So many non-denominational Christians are really hesitant to even consider the authenticity of the shroud. It’s odd. I hear, "Well i don't need that to confirm my faith" more often than not when i bring it up. It's an odd flex. It's like hey man, God left this for a reason. Don't let pride get in the way of you seeing Christ in this life!
Yeah, I absolutely believe it is. The only actual evidence against it is a poorly performed carbon dating test. Where samples were taken from the most contaminated part of the cloth that was handled and touched hundreds, or possibly thousands, of times, and probably a piece where it was repaired. Also, a test which people had to legally fight for 27 years to get the actual data results of. Because they didn’t want to release it and show that the test had been done so poorly. A bishop in the Middle Ages saying he believed it was fake isn’t any kind of evidence..Every other test, along with common sense and reason, tells you that no medieval forger could’ve possibly made this fake.
100% positive this is authentic. There is no humanly way the image couldve been imprinted on the linen with the limited technology they had back then. And i agree that this doesnt shape my faith or determin my salvation, but it sure does validate my belief that the Lord Jesus Christ is and was EXACTLY who He said He was!!!!
Very compelling, I didn't know much information going into this other than I remember hearing it was proven to be a fake by the dating process used,... After watching this I am now around 85% convinced it IS The Shroud of our Saviour, Christ our Lord. Again it brings home the level and extent of his suffering & Love for us. It sounds horrific. A real-life nightmare,
We’re glad to hear the evidence is making you think! We aim to present facts fairly and let the truth speak for itself. God’s Word always stands strong. God Bless!
It's not total BS but it's not definitive either. Is useful for bracketing dates, but there are many factors in collection and provenance that are often not followed correctly, which invalidates results.
There’s definitely far too much credibility and weight given to its results. It has been proven to be way off too many times. I don’t think that they mentioned in this video that they had to legally fight for like 27 years to get the actual data from the carbon dating test they performed on the shroud. They did not want anyone to see it. There are videos about it on TH-cam.
I like that you two are reserved, fully skeptical. That makes a person listen. No one needs to believe the Shroud is really the miraculous image of Christ crucifed, in order to put your faith/trust in Christ to redeem you from your sins. Gary Habermans book or Tome on the Resurrection of Christ has enough scholarly evidence to convince the worst skeptic, and even The Case For Christ has converted haters of Christianity to believers. No one needs The Shroud to be true to believe. Yet. There is some other critiques of it. One point is that the image is not anatomically correct. There are proportion issues with the image. The hands are what people point to. @@WJHDetroit 1.) The fingers are fine, go take a look at what an x-ray of a hand looks like. 2.) Initial carbon dating was done incorrectly. They had told everyone three tests were done when in reality what they did was took ONE strain from the repaired section (the triangles you see on the shroud) and cut that strain into 3 pieces. They then sent those off to be tested. After they came back with the results, they sat and stonewalled against releasing how the data for over 20 years and it took if im not mistaken a court order to get it released. Since that time multiple labs have come out and said that the manner in which the initial carbon dating test was done violated every rule when conducting those tests. The practice of placing coins over the eyes of the dead is not a traditional Jewish burial custom, this ritual is more commonly associated with ancient Greek and Roman traditions. In these cultures, it was believed that the coins were meant to pay the ferryman Charon to carry the soul of the deceased across the river Styx to the afterlife. That simply would have been disgracing our Lord’s body. You have to look at who buried Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea a member of the Sanhedrin, the Jewish council and Nicodemus, another secret follower of Jesus. Why would these men put coins over Jesus’s eyes? As devout Jews, They wouldn’t. I don’t know if this is a forgery or not, but the coins over the eyes point to it for sure not being Jesus.
It’s an interesting thought that placing coins on graves could have been more of a cultural practice, similar to how non-Christians sometimes celebrate Christmas because it’s prevalent in their community. However, when we consider the historical context of this particular coin, especially as it relates to Pilate, there’s more to the story. Pilate was the Roman governor over Judea, which, as you pointed out, was predominantly Jewish. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Jewish customs dictated everything in the region, especially when it came to Roman rule. The presence of the coin might seem strange at first because it doesn’t align with typical Jewish burial practices. But the influence of Roman culture in the area can’t be ignored. Even though the majority of people were Jewish, Roman symbols and governance often permeated daily life. The existence of the coin could indicate a blending of cultures or even a sign of Roman authority over the region. It’s essential to approach these historical nuances with an open mind, understanding that while Jewish customs were prominent, Roman influence, especially in governance and public life, was ever-present. The coin on the grave could symbolize more than just a cultural gesture; it may have been a reflection of the broader political and social realities of the time. God Bless!

