If death came through Adam as the bible teaches then before Adam there is no death, so the belief in evolution would be a contradiction to the creation story.
I believe in a young earth, but he is 100% correct. The creation account in Genesis is an account of the creation of our world and our solar system. Far too many people mistakenly conflate that with the entire Universe.. Young earth, ancient universe, eternal God.
And there was morning, and there was night. One day. One 24 hour period.
There was no moon and sun in the first day, you will have to wait till the fourth day sorry... you cannot calculate 24 hour period of time or morning and night without the sun and the moon. "Erev" and "Boker" must be interpreted differently at least in the first 3 days

Sounds like the universe is just as old as the earth to me. And since we can use biblical geneologies and their ages, we can get pretty close to the age of the earth.

My point is, there is nothing to support or contradict that a day may not have been the same as today. We can observe the moon in a geostationary orbit, if the earth was similarly locked with the sun, a day could be millions of years. On Mercury the planet orbits the sun faster than it rotates on its axis. People don't think laterally and you both are proof of that.
There was no time before Genesis 1:3. That is why the first verse has a different tense.

You can grow plants without the sun, you just need light. If God can make the sun and the universe, he can make light. Builders can build a house before they install the wiring, they bring temporary lights with them.

@@jamesmaybury7452 you can do so on our planet because we orbit a star within the Goldilocks zone of our solar system (where temperature is neither too hot nor too cold for carbon based life to emerge). You forget, it is not just light that is needed for photosynthesis, but a specific temperature as well. All life on Earth has developed in accordance with the temperature of the sun’s heat. That means that if you deprived a plant of sunlight and made your own light for it to grow, you’re still depending upon the heat of the air you’re using to grow the plant.
NO life can exist without a sun. Do you actually have any idea how cold a planet with no sun near it would be? You talk about this like it is so trivial, that of course a supernatural sentient being who is spaceless and timeless yet can interact with space and time decided to make the Earth in seven days. You are familiar with Ockham’s razor, yes? Do you earnestly believe that your proposal is the most likely, let alone at all empirically evident? My friend, you are succumbing to an outrageous form of confirmation bias. Scientifically speaking, your theory doesn’t even merit hearing out.
Besides, the verse claims that ‘day and night’ are created before the sun, when we know that they are the product of the Earth’s rotation upon its axis relative to the Sun. Is it not more likely that this verse is the product of human minds observing their reality long before they understood its basic principles? The whole of Genesis is blatantly composed without any regard towards the laws of physics because, guess what, people hadn’t a clue about them at the time of its composition.
There is absolutely no shame at all in admitting that you do not understand and have answers for every natural phenomenon. But that doesn’t mean that Humanity does not have the knowledge that you don’t, or that if we have found a phenomenon no one understands, that we’ll never come closer to understanding it. You need to acquaint yourself properly with the scientific method. It involves a reasonable hypothesis, which then must undergo rigorous proof via experimentation and observation, before being declared a theory which is in accordance with observable reality. Science is DESCRIPTIVE, not prescriptive. If it’s a prescription of the universe you want, then you ask too much. It is arrogant and lazy to force a conclusion before irrefutable data to support it. There is no evidence for any deity’s existence.
God has nothing to prove to you.

As a Christian when people ask me this question I always say can we know what a day is to God? I sure don't. I dont think its a 24 hr cycle in Genesis how can there be a day before God created the sun and moon on the 3rd or 4th day I dont quite remeber off the top of my head which it is
I've been telling people, (actually, i've been arguing this point with fundamentalist protestants) for years.
We have no real idea of what time is and it how it works and if it’s really real or just a useful temporary reference.
The more you study time the more mysterious it becomes.

God created the whole universe from physical to invisible under certain rules and being a scientist we find the rules common in the physical and invisible world, that's why I have a firm belief that studying science will make someone to understand the religion better

It is only in the period between verse 1 and verse 2 of Gen 1 that the track of time gets lost as we go backward in time.

Are you just trying to get science in sync with the scriptures? That will never happen.
Just a reminder, genesis didn't truly focus on earthly events til adam which was "day" 7, so the phrase "day and night" had a different meaning on the other "six days", one that wasn't for earth but for god

The important point is ::: God SPOKE. God made everything by His voice. But when God made mankind, God took material and made a male human. Then God took from the male human and made a female human. God joined them together as husband and wife. When they broke God’s commandment, became idolaters (believed THEY could be like God); God instituted the sacrifice of animals to point to the Sacrifice of Jesus of Nazareth. When the first couple’s son Cain ignored blood sacrifice, that pointed to the life giving blood of Christ Jesus, God interrupted Cain’s worship and rejected Cain’s bloodless sacrifice, because it did not testify of Christ Jesus’ as The Lamb of God.
I have always tried to get people to stop arguing over the 1st 12 chapters of Genesis. Has nothing to do with our salvation.😊

It is a collection of writings, & through the study we see the lessons, or wisdom, also prophesy of God speaking through His chosen Prophets of Israel. Other than the 13 books of Christ Apostle Paul, & some of Acts the Bible is specifically written to the people of Israel. All the Old Testament including Gennesis written for the learning & understanding of the God of Israel. Supposedly all the first 5 books were from Moses as these writings were given for the understandings of those people. Our Gospel says That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Salvation is not in Genesis, salvation is not in the Levitical law, that was the covenant God had with the Jews, that ended with Christ death, burial, & resurrection. The temple veil rent bottom to top as Christ sprinkled His Atoning Blood on the Mercy Seat in Heaven. Through the promises to Israel, we are given our salvation in Christ. Secure your relationship- with Christ first to understand the rest of the bible, & religion as a whole because they are many seeking to influence you. But there is only one way as in 2 Peter, 3rd chapter
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

@@brennansander6165 Yes it is, & it was written some 1400 or so BC. God spoke this to Moses for the knowing of His Chosen people. It is in the Torah as Moses is said to have written the Torah the first 5 books of the Old Testament. The thing is, after you give your heart to Christ, our Savior you should see that as all the writings to the Israelites law & prophets are for our learning & wisdom. We have a new doctrine, & covenant, or promise of Salvation in Grace. Share that & not argue over Gods dealings with the Israelites.

A lot of believers are insecure about anything science says contradicting scripture, and they'll throw out good data and observations we actually make about the universe to protect the scripture. Scripture doesn't need defending, and science does not contradict scripture. 👍🏼

Insightful. I was wondering about the translation from Hebrew of the word day. Because, as muslim, the word day means also in Arabic an undefined period of time. But when translated into French, it means only a day time. As a french saying "translation can be treason".

The word heaven in Genesis 1 is singular, not plural. Very important.

It'll make you go insane to figure out just how old heaven, the universe and the earth is. It's probably so, so old that you cannot trace it's origin on a human level... doing so and/or finding out will probably likely destroy us. Hence, it shouldn't really matter in terms of what can help us. What matters is that we turn to God for guidance, no matter where we've been, where we are and where we're going. Regardless of the age of the timeline.
