Very similar. I totally changed from the iPhone to the Huawei P30 Pro, buds and watch, which were excellent a few years back.. Loved it until the google block.. I'm currently on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, considering a move to the Samsung U24 as I really enjoyed the freedom of Android.
I've got the iPhone 13 and I feel the same. I've got a pixel 6a spare phone which I might switch to. I'm gonna get a better android but money is a problem. Which android do u think I should buy with about 300 pound.
You actually tackled the big issues that stop me switching some time ago, that is you moved away form Apple only apps to those universal apps. I have tried this many times, but always go back to iPhone for the quality of apps. I really don't care too much about the hardware, it’s the software (ie apps) that I find difficult when switching. If I could find an android set up that offers the same level of integration between apps that I enjoy on Apple (iOS/Mac) I’d happily switch tomorrow. However, having tried it many times, I find myself always having to compromise, and Android just doesn’t offer enough to overcome that. It would be interesting to hear something about this side of it as you continue your android journey (particularly that other issue that occurs with Samsung phones, the duplication of apps with those that google brings. Look forward to sharing your journey - enjoy!
I like android but the duplication in apps from Samsung really get on my nerves. Also, when something goes wrong, it’s always hard to pinpoint whether it’s googles or Samsungs fault ie. Google play services were draining my galaxy watch 5 battery in a few hours, apparently it was a known issue but I only managed to fix it 2 resets later, I also had to make sure I closed all apps running on the background whenever I used googles assistant in the watch which was several times a day. Soooo annoying! I’m now with apple but if I switch to android again, I’m gonna go with the pixel.
There's nothing wrong with preferences. What I hate is the same old thing Apple user's keep saying that is not even true. The ecosystem thing if anything Android has surpassed Apple. Samsung/Android are compatible with Microsoft, Google, and other Androids not even mentioning all the things Samsung makes. Washer, stove, security systems, vacuum, TV's, so many things. Apple has in comparison a very small closed off ecosystem.
Great vid. Mark - good to see you've the cahunas to give making the move a serious try. I made the move 6 months ago and am delighted I did. Yes the watch is the strongest tie-in to the iPhone; I went with the titanium Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and tbh it's easily been 'good enough'. My wife still has her 14 ProMax and the biggest differences I notice are a) insane battery life on all SS products b) screen brightness outdoors c) DEX and d) copy-and-paste clipboard inc. history...and that's before being able to create a Filter Library for tweaking photo's to suite your personal preferences (at the time of taking the shot).
I made the switch a few years ago and I'm so happy I did. I still use a Mac for work (What they issued) but personally Im all in on android now and I love it.
As someone almost in the same boat as you and really wanting to give the s24 ultra a try, what smartwatch/wearable do you think is the best option? Would really like to find a “best” option that isn’t locked into any platform which is where I have looked at the garmin epix pro(gen 2) or epix(gen 2). Haven’t heard great things about galaxy watches or pixel watches and I know I would lose some smartwatch functionality with garmin but the massive battery life gain sounds great.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I live in the USA, and I am very interested in following the Antitrust charges that were recently filed against Apple here. They are basically being challenged regarding their building walls around their devices. I have an Apple Watch but I would love to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S 24 Ultra phone. Unfortunately the two devices have been engineered to be incompatible. It’s unfortunate that it will probably take government action to provide consumers with access to the variety of choices available.
Looking forward to the ongoing comparisons. Wandering if swapping to Android whether the plus or standard S24 would suffice if one does not want the S pen. Glad you plan to cover DEX, is it really useful or just a gimmick?
A very good friend said when I mentioned switching the S24 Ultra, "Never looked at Samsung products seriously because their software has always been a nightmare from spyware to broken customized android to android itself. And lack of consistency with the rest of my ecosystem isn't nice...just switching between Apple Watch (my addition), iPad, and iPhone is lovely and they can't match that experience." I remember when Unix billed itself as, "an open operating system." So any ecosystem really means keeping you and your money within the fold. I had the first iPod, the first iPhone, and so on. I am tired of Apple's complacency, poor software quality, and so on. I remember my first iMac in 2003 (I did own an Apple //e previously) using migration assistant to move from my WinDoze laptop. My jaw dropped. Today, not so much. Mark, thanks for keeping it real for us normal people. BTW I was just looking at my Samsung chicklet blackberry keyboard mobile...I really did like at the time!
