I think it was already cliche, and not in a bad way. It's just these cliches are no longer popular. Like in the Jem movie minus ripping apart any source material.
What is up with these movies Jack Frost: Micheal Keaton becomes a snowman Fluke:Man becomes a dog as he died in a car crash. The Shaggy Dog:Tim Allen becomes a dog. MonkeyBones:Brendan Fraiser becomes a monkey. Nine Lives: Kevin Spacey becomes a cat what next Hugh Jackman as a sheep,Adam Sandler as a monkey.
I find it really weird when children's movies try to say that it's wrong to work all the time. They make it seem like parents that put a lot of time into their work don't care about anything else, when really sometimes a parent has no other choice. Do the film makers not realize the ramifications raising a child entails? Food, clothes, allergy and cold medication, medical insurance, school supplies, child support if the parents are divorced, electronics if the family is not impoverished, etc. Raising a family is not a walk in the park. I really wish more films would realize this instead of demonizing any parent that dare work hard.
isn't this a ripoff of the mid-2000's movie, Shaggy Dog? Didn't anyone else notice this? They are the same movie, only Nine Lives features a cat instead of a dog and the plot is far less coherent.
First, the intro where you annihilated your laptop (for Aki Sora), then that creepy one (for Suicide Squad), and then this one. Man, when it comes to interesting and dramatic intros, you are a GOD!!!!!
I've seen this cringe-worthy film. It's like they saw "Rob Schneider is a Carrot!" and decided "Kevin Spacey is a Cat!" Except, the Rob Schneider would have been better. I felt so sorry for the kids that decided to drag their parents to this film. I heard FAR more laughs for Bad Moms, Sausage Party, and Secret Life of Pets. (Didn't say they were all kid-friendly. Just saying this movie will have you cringing.)
It would be epic as hell if maybe a group of 5 or 10 youtuber movie/anime critics came together in one video to make maybe a 20 minute vid horribly depicting Hollywood's cliches. Tony would TOTALLY play the "I gets no love" role perfectly. Sorry I'm dreaming...but Tony where can I buy that book?
This just seems like some cheap movie that would've aired on Disney channel or something back in like, 2002. For most movies, even for the fifth fuckin' Ice Age movie, I try and give it a chance. I have this faint hope that it might be some type of good, or at least not utter shit. This movie, though, as soon as I saw the trailer, I KNEW it would be utter shit. Even as a kid, I hated these "talking animal"/"switches places with animal" movies that aired on TV and not in theaters. The fact that this even managed to get into a theatre at all is just sad.
That's what I thought so too when I first watched the trailer. It doesn't help that this kind of story has already been done to death and the cgi looks very outdated.
Dude, you missed a cliche! Can't forget: Main character played by a C-B List actor that they shove on all the promotions as a cheap selling point (even though no child knows who they are and usually aren't old enough to watch anything they're in...seriously, how many 5-9 year olds watch House of Cards)
Let me guess- after this whole fiasco they get a new cat. (Now that BCG brought up the ending, I'm actually pretty dang curious. I don't even wanna see this movie, but I'm still curious!)
KEVIN SPACEY IS A SORT OF SUCCESSFUL BUISSNESS MAN WHO HAD EVERYTHING GOING FOR HIM EXCEPT THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME FOR HIS FAMILY. UNTIL ONE DAY, HE TURNS INTO.... A CAT! AND HE'S ABOUT TO FIND OUT THAT BEING A CAT IS PAW-SOME AND HARDER THAN IT LOOKS! ROB SCHNEIDER.... I MEAN KEVIN SPACEY IS... A CAT! RATED PEE GEE THIRTEEN ^--- You guys all throught this when you saw the trailers, didn't you?
Not exactly my favorite movie like this, but I did like the one where the landlord from Threes Company turns into a fish. Probably one of the weirder ones anyway.
Critic, does this movie have a scene where Spacey, as a cat, goes to Walken, and then Walken tries to kill him by shooting him multiple times and Space says "Six! Seven! All good girls go to heaven!"?
I was in the theatre for 10 cloverfield lane and this trailer came up. The minute it did the audience went silent. I was dumbfounded. After the trailer I heard someone go "That looks like shit" and I was like, "Yeah". Glad I called that shit early
+BlackCriticGuy You also said you hated Collision Course. Just being for kids is not an excuse to be bad. Kids have no standards, but they do deserve better. I'm learning to write for cartoons in college, & the children's part of the course said the same thing.
