imagine he was doing this in front of a whole class, and just started teaching out of no where. this dudes workplace looks like a classroom, and hes got the correct attire.
I actually think this was one of the more stronger examples of production because he has an understanding of cadence I don't see with a lot of the other RR producers. He used his ear to piece together two different samples in a chord progression. Most producers on RR are just finding a loop and putting a beat underneath it. Large Pro, of course, being an exception. I think if more producers would take the time to learn some basic music theory, their musical universe would start to open up. Most of these guys are just repeating a very crude formula and mistakenly becoming frazzled when they select records outside of soul or funk.
Dope comment about "Artistic Growth" and how Producers should evolve.. But one thing you NEVER EVER DO... IS GO AGAINST THE BASIC FORMULA OF HIP HOP TO MAKE ARGUMENT....
Great comment. I've came into making hip hop beats later down the line after studying music from a playing and theoretical standpoint, and it definitely helps with fitting samples together both melodically and rhythmically. Also makes working out chord progressions and less common time signatures so much easier and opens up a world of different styles to be used for sampling or making your own melodies and chord progressions.
He's dressed like that cuz he teaches in a school ... teaches the youth how to make beats .. I'm surprised no one here ever heard of Digga .. He's done beats for Camron , Big L , Jay Z 50 Cent and countless others . peep his book The Beat Game
If you know anything about your history you might appreciate this guys as one of the pioneers and architects of the sounds you are listening to now. Know your ledge ijiat bwoy.
fam got a classroom full of Midi controllers....that's fire! Most middle schools so broke they will have you making beats using the table and a pencil and a nigga in the back humming the melody!
Is he now a school principal ? That studio looks like a teachers office ? Mad respect to how casual he tackled the whole beat ... Like " it ain't no thang "
Haha you made me laugh with that working at a school thing, I was thinking he was working at sum kind of local authority office or sum shit! The way he's dressed too. He was probably on his lunch break and he made that wack beat cos he only had an hour. The lack of his enthusiasm was due to him missing lunch lol!
Ok you gotta give the man an A for effort being that he only had a few mins to do this and not enough time to really sit down and play around with the sample. Some days you can literally put together some shit in a few mins and some you need time to really listen to shit. The beat is on point for what it is right now and I would have gone back into it at a later time to really make it a banger as it has a lot of potential.
Its funny never seen this dudes face b4, i was put on 2 this book by a producer named DDS (check him out). Quite ironc 2 because im from the same place as digga also so it all kinda comes full circle. This was a dope RR
the only thing that could be better about this series is if they actually showed them chopping the drums up (or taking them from whatever source they're getting em from).. its one of the most important parts of making a beat. in this one at least they showed him playing them out. but it seems like in most episodes it shows them sampling, and then the drums just come in out of nowhere, as if they're pre-made. chopping, layering, looping, and sequencing drums is one of the most vital parts of the process
"...and then the drums just come in out of nowhere, as if they're pre-made." - Because most of the drums getting used in these vids are pretty clearly from commercial sound sets. I mean, almost everybody does it - It's not really much different, from a process perspective, than using a drum machine or midi module. Still, I would be more impressed by this series in general if all the sounds used originated from the records, no outboard gear that generates a tone - fx only.
the best beats are made from blindfolded ass producers, this proves a lot, the best music is made with shit you have no control overand you just have to work with it
he coulda dropped that weird keyboard sound and just went with that horn samples and the "ooooohh's" ... he shoulda pitch corrected that sample of the keys scaling down, pitch them up or down, to match the horns or the vocals...pshhh look at me giving digga advice!
+abc def he's a middle school teacher he's teaching the class in his classroom, that's why there's those cupboards and the smart board on the wall. and a dozen other desks with computers at them in front of him.
Never heard of this guy until now. I was about to click on another video when he said he will pass on Rufus and Shaka ???? I thought he lost his mind until I heard the sample. Peebo of all people damn this nigga is the truth.
I dig this beat, I don't get why not many are., just because of using software ? At least sounds better then the beats that the west is currently making with those stupid jingle.
At the time when I saw this, everyone was hating on the beat because he's using some software, and I'm just saying it sounds better than what the west recently be sounding like. Like Wack DJ Mustard beats.
If he had made another beat like this one, he should've given it to Cam'ron for his last solo album - I mean Purple Haze 2 was 💣 and had catchy songs for all Cam'ron fans, but it was missing at least one beat by his first producer Digga.
He seems like a positive brotha. Using his skills to help the kids.
imagine he was doing this in front of a whole class, and just started teaching out of no where. this dudes workplace looks like a classroom, and hes got the correct attire.
He says that it IS a classroom.
it is, he teaches at a school

Shittt I wish that i had a class like that in my school
why he get blindfolded it was only like 6 records on that corner
Not gonna lie if i seen this dude on the street i would've never of guessed in a million years that he's a producer. lol.
I dig this beat, no pun intended. most of the cats on Mass appeal didn't even try layering different loops on top of each other.
Is he now a school principal ? That studio looks like a teachers office ? Mad respect to how casual he tackled the whole beat ... Like " it ain't no thang "

This beat is fire🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I dig this beat, I don't get why not many are., just because of using software ? At least sounds better then the beats that the west is currently making with those stupid jingle.
fuck you talking about
At the time when I saw this, everyone was hating on the beat because he's using some software, and I'm just saying it sounds better than what the west recently be sounding like. Like Wack DJ Mustard beats.

Hey Mass Appeal!! Can u get Waajeed from PPP on Rhythm Roulette?!
Dope flip
Mofo don't know Peabo Bryson... Come on dude!
Cheated a little with the pre-made drums. The really creative ones are where the person ONLY uses the 3 records.
That peabo has some 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
nice beat
look at the focus in his eyes 4:06
Is this the same Digga that was down with Masta Ace?
Nah, that was Lord Digga.
Cool!
If he had made another beat like this one, he should've given it to Cam'ron for his last solo album - I mean Purple Haze 2 was 💣 and had catchy songs for all Cam'ron fans, but it was missing at least one beat by his first producer Digga.
I came here for two reasons: children of the corn and Cam'ron and dmx
Pretty dope
