State of the collection doesn't have to be updated every time you get a watch. Just do it like once every 6 months

Somewhat unrelated to the video but I want to thank you for giving me a greater appreciation for timepieces. My first watch came in the mail today (a Timex Metropolitan) and I have you to thank for encouraging people to do research on watches before making a purchase. If anything you've saved me quite a bit of money looking at alternatives than from buying a "fashion watch"

I can think of no other watch channel that has educated me to the variety of time pieces that exist. Of the watches presented it is the Breitling Navitimer and the Sinn 104 that most catch my attention.

It’s a shame, Tristano. Sincerily speaking, I love this 6 month update on the “state of collection”. Always a pleasure seeing you and hearing you reflecting and adding your comments over every single timepiece.

I like the variety of your collection TGV but more so, the diversity in price and brand of the pieces. As you’ve mentioned in the past, it shouldn’t matter how much a watch costs, but that it brings you enjoyment. 👏🏻👏🏻

I realised that I have my dream watches and the ones in my collection for now. I let go of my watch snobbery and started buying watches I liked, as I know that I can sell them and get the trail when I can truly afford them. I have learned a lot from your channel which I really appreciate. Thank you. So far a Turtle, mechanical Glycine, a 90s Timex digital, various cheaper field watches and a vintage Tissot Visodate. I'm having fun buying, trying and selling. Learning as I go along. Have a great new year, everyone. Gott nytt år from a London ex-pat in Sweden.

As a new follower/subscriber I want to say thank you for drawing me into the world of watches. Helping me learn that there is so much more to watches than the name that is on the dial. Because of this channel I have now started my own watch collection. Starting with the classic SKX and an Orient Mako to a Bulova Precisionist and now my latest reciept by mail last night.....A beautiful Glycine Combat Sub GL0083. I am also waiting on another order to arrive.....A gorgeous Squale' Tropic GMT. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and many thanks for opening my eyes to such a wonderful world of horology and history with your channel filled with incredible videos.

Well, I believe that your fans will speak through on this "last state of the collection" deal. We, your fans and supporters love the state of the collection shows. Each time we see your collection is like a trip to fantasyland. No need to do them so often, but please keep doing them. It could be the same watches every time and I'd still watch it!

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to get my husband for his birthday. After watching your videos I have finally decided to get him an Orient Bambino. Now that I understand more about watches I have been looking at some for myself now.

The Explorer, The Sinn, and The Fortis will always be my favorites in your collection. Add the Universal Geneve as the dress watch and the Timex for some vintage nostalgia and I'd be content with a five watch collection.

I feel that I as a Swede have to comment. "Näcken" is a mythological creature, much like the greek sirens, who plays the lyre by a riverbend. He lures people to drown them in the water, he is quite beautiful. The submarine is named after this creature, and one of swedens most famous poems is about Näcken. Being 'näck' is also a swedish word for naked.

I do understand not doing the SOTC videos, however, it is very enjoyable having you do a summary review of a group of watches in addition to the in-depth reviews. I hope you will consider a new format that would accomplish a group viewing of watches you have on hand at a point in time. Hope that makes sense! Thanks, awesome stuff as always!!

Nice to see the Casio DBC 611E Databank in your collection. I bought a DBC32 in black with the rubber strap and it's brilliant for the money, and also very accurate for its price. Only had a drift of a couple of seconds plus inside of 2 months, incredible considering it's only an average of £25. The only criticism I have with the modern Databank is they lack the schedule alarm, secret passworded data memory and backup memory certain original models had. The original Databank models are fetching decent money in good condition with all the box and paperwork. Great channel.

WOW! this collection is pure class!
I love the Fortis and the Dubey Schaldenbrand, but as my Grail watch: I mostly adore the Sinn 104 :)
I definitely like all of your watches and can't wait to be able to afford even one of those mechanical beauties one day...
I think you're right that it is not important to do a state of the collection often, but once a year, before christmas... why not? it's nice to watch!
Don't you have a Speedy currently?
Thanks for all your videos, always a pleasure to watch!
All the best, happy christmas and happy new year, if this is my last comment before christmas :P

Love the collection video. Mine is a bit more "compact." I find the more pieces I had the less wrist time each piece received. The collection, as it stands today: Tudor Black Bay 79220N, Omega Speedmaster Professional 3750.50 and a Rolex GMT 116710BLNR "the batman". Thinking about adding a Panerai 112 and an IWC Big Pilot 5002 and take the collection from "the 3 Musketeers" to "the Fantastic 5." Thoughts?

