Agree-he always enhances a tune with his choice of notes. Such a great harmonic player. He may not shred like Sheehan, George, and Larue, but he’s my favorite with his tone and musicality. Same can be said of Roine-his solos are freakin dope. Choice of notes!
I have previously posited the existence of The Morse Factor, which makes everything that it touches approximately 20 per cent longer and 3 per cent more bombastic than it needs to be. However it does feel rather good when it is applied.
I believe there is an opportunity for Star Trek to take advantage of this in defeating an out of control AI opponent. Kirk - "computer, play overture by Neal Morse." Computer - "uhhhhhh"

Another great band i just discovered. I like this suff. You can sit back, close your eyes, and drift away from all the tensions in the world. love the videos.
Roine's guitar solo in the end is something unbelievable! In my opinion, he is the best pearl in the group. Also, this project is the most successful for Mike Portnoy. Even if to compare with Dream Theater. IMHO.😊
Mike has such an interesting voice and Ronie Stolt does too. Both so individual to my ears for prog and stuff, but so good. Ronie Stolt has so much feel and melodic goodness in his guitar playing, the mix I can hear the bass in actually. I hope to hear Ronie sing too again on the next album. Great job dudes.
Can't express how much I love this song. I've been listening to it non-stop through the whole weekend. Cant' wait to listen to it in concert whenever is possible!
Happy "420" 54th birthday Michael Stephen Portnoy 04/20/67. His dad was a radio DJ and that gave him access to huge amounts of LP's. He developed a preference for Rush, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Iron Maiden, and the Beatles. Self taught on drums. Son Max plays drums too.
This song sounds like The Whirlwind and Kaleidoscope had a child that kicked even more ass than the previous albums. Can't wait to hear both versions in their entirety, and the eventual live show once this goddamned pandemic is over.
I absolutely love tA. Since day 1 that I heard them. The only thins is, whenever I see Pete all I can think of is Bilbo Baggins! Love his playing and writing, just some stupid thing in my head. Can't wait for the release. It's certain to be fantastic.
Thanks all you guys for give us hope and new dreams during these trouble times Ten years after my favorite progressive Album...... The Whirlwind is back.
The Absolute Universe is a weird way to release music, and it's so weird that even this music video is a unique song distinct from the single version and either album version. The "Overture" portion of this song is itself modified and unique. The bass guitar-driven section at 1:47 is different from both the Forevermore and Breath of Life versions of "Overture." Immediately after that section, a part present in both album versions of "Overture" was removed for this music video version. It's a section that when I heard it immediately made me think, "I've heard this before... I know this riff!" After a minute I remembered what it was: that riff is almost identical to the main riff in Marty Friedman's "Fuel Injection Stingray" from his 2003 album, _Music for Speeding._ But, Transatlantic completely cut that out of this version of "Overture," so you'll have to find the album versions to hear it; it's in both of those. From there, this version of "Overture" proceeds the same as the Breath of Life version into Reaching for the Sky. It'll be a task to understand all the differences in the parts of these albums that overlap, but I'm going to inflate my dirigible and strap in for an epic journey across the Universe of this music! (Alright, that was cringe-worthy.)
wow, it is the first time I see this video and it is a surprise for me to see that this would be a fourth version, listen to Ultimate, Forevermore, Breath of Life and now this, wow these guys surprise me, greetings from El Salvador
Personally, I'm glad they didn't try anything new. I absolutely love the TA sound and after all those years of wait, I was hoping to be thrown back into the good ol classic vibe, the same old stuff.... but still pure gold stuff you know? Transatlantic is one of those bands to me, that's good at doing one particular kinda thing stylistically and that's the magic! This is where it's at.
Absolutely! And it's not like their classic sound is stale. Look at the previous albums, they all have that same signature TA sound and style, instantly recognizable, but each album is also super unique and infinitely replayable. Their stuff doesn't get old.
people seem to fall from the sky everytime new symphonic/retro prog stuff comes out. "I can't believe it, this sounds the same!!!! shame on you, Morse!!!", like, what the actual fuck?! it's been 25 years that these musicians are playing safe (but still coming out with really good and fresh music), and yet people complain that much? they fucking deserve Steven Wilson with his '80 synth stuff then, if they want something brand new. prog fans are certainly ridiculous...
Humanizzimo is night and flowerkings fan? I am a fan of Wilson.but those guys can create music based on melody and are not obsess by sounds or production. But listen to significant other (wilson)..it s really great..
Ordered Ultimate version even though I don't even have a record player, just for the beautiful artwork! Also got individual UU Breath of Life and Forevermore, just because! EPIC!!!!! WELCOME BACK, TRANSATLANTIC!
Sometimes it's nice if things DON'T change. And this one takes off where the last one ended in 2014. Could be a lost SMPT-E bonus-track but still fits 2020 / 2021. A piece of (my) youth regained!
Na, das ist doch wieder mal großartig, ganz hohe Schule, was will man mehr... Was in diesen 9,5 min gezaubert wird, sucht seinesgleichen - ich freu mich auf das Album!

Pete Trewavas is one of the best bass players ever
Pete is amazing as usual!!!
And adds nice color to the vocal department!
Totally agree. It's a shame that he doesn't get to let loose in Marillion like in the early days. This, right here, sounds like he's in his element.
He and Junior Goovador
Agree-he always enhances a tune with his choice of notes. Such a great harmonic player. He may not shred like Sheehan, George, and Larue, but he’s my favorite with his tone and musicality. Same can be said of Roine-his solos are freakin dope. Choice of notes!
A Neal Morse album without an overture is like thanksgiving without pumpkin pie.
and without turkey
I have previously posited the existence of The Morse Factor, which makes everything that it touches approximately 20 per cent longer and 3 per cent more bombastic than it needs to be. However it does feel rather good when it is applied.

People complain when their favorite artist changes their style. People complain when their favorite artist maintains their style. People are boring.
People always complain.
But one of those is the correct one ;)

Big fan since the SMPT:e era which was my introduction to prog rock. All of the Above is still my single favorite song of all times. Cheers!
SMPT:e was my introduction to Mr. Neal Morse! Agree AOTA is Transatlantic's greatest song!
Let's get this pandemic over so we can get Transatlantic back on tour as soon as possible.
How much I really love the sound and pattern drumming of M. Mike Portnoy !!!
