I have a 2017 MT-10 that I have removed the CAT and had the ECU re-mapped. My bike runs and rides great, but like yours the bangs I get on deceleration are way too loud, almost like a gunshot/ backfire. Seeing how you have fixed the issue, I will go ahead and block the AIS on mine. Thanks for putting the video up.
You really seem to like this bike. You're so enthusiastic about it every time you mount it and ride off. I think between this and the Triumph, you should be set for a while. Go sell the ZX14.
I agree, but every time I ride the 14, I am just blown away by the power and comfort of it... And there aren't a lot of bikes like that on the market..
Backfiring inside the pipes is not beneficial. My brothers and I (probably my idea) liked to rev the engine on my dad's 1958 Cadillac, turn the ignition switch off and wait until it revved down to about 1,000 rpm then turn the switch back on...KaBoom! After a half dozen or so times the mufflers (V-8) looked like someone had taken a can-opener to them. Obviously more extreme but it adds up, never a good thing and also annoying; your Yammie sounds much better with the AIS tube blocked.
Yeah, and I read something about the explosions in the exhaust maybe sending small shock waves and pressure back to the exhaust valves, and how that might not be good over time... A little snap, crackle and pop is ok, but it was doing it a LOT before the marble...
Doesn't the SP model come with one? Look under the headlight, that's where mine is located. If not, then YES. I believe in putting one on any sporty bike.
doesn't really need it at least for me, unless you wheelie at high speed and slam the front down. I put 14k miles on my 22' 09sp with no problem. The bars wiggle because the fronts light under load. But ive never had any issues. The SP suspension is solid.
@@Xanth1um Yeah, the SP is a big step up in suspension... I pulled off my OEM non adjustable unit this evening and tossed on an adjustable unit, will be interesting to see how it works...
@@SquireSCA I wish i couldve found a 23' MT10SP but nobody around me had one when or was expecting one. So I got the MT09SP I love the 3 cyl so it wasnt that much of a bummer for me. I love my MT09
You know what I love about this bike & Yamaha in general is the maintenance intervals. Like damn.
Oh yeah, that is true. what's the interval on this bike? Like 24k miles or something crazy?

Yeah, a simple marble does the trick. Just make sure you block the right hose!
I was wondering if there was a way I could just block off a hose instead of taking off the tank and going to all that trouble.
The answer is yes, I have been doing it this way with the marble, for 20 years...

Your mic is making it hard to really hear the bike. I know it sounds great because I can hear it though the db is cut way down. MT-10 love!
Yeah, the setup that works great for vlogging, cuts out the bike sounds... and vice versa...
Hi dave why would you want to stop the pops and bangs on decel ??? I dont get it .... am i missing somethingis it purely a noise thing ?
A little bit of popping and banging is fine, but a lot isn't good for the exhaust or motor...

Hey Dave, would you recommend me getting a steering dampner for my 23 MT-09SP??

@@SquireSCA unfortunately no, but they should! In your video you talked about it, so that’s why I asked. Thanks for the advise👍