I am probably going to spend a bit of money because of you and your gushing over -and critiquing several watches. Likely an SKX 007 009 or 013 depending how they feel on the wrist. And maybe a calculator watch too. Keep up the excellent videos. Cheers from Canada. :)

It was my grandfathers. 2 days latter i fixed it and my dad looked at me like i had done the impossible. There was tremendous pride in his face. I have a 7k dollar watch but i think i enjoy showing off the old timex just as much. Its the stories. Its the hunt. That's what i love

For "video watches" you should consider taking loaners from your viewers. I'm coming from the knife world and it's fairly common there. Also I don't know if you're a pocket knife connoisseur as well (I noticed the personalized Opinel), but I would highly recommend a Chris Reeve Sebenza if you're looking for the last knife you'll ever want.

Of all the great watches here, the Omega is my favorite. What a piece. That in a 40mm would be my grail. Back to reality, I think your explorer is perfect. Cheers.

I'm glad you kept your vintage timex marlin, and your ww2 RAF omega watch in your collection. All good choices in your collection, at least in my opinion. Also are vintage swatch watches serviceable? Nice including photographs of the french battleship Jean Bart, or is it the Richelieu? As a background for the Rolex Submariner.

Wow, you really know your battleships Alex, I am impressed.
As for the RAF Omega and Marlin, your opinion is based on good taste and I respect you for it my friend.
I am glad to have such viewers among the Gentry!
      Thank you,
      Best regards,

Since you have a few Swedish subs can't you try to get a sjöö sandström for a revew? They look great and i think they have stores selling them in the US.

    Hi TGV
Always loved the “state of the collection” videos, but I understand your choice...
Stars of the show is for me: The Dubey, the modified SKS (-understand your “settlement”, it’s perfect), the Rolex Explorer, the Lion Shark and the Fortis Cosmonaut. Can’t wait to see the last one compared to the Speedy...
Talking of that; you had a new Speedmaster model coming up some time ago- will we see a test of that?
    Cool video as always.
    Keep up the good work👍

Lusting after your Explorer, that's the updated model I want. We have mentioned Man Men Dan Draper, my old hangout, the mysterious Formosa Café in Hollywood, where scenes were filmed. So true, TGV, one has to experience a piece. Took me a few months to love my Speedo, glad I kept it. Hope to see you in LA one day. Best Regards, JP

Love your videos and knowledge of watches. I recently got back into watches (Omega Seamaster). I am a bit of an oddity , I'm right handed and wear a watch also on my right. Always felt weird wearing one on my left hand. Cheers.

I enjoy your videos a great deal. I specially enjoy Hugos jokes. As someone who’s working corrections for many years. His jokes are priceless. However I’m sorry to hear that this is your last and my first of your state of the watch collections reviews, I learned a great deal and I thought it was fascinating. I will try to go to that other social platform that you suggested butI I just wanted to say thanks for this review of watches you have me a lot of ideas. I only own two vintage watches, my bristling chronograph with a separate 24 hour watch on the bracelet and my recently purchased a omega chronograph seamaster, with a white dial, it comes in a wooden box. Right now it’s checked by a expert for authenticity. I’m still looking at a Rolex Daytona someday. That is my dream watch. You and Jenni are my best guides to this world of luxury watches that I have only entered into in my 60th year on planet earth.🧭

Can't really blame you tbh, the urge to continue buying must be overwhelming. If i can offer just a little piece of advice, 20 watches seems a tad extreme to me, i believe a cull is in order.
I've called it a day myself but with 9 timepieces i'm looking to offload a couple to reduce the collection to a more manageable number.

Can someone please school a newbie, what makes that Sinn a pilots-watch and not a diver? Many thanks.

Will you ever make a video about quartz watches? For example a buying guide, the best brands or what to look for in a good quartz watch. I do think they have their place in horology.