To be honest there’s very little difference. I used Apple computers since 2007 then switched to Windows in 2017 as Apple at the time just weren’t innovating. Then with Apple Silicon and the Mac Studio moved back. I’d always preferred macOS. It was a month in that I went full Apple and I’m enjoying the switch. I was using a One Plus, there’s very little difference I find in the phones themselves it’s just if you use a Mac having iCloud, Airdrop and shared clipboard is very handy. Still think icon placement is terrible in iOS and how you can’t quit all apps in one go. I also don’t like how the iPhone doesn’t always detect taps. If I didn’t use a Mac though I’d use an android phone.
I switched from android to 15 pro max and it was also fun in the beginnig, understanding new stuff and all that. I never had phone that takes videos and photos with such quality and I never had earphones that sound this amazing, then I do not like that I can't costumize some stuff but as far as comfort goes I think you are not gonna use 90% of android stuff anyways in everyday life so idk.
Coming from an android user since 2010 and recently switching to iPhone. I am confident you will go back to iPhone. I can see how refined the Apple items are how much better quality.
I have iPads, iPhones, and MacBooks but my sim is in a S23 Ultra. I’ve used apple products since the OG ipod shuffle and iPhone 4. It’s nice to change things up. I like having fun with tech devices and apple feels like the same ole thing. Consistency is good but it can lead to boredom.
Window XP. Ahh yes, good memories, I still remember when I first saw my friend’s computer screen while visiting him when xp first came out. I was loving the colour and the design. That was lovely.
I switch back and forth with regularity. It isn't hard. Use Google services whenever you can, along with a third party password manager, and you're good to go. I have an iMac as my main computer, but currently use an s24 ultra, a tab s9, and a galaxy watch 6 classic, and everything works. If I feel like using the iPhone for a time, I pop the SIM back in and put on my apple watch. It's not a big deal, and it doesn't need to be a permanent commitment.
Good to mix it up occasionally, this year I sold my apple gear MacBook Air, Apple Watch, iPhone promax 13 and iPad Pro 2020. Ended up with a gaming pc desktop (not for games) and a pixel 8. Tried also the surface pro as a tablet but that didn’t work out. Sold the surface pro and got iPad Air for note taking and all things tablet. The PC works just fine for coding and data analysis and it’s nice to have full version of excel back, windows 11 isn’t great though. Pixel 8 very good, may go back one day but apple needs to go back to being more affordable.
Hi Mark,if you can tell me how i can get all my music playlists in the Music App on my macbook on an android phone wirhout destroying all the playlist,i would try the samsung as well.i have not found a proper way to get the playlists on an android phone!!
Android has the Apple Music if you use that download the app everything will appear across your device. I swap my iPhone and android phones monthly they both have the Apple Music app and play without issue.
@@ToniaMcCaskill hi there,i do not have Apple Music. All the songs in my playlist are bought as mp3‘s. That is the main problem if i wanted to switch to an android device.i cannot copy the playlist to an android phone
I am an Apple iPhone user of the first hour, but ditched the iPhone after a few years simply because I wanted to know what the other garden over the fence looks like. I loved Android very much, but after a few years I switched back to the iPhone. Today nearly my whole family has an iPhone. I would enjoy playing in neighbors garden again, simply because I am interested in tech and I would like to know both world in order to decide which one is for me. But because of my family and the little time I have available the time has not come for me - yet. But I am very curious to see you playing in neighbor‘s garden and what it will be like. Thank you for your efforts!
As an ex-iPhone user, I can confirm the grass is greener on the other side. Other than more complex sub-menus due to all the party tricks the Samsung is able to do, I just find it easier to use and configure, even when the customisation options are sometimes buried in the most unexpected places, like Good Lock. The point is, the iPhone can't do everything you always want while the Samsung can. Let's see how you find the experience though. Good luck!
Good luck and be interesting to see how you get on. It looks an amazing phone but I couldn't leave the Apple world now without something really special. Really want to see how you get on using another ecosystem whilst still using an iPad and MacBook
I got the iPhone 15 plus,I was going to get the top model but every time I went into the Apple store they where very warm to the touch which doesn't bode well-solder eventually crystalises when its repeatedly changing temperature.I also got the S24 Ultra,so I now have both systems with watches, tablets, pens'n'headphones.I find myself mostly sticking with S24 and ipad pro with Samsung watch pro 4. The iphone looks and feels great-but it is boring to use!Nothing exciting about it at all, whereas I'm always finding new things to do with S24!Its great! The Samsung ultra tablet is to awkward to use without sitting at the table to use it.The ipad pro works anywhere and as for the Apple watch, well my pro 4 runs rings around it,much easier to navigate for one.