+BlackCriticGuy Aiming something for kids is no excuse to be bad. The "It's just for kids" mentality is wrong. Norm of the North is another example, you can't hide behind "it's just for kids" when you have Zootopia & Finding Dory treating children with respect actually putting effort into their work. Kids deserve better, families deserve better.
What did Nine Lives copy and paste? Click... being a workaholic with Christopher Walken yet again doing his dastard deeds. Jingle All the Way... forgetting to buy a gift to his or her child. And... one tv series where a bully turns into dog by some deranged weirdo and to break the curse is by doing 100 good deeds. Again... I forgot whats the name of the tv dog show series. Yup... check on all.
When it comes to the "one tv series where a bully turns into dog by some deranged weirdo and to break the curse is by doing 100 good deeds", you're thinking of "100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd" on Nickelodeon.
Liar Liar, A Thousand Words, Bedtime Stories, The Game Plan, The Tooth Fairy (1 & 2). There's definitely more, but that's all the ones I could think of.
i would have to say fluke, sure it had some of the cliches mentioned here but i found the movie very enjoyable and uniquely handled in some ways and the ending? adorably funny but bittersweet at the same time as it wasnt a TOTAL happy ending like most of these movies have which really surprised me so yeah fluke is definitely one of my faves
Sorry to be mean but the opening joke with the handbook just meanders. You can just do it quickly but reading off the checklist. You don't have to explain the plot as well because we'll understand through the checklist. Good rest of the review though :)
Nine Lives: The Movie Nobody Asked For.
Shaggy dog but with a cat
+Des the Artist (UndeadOtaku) And still more dated, it seems.
ajmrowland At least Shaggy dog came out before these were major cliches
I think it was already cliche, and not in a bad way. It's just these cliches are no longer popular. Like in the Jem movie minus ripping apart any source material.
Can I have a copy of your Cliche handbook?
i like that "cliche notebook" bit you used. you should use that in your reviews more often.
What is up with these movies
Jack Frost: Micheal Keaton becomes a snowman
Fluke:Man becomes a dog as he died in a car crash.
The Shaggy Dog:Tim Allen becomes a dog.
MonkeyBones:Brendan Fraiser becomes a monkey.
Nine Lives: Kevin Spacey becomes a cat
what next Hugh Jackman as a sheep,Adam Sandler as a monkey.
*hears crazy cats sounds*
me: "Jesus Christ"
bcg: "JESUS CHRIST!!!"
XD
This movie looks like a cheesy disney channel original movie
I thought they left these movies in 2004
This movie is similar to Shaggy Dog which make sense.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BLACK CRITIC GUY YOUR SO FUNNY YOU NEED TO BE ON TV

metademetra damn right
isn't this a ripoff of the mid-2000's movie, Shaggy Dog? Didn't anyone else notice this? They are the same movie, only Nine Lives features a cat instead of a dog and the plot is far less coherent.

My cats were disturbed by your intro of cats screaming.
I think my favorite movie with a life lesson is Liar Liar, starring Jim Carrey.
i thought it was 1 of those nickelodeon movies i didnt know it was theatrical
This movie reminds me of those Rob schneider parody movie trailers from south park
Except as a real, full movie
Hahahaha.... oh yes! You´re right! Good times, good times... XD
The opening was halarious.
I'd pretty much knew this movie is CatShit!!!
Where's the link to the handbook? I want one XD
I think it's at eBay somewhere at $200.
Where can I buy that book?
I've seen this cringe-worthy film. It's like they saw "Rob Schneider is a Carrot!" and decided "Kevin Spacey is a Cat!" Except, the Rob Schneider would have been better. (Didn't say they were all kid-friendly. Just saying this movie will have you cringing.)
So this just Shaggy Dog with a cat?
I thought this movie was a joke until I started to see it be advertised
I'd buy that book.
XD Real funny opening. I know how you feel, dude. Sometimes our cat Buttons just wants attention. :P
Fun fact when I went to see Hell or Highwater I saw a destroyed cardboard standee for this film.
where's the handbook on amazon?
man these august reviews are always so happy i love them
he shot the cat like they did harambe
Gerald Vounas RIP Harambe
I think I'd choose daddy's home.
