. I notice a big difference in camera quality just from the iPhone 12 vs the iPhone XS AND iPhone 11. If you have either of these phones it’s a major upgrade. People still giving me crap for saying these cameras will replace people seeking a DSLR because it’s soon becoming unnecessary for most.

I’m having a hard time deciding between 12 and 12 pro because I feel like they’re at least 90% similar in specs
If photography isn’t your main thing, go for the 12. The Pro kills it with the lidar, telephoto and best of all: AppleProRAW.
go for pro iphone 12 costs you 850 dollars 128 gb spend 150 more and get pro
12 Pro is the best value this year, unless you absolutely not into photo's or videos, also it looks premium compared with the 12 and it has more RAM, LIDAR is also much bigger deal the most reviewers give it credit for...The only way I would choose a 12 over Pro is if I couldn't stretch my budget by $200 and then I'd buy the Mini instead....
Go for the normal 12, no point spending 200 on an extra camera where you wont even notice a difference

LIDAR gives much better night photography, better materials, which means it simply looks better, 2gb of extra RAM which means you don't need to reopen apps and ensures better video processing, 4k video at 60FPS, PRO RAW photo editing and double the memory at 128gb and brighter screen in sun light....that's what you get extra for only $200 😁

NGL, this is the best iPhone 12 Pro review I’ve seen. Hands down. It looks like you took a lot of time to make it and get input from specialists in the various aspects of the review that required it. I also enjoyed watching the HDR content to gain some perspective on the subject. Its very cool stuff and it means a lot that you went out of your way to make this incredibly comprehensive.

The quick answer; No. the XR can still do 85% of what that phone can do, it’s still a very good functioning device, as you may well know. Now, if you’re a hardcore user, NEED a better camera and want “the latest and greatest”, then upgrade. Otherwise, you can calmly let this one go and wait another year.

I had an Xr and got the 12, reason being i needed more storage and was gonna get the 11 pro as i thought it was cheaper, well it wasn’t, the 12 was £50 more so i shot bite the bullet and got 128gb 12 in blue

From this vid, I learned a ton about the camera/video technology, downloaded the Zedge app and changed my wallpaper to Roman De Giuli’s beautiful artwork, and subscribed. I haven’t seen a reviewer being in experts from various areas to demonstrate the technology. Wow.
I don't typically leave comments, but having the "conclusion" of the review at the beginning and then explaining it throughout is a welcome change. Hope more reviewers start doing that.