I tried the Samsung flip phone (not the latest version) a year or two ago now and was not thrilled. I have switched the phone number of that phone over to my iPhone 14 Max as a second business number. The Samsung is somewhere in a bag or drawer. Of course, the smart phone and related devices have become must haves in the modern lifestyle, especially when it comes to business. None of any of this is perfect, however, including the cell service in my area. The iPhone is far from perfect, yet switching just to try something new at this point would just be too much, as so much of what I do is tied to Apple Notes and the Apple system. I do use Gmail and my calendar and contacts are synced using with the Google Calendar, so maybe someday….
The thing that would make it more difficult to switch is my Apple Watch. I still rock the Apple Watch 4 (cellular, with no service on it) and LOVE my Apple Watch! I change the colors, I change the faces of it depending on my mood of the day or whatever I happen to be wearing.
I fully believe samsung makes a better phone, but yeah. Their watches are lacking quite a bit compared to Apple. Apple also is catching back up on the phone front as well. Ios18 should go a long way.
I laughed so much at the Windows XP part!! So good! I Don't feel the software and apps in android are mature and complete, they all feel like unfinished, like beta software. I do like the hardware though. And that late update cycle just drives me nuts. I would only go for a Pixel so I can avoid the late updates. well, anyways, i truly hope it does work out. Good luck on the switch.
Personally, I tried it with S8 (after using a Windows Phone... - don't ask) and to be frank the biggest issue was compatibility with wife's ecosystem (iPhone) and event just transferring photos/videos was such a pain... with eldest child having an iPhone the family link makes a lot of sense. I hope you go well but I am pretty much in the iPhone / Apple world now... I just deal with it!
I just switched to iPhone 15PM from a lifetime using a Galaxy 😂 The S24U is really an amazing phone but I wanted the best video camera and just something different. I must say the 15PM is extremely smooth.
I’m in the same boat. I got the S24 Ultra first, but traded it in for a 15 Pro Max after a couple of days. The S24 Ultra is a great phone overall, but the reason for the switch was mainly due to being able to shoot in Apple Log on the iPhone. I wanted to dip my toes into semi-pro/pro videography and having the Blackmagic Camera app available only for iOS, it was a no brainer.
I am really tempted to do the same as you. I am also tempted by the Tab S9 Ultra that looks stunning for content and has Dex direct with a keyboard. I think Apple has become stale with the iPhone 15 PM not exciting me at all, so I kept my 13 PM. But, the rest of my family are all ardent iPhone and iPad users, with iMessage and FaceTime being used all the time by default for basic comms between us when we are out of the house working or doing our separate stuff. In this sense, it is not just my Apple ecosystem. Very interested in your journey.
Another great video, IPhone want sneaking up on you like the Samsung was in the last video 😂. I switched from iPhone to the nothing phone 2, but also watch and buds too.
I switched to the Pixel 8 pro when it came out got the watch and the earbuds lasted 5 months just too much hassle with my MacMini and other gear...also privacy was a nightmare never ever again.....
Switched from iphone 15 pro max to s24 ultra last January. After being with Apple since iphone 3gs. Now im in love with android ! The only thing that i really miss from Ios/iphone is Airdrop and more painfully Airplay
I used Android from the time the iPhone 4 until about 6 months after the 12 Pro Max came out with most of those being top Samsung models and getting a new one every year. I used the Samsung ecosystem and watched it develop. Some of my sons stayed with Samsung until last year... now everyone has switched. I took a hard look at this and there is no way I would go back. Yes ti's a very nice phone but long term there is no comparison between the two. Each year there will be a few things that are better on one than the other but the convince of my Apple products and knowing they will work is definitely worth it. Have fun!
Welcome « home »😊. Your video about 15 Pro Max really got me 👏🏿. I hope videos to come, will be genuine about what is daily using a Galaxy phone, specifically a S24 Ultra.
I literally just did that yesterday! Got my s24 ultra and Galaxy watch pro. Currently selling the iPad and Apple watch. I feel if I make it harder to go back to iOS I will keep using my Galaxy. I've tried the s23 ultra. Forl 3,4,5 but always go back to Apple. iOS is not as polished as it used to be. So I'm giving Android a worth shot right now. Honeymoon phase but I'm enjoying it so far
I used to absolutely love Apple but honestly they just feel so far behind Samsung now its unreal. Started to feel like every phone was the same. Ive used android for the last 2 years and couldn't be happier with my Fold 5. Great video!
Mark….i feel the same pull to switch to android every year. I get board with IOS too. I think it comes down to what makes IOS great is its simplicity and clean design. It’s also what makes it boring after a while. I wish there was more customization in iOS. Guess that’s supposedly around the corner with IOS 18. Thanks for the great videos !
