I have a XS Max, and your review helped me decide to wait on upgrading at least until next year. The only thing I really wanted from the 12 Pro lineup was the improved camera system, but if there could likely be high refresh displays next year, then I’d much rather wait and reap the benefits of both!

Just wanted to clarify. The iPhone 12 pro doesn’t use the Lidar in portrait mode. Sebasitian de ( creator of the halide camera app) mentioned this in his recent podcast interview.
They played the same iPhone 5 game. iPhone 5 was supposed to have fingerprint sensor but they delayed it to 5s just for the sake of it.

I have a 12 to review, only been in the house and cleaned with a microfibre. Got a small scratch on it. My XS, 2 years of being in pockets. Less marks. Shocked
Pocketnow also has a scratch on his iphone... i havent wacthed that many reviews but i see a sad pattern

I feel like a lot of reviewers don’t point out the 799 to 999 price difference is including less storage and a carrier discount on the 11. If you bought it from apple unlocked with 128gb the price of the 11 is 879. So, it’s not a $200 difference, it’s a $120 difference. I’m glad Dave talked about that.

DAVE 2D is the first channel to talk on the iPhone 12s' battery and to show how small the battery capacity is. All the other channels never even talked about the battery power which personally is a major factor.

I went for 12 pro over 12 because I don’t like how much bigger the 12 pro max is and I wanted the telephoto lens
I also believe the extra ram and screen brightness is good future proofing for me since I have my phones for at least 3 years

The Magsafe charger, I just have one question. The benefit of wireless charging is you can charge the phone by simply placing it on the charging pad. The magsafe charger, does it require an action to "unplug" the charger from the phone? Because if it does, it defects the purpose of wireless charging. And it suddenly make a lot of sense that Apple opt to exclude the charging brick from the box.
His reviews are very personal and they cut the crap, he mentions what other reviewers miss and hence are very dear to me. Thanks Dave for making videos!

Geek bench scores are nuts. The added RAM, in conjunction with the A14, have a meaningful impact on multitasking as well. Like, crazy performance improvements over iPhone 11.

@4:27 teeny-tiny sensor Apple is using for its ultra-wide struggles collecting light, it struggles delivering 4k video, it looks like the main disappointment (for the lack of improvement) in 12 series for a video entusiast.
The Pixel 5's cam is still very dope. Even with the old sensor

If they had high refresh rates this year, I would have bought it. Waiting for next year. Disappointed that the blue colors will probably be replaced by something else. My favorite iPhone colors by far.

I don't understand the hype around high refresh. Yeah, it would be nice to have, but doesn't it directly reduce battery life? And battery life is way more important to me than a high refresh rate.
I completely agree with your conclusion, and that's precisely why I went for the 12... Because I know I'll be too weak to not get the 13 pro next year!

I think 120hz didn’t happen because of battery life. And it will likely not happen next year either unless perhaps next iphones will have micro led.