In a previous episode about Josef, you stated Israelites were were buried on their side in the fetal position. So what if it would’ve changed between the time of Joseph and the time of Jesus is burial? Would Jesus have been laid flat like a pharaoh with his hands in front of him? Or would he been buried on his side as we’ve seen other burial sites of Jewish people?
That’s a great observation! Burial practices did evolve over time. During the era of Joseph in Egypt, it's true that burials were often done in the fetal position, which was a common practice in the ancient Near East. But by the time of Jesus’ burial, Jewish customs had shifted. By then, Jewish people were typically laid flat in their tombs, wrapped in linen, as we see described in the Gospels. This is why Jesus was laid in a tomb wrapped in the burial shroud and not positioned on His side. The change likely reflects the influence of evolving cultural and religious practices over the centuries. In Jesus' case, being laid flat also aligns with the burial preparation carried out by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, who followed Jewish customs of that time. It’s interesting to note that while Pharaohs were often laid flat in an elaborate manner, Jesus’ burial, though sacred, was more humble and simple, in keeping with the Jewish traditions of His day. Thank you for asking! It’s always fascinating to explore how burial customs reflect different historical periods. God Bless. That’s a great observation! Burial practices did evolve over time. I only have one question. I am a Christian. Why does the Bible bounce you around for “one’s” answers? I understand that you have to read and comprehend the Bible for yourself, but man, (no offense Jesus), answers are spread out pretty wide. Any reason for this?
That’s a great observation! The Bible can definitely seem like it’s bouncing around when you’re looking for answers. But there’s a reason for that. God’s Word was written by different authors over thousands of years, and it reveals truth in layers. It’s almost like a puzzle-each verse and chapter gives a piece of the bigger picture. As we read and study different parts of Scripture, we start to see how they connect and give us a fuller understanding of God’s plan. This design encourages us to dig deeper and spend time exploring His Word. God wants us to seek Him through Scripture, building a stronger relationship as we discover more about Him. In Proverbs 25:2, we’re told, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” So, even when it seems like answers are spread out, it’s God inviting us to engage with Him more closely, trusting that He will reveal truth as we study. Also, many answers aren’t in just one place because God wants us to see how everything in the Bible points back to Jesus. From Genesis to Revelation, all the pieces of Scripture fit together to tell the story of His redemption plan for humanity. As we continue to read, the Holy Spirit helps us understand more and more. So, while it might feel scattered at first, God’s wisdom is woven throughout the Bible to help us grow in faith. Keep pressing in! God Bless!
Why would jesus have long hair and a beard? Nobody ask this question, why do people just accept this? Jesus with the long hair and beard is the Byzantine look. What evidence do we have about jewish men with long hair and beard 2000 years ago? There would have been strict norms in jewish society, you could not just look and dress out of the norm. Long hair would have been seen as unclean.
I dont understand the persistence of those trying to "prove" artifacts of biblical significance... Either you believe or you dont believe..focus on reading Gods words and living as Jesus taught. 🌷
Jesus taught to keep the sabbath. Do you do that? Did He teach the day changed? Do we have any doctrine that says the day was changed? Because then He would have to change His Lordship. For He is Lord over the sabbath. Jesus says, go and teach all that i taught you. Did He teach the sunday worship? At the resurrection? At the ascension? Nope. So when you say focus on God's word. You might want to focus on this. Because God says, the sabbath is a sign on whom you serve.
Faith is ultimately about trusting in God’s Word and following Jesus’ teachings. Artifacts, while interesting, aren’t necessary for belief. They can offer historical insights, but our focus of Under The Hood always remains on living out the gospel and growing in our relationship with Christ. Feel free to check out our full video on TH-cam for more context. God Bless!

If this is true, then the Turin shroud can't be that of Jesus.
Lol someone thinks they know more than the biblical expert. A simple Google search would also prove you wrong. If you close they eyes of a deceased person before rigor mortis sets in, then the stiffening of the body during rigor mortis can cause the eyes to open back up. Many cultures would, in fact, place coins on the eyes to keep this from happening. Don't assume that everyone during that time placed coins on the eyes to pay for passage across the river Styx. Not everyone believed Greek mythology. haha
"The Two Babylons" by Alexander Hislop will tell you exactly what and where that "image" of your so-called Jesus came from. About a 130 page book that was made during the reign of King James and can be considered his second greatest written work aside from the Bible translation of the 1600's. I say none of this to disqualify this fantastic video. I just wish to tell you of this great book you can find in your library.
Nothing from the 1600s could’ve made the image present on the cloth. Thats just a fact. I own that book and while it may be good there’s simply nothing anyone from that time period could’ve done to create such an image without leaving obvious clues to allow for recreation. Stop trying to sound so sure of something you clearly haven’t taken the time to do the research on.

During the era of Joseph in Egypt, it's true that burials were often done in the fetal position, which was a common practice in the ancient Near East. Thank you for taking the time to answer! I enjoy learning more about the Bible. I would love to hear about Revelation from a historical perspective
God Bless!
@@underthehoodFL thank you!!

@@underthehoodFL You are kidding me right? Prophecy proves God in so much He tells you before hand. lol.
The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Jesus' suffering was specially torturous.
My issue with the shroud. It make Jesus 6 feet tall. For the time it will be a giant. Isaiah 53:2 (NKJV - There is no beauty that we should desire Him.) Ask any women a men over 6 feet is desirable.

How many people were crucified?
How many people could have their image transferred to a cloth ?
@@OG-GenX065 John 20:5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus'[a] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.
If this is true, then the Turin shroud can't be that of Jesus.
Lmao....they didn't place coins on their eyes to keep them shut that's now what the coins are for
Lol someone thinks they know more than the biblical expert.
I didn't say that image on the shroud. I said the image of your Jesus. The video is outstanding. You, my friend, are a half wit that can not read.
Hislop has been discredited by several historians.