Heyy great comparison bruh! I felt this was sooo straight away and honest comments because I see people always over speak about iphone only because it is an Apple product. To be brutally honest, the Samsung is practically the best, donno why people always talk about the ecosystem, we are paying for that particular device hardware... software and the overall experience not only for the ecosystem 😄.... And i loved you're too straight on that 💯... Love from India 💪🏻
About the ecosystem. You don't need to get the galaxy watch, there are dozens of credible alternatives such as the amazfit balance, the pixel or Xiaomi watch, garmin etc. I wouldn't get a galaxy watch because the battery life is pants, like any WearOS watch. I had an apple watch until I got the S24U, then got the Amazfit Balance, and the battery lasts 15 days! I love not having to charge it every 1.5 days. I left apple and haven't looked back. I love the customisation, the S-pen, the screen, the battery life (I go to bed with35-45% left, 6am to 11pm), I'd never go back to apple.
It looks like you ditched the Apple Watch Ultra as well. Can't say I blame ya. I'm having the same dilemma between the Epix Pro and the Ultra choosing which one should be my main watch. I do agree that the S24 is the better phone though. I have both of them as well. But I still use the iPhone 15 pro max as my regular phone.
I swapped to the Samsung s24 ultra 2 months ago, & just swapped back to the iPhone 15 pro max, just because I miss face unlock on bank apps etc the Samsung is a amazing phone, I just always end up going back iOS 😮
I had it in my hand in Barcelona. It's a huge, ungainly, boxy (impractical) looking/feeling phone. I have a tablet, laptop and TV if I need a big screen. The word 'mobile' must have been lost in translation. Try and log this thing with you on a night out, on holidays or just in summer with only a pair of shorts 😅
I was going to switch to a S24 Ultra from an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but decided to go for a Pixel 8 Pro because (a) cheaper, and (b) Google's phone screening features are superb. Android 14, for me at least, has everything I need and hasn't caused any problems with the transition. I think my three favourite Android phones at the moment are the Pixel 8 Pro, Sony Xperia 5 V, and the S24 Ultra. But regardless of whatever anybody chooses, Android phones have come a long way and definitely good enough to give Apple a run for their money. My only complaint about the Samsung ecosystem is that the Watch 6 can't be paired with a Pixel 8 Pro for 4G connectivity. Works fine in all other ways, but the 4G stuff is strictly limited to Samsung phones. I had to send back my Galaxy Watch 6 back as a result - and it's a shame, because it's a *fantastic* watch.
The one thing that keeps me with Apple is FaceTime. I work away from home a LOT and there’s nothing out there that comes close to it! Great video as always
Everywhere on YT there is tons of video having thumbnails of switching from iphone to s24 ultra. Is it legit switching or just Samsung's bright time or apples dooms day.
For power users, Android is generally the better phone. However, the vast majority of smartphone users in the world are not power users. For them, there is practically no difference between Samsung and iPhone. Both are very capable devices. I recently switched from OnePlus One to iPhone 15. The switch was basically trivial.
I think the biggest difference between the Apple and Samsung ecosystems is that the Samsung ecosystem is more open for products outside the brand. Even though the Apple ecosystem works very well, it is also more of a prison designed to keep you in.... for life and making it as hard as possible to switch.
First off - I have to say the audio you recorded on the S24 is not very good - sounds like you're in a box. I get it, it's easy to get bored with a smart phone. I switched to the Z Fold 4 for 6 months and got bored with that phone too. I also tried a Pixel Fold and S24 Utra however I always switch back to my iPhone. Once the honeymoon period wears off it will be interesting to see how much you miss the smoothness, convenience, and refinement of the iPhone vs the S24 Ultra.
How long will this last?

Do you think the s23u has a better battery than the s24u? Also how do you find the long range zoom in comparison as well?
the s24 series overall has better battery life than the s23 series
Oneplus watch 2 and the struggle is over. Im using it since a week now and damn! Havent looked back to my apple watch ultra
I'm just doing the same switch, and I'm very nervous, failed many times in the past
I got an S24 Ultra when it came out, but after a week I sent it back. I just prefer iOS (it’s not the first time I have tried Android either).
A week isn't enough to even make muscle memory
I had a pixel 7pro then a s23 ultra now back on the IPhone as of last week as I prefer iOS
@@wheelyflac I have tried Android for longer in the past, I thought it may have changed but I knew almost right away that I still don’t like it.
You are trapped inside Apple Ecosystem JAIL.
It is impossible to Break IJAIL.
RIP
The xp thing was hysterical, as soon as you turned I was there. Crazy. Fun
As someone who uses a Samsung S23, I know the camera's are the best but your video proves the stability of the footage as well as the clear audio.
Omg 🤦🤦🤦
Oh hello i sheep
I have iPads, iPhones, and MacBooks but my sim is in a S23 Ultra. I’ve used apple products since the OG ipod shuffle and iPhone 4. It’s nice to change things up. I like having fun with tech devices and apple feels like the same ole thing. Consistency is good but it can lead to boredom.
Window XP. Ahh yes, good memories, I still remember when I first saw my friend’s computer screen while visiting him when xp first came out. I was loving the colour and the design. That was lovely.
@markellisreviews will you be documenting your full journey? Would be interested to see a video transferring all your apps from iPhone to Samsung 👍🏻👌🏻
I’ve been thinking of doing this same thing. I’m curious how this will work as you’re in the Apple ecosystem. Looking forward to your next videos!
What about all the Banding issue and loss of quality of the camera you can find on forums. Is that gone or just rumors
Mark, if I remember well you did this before and went back to your iPhone. How long do you reckon it will be before you go back ? :)
Nope, not don't it for many years - as mentioned in the video!
Following you now, I have the 24ultra, so looking forward to how you go with it.
Happy Easter 🐰🐣
Ios18 should go a long way.
.. just use a Huawei watch..
Just switched to Z Flip 5 and Tab S9+ . It's just fantastic.
Did you edit/ color grade the video at all. That looks quite quite good and noise cancelling is great as usual.
Didn't touch it.
That 'Windows XP' moment made me spill my coffee!! 🤣 Brilliant!
6:20 The Reaction 😅
I just switched to iPhone 15PM from a lifetime using a Galaxy 😂
The S24U is really an amazing phone but I wanted the best video camera and just something different.
U can shoot raw video on samsung lol, and there are apps for it too @@AYAiYaiYaiYai
Always a good time from your videos😁
Wow your lawn really looks like nuclear lawn 😂 6:43
I switched to the Pixel 8 pro when it came out got the watch and the earbuds lasted 5 months just too much hassle with my MacMini
and other gear...also privacy was a nightmare never ever again.....
Thank you very much!
Windows XP wall paper that killed me nice one! LOL
Yes. We are friends. Thank you Mark.
I sold my iPhone 14 pro max, totally switched to s24 ultra for couple months, absolutely like it !
I’m shocked but intrigued enjoy the journey buddy
I switched from an iPhone to a S23 Ultra 14 months ago and apart from the green vs blue bubbles, the Ultra wins hands down.
Good video hope u like the change I switched couple of years to Android much better for my user experience
"I literally walked into the Windows XP wallpaper!"
Im dead
😂
iOS 18 is supposed to be the biggest change to iPhone since 2007. With Gemini intergration that could bring me back to Apple (maybe).
I am looking forward to the iPhone 25 when Apple introduces 45w fast charging and reverse wireless charging.
About bloody time Mark, been telling you this for years 😂😂😂
Hahaha - look who it is! And you were right, mate...
I bet you wish you had one though really.
I switched years when apple updates started crashing the older model phones
The one thing that keeps me with Apple is FaceTime. I work away from home a LOT and there’s nothing out there that comes close to it! Great video as always
So what happens to your smartwatch choice I.e Apple Watch Ultra 2????
I'll carry on wearing this Garmin!
Ps I have never noticed Windows XP at The Warwickshire 🤣🤣 Great spot
Everywhere on YT there is tons of video having thumbnails of switching from iphone to s24 ultra. Is it legit switching or just Samsung's bright time or apples dooms day.
It seems that switching a SIM card is a symbolic act to some existential degree. Dear God, we're only talking cell phones here.
Im using the s24 ultra and i wouldnt change it for nothing ❤❤❤
Great video as usual…I would suggest you to try the new one plus watch too
For power users, Android is generally the better phone.
However, the vast majority of smartphone users in the world are not power users. For them, there is practically no difference between Samsung and iPhone. Both are very capable devices.
I recently switched from OnePlus One to iPhone 15. The switch was basically trivial.
OMG.. the windows xp wallpaper 😍 lol
I think the biggest difference between the Apple and Samsung ecosystems is that the Samsung ecosystem is more open for products outside the brand. Even though the Apple ecosystem works very well, it is also more of a prison designed to keep you in.... for life and making it as hard as possible to switch.
It’s the thought of losing my Apple Watch Ultra 😢. Nothing compares to the Ultra in my opinion. Except maybe a $1200 Garmin Tactix 😬
I’ve seen a few reviews of the S24U and on every one the video seems a little ‘choppy’. Maybe it’s me…
I think you'll have fun. 👍
I already am!