Stfu Sinky :D
I'm thinking of Eddy's quote from the picture show, "I'm really starting to hate slapstick."
The music that just played with the BCG cliche handbook....beautiful.
I want a BCG cliché handbook! Where can I get it?
So. This is basically Shaggy Dog... but with cats? ^_^
0:30 Black Critic Guy is a dick to cats (ding)
Daniel Attrell do you hate blackcriticguy
Landon Legate No
It would be epic as hell if maybe a group of 5 or 10 youtuber movie/anime critics came together in one video to make maybe a 20 minute vid horribly depicting Hollywood's cliches. Tony would TOTALLY play the "I gets no love" role perfectly.
Sorry I'm dreaming...but Tony where can I buy that book?
I know what you said but I kept hearing "the most erotic thing in the movie" 😂 lololol
This is one of the best rant videos you have ever done
This just seems like some cheap movie that would've aired on Disney channel or something back in like, 2002. For most movies, even for the fifth fuckin' Ice Age movie, I try and give it a chance. I have this faint hope that it might be some type of good, or at least not utter shit. This movie, though, as soon as I saw the trailer, I KNEW it would be utter shit. I'm glad you had some fun with this film. Go see Christuckman's review of the film. I'm not exactly sure how to spell his TH-cam name.
Isn't this the cat version of shaggy dog?
That's what I was thinking
That's what I thought so too when I first watched the trailer. It doesn't help that this kind of story has already been done to death and the cgi looks very outdated.
yuuuuup from the trailer itself
Should Have been the title of the movie. Would have more honest.
The remake version or the first shaggy dog movie or both.
and i thought the live action Garfield movie was bad
I was planning to want to see this movie. Thank you BlackCriticGuy for saving me from this film.
My favorite movie with a life lesson is easily "It's a Wonderful Life"
where do I buy my clithe handbook?
I honestly feel bad you had to see this movie😓
Dude, you missed a cliche! Can't forget: Main character played by a C-B List actor that they shove on all the promotions as a cheap selling point (even though no child knows who they are and usually aren't old enough to watch anything they're in...seriously, how many 5-9 year olds watch House of Cards)
Ink Star the Doodle Reviewer
They probably have seen Kevin Spacey in A Bug's Life.
AlbertoHerrera2000 Wait, he was in that?
Ink Star the Doodle Reviewer Yes he was. He was the voice of the villain, Hopper.
Alberto Productions cool
someone can tell me what's the song at the end please??
Let me guess- after this whole fiasco they get a new cat.
(Now that BCG brought up the ending, I'm actually pretty dang curious. I don't even wanna see this movie, but I'm still curious!)
Nice toy gun there 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 0:28
Does Mr. Popper's Penguin count? ^_^
To think this was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld...
Robbie Amell is Stephen Amell's cousin. Not his brother.
I see that it's getting harder and harder to make your top 10 favorite films this year
So is it like The Room, so bad it's good?
*cough* Shaggy Dog *cough*
thank you!
You beat me to it.
Since I just stumbled upon this pretty great channel with with review, I gotta ask: what month is it?
bullshit month xD
So BCG, how's the Astrisk War review coming along?
A CAT!
RATED PEE GEE THIRTEEN
^--- You guys all throught this when you saw the trailers, didn't you?
These cliches should have all died in the 90's...
Family films are great, but they don't always have to follow the same formula.
Not exactly my favorite movie like this, but I did like the one where the landlord from Threes Company turns into a fish.
Probably one of the weirder ones anyway.
I thought it was one of those cheap Nickelodeon movie's
Bro, I was just watching a marathon of your movie rant videos! Lol
Hell yeah 0:00
Anyone remember 17 Again?
I do know
Critic, does this movie have a scene where Spacey, as a cat, goes to Walken, and then Walken tries to kill him by shooting him multiple times and Space says "Six! Seven! All good girls go to heaven!"?
By the way, do you even use 2.5 out of 5 or even 1.5 out of 5 scores? I have never seen one where you've used it. ^_^
He used a 2.5/5 on terminator genesis
Random Badger Ooh, that's interesting. What's the description for 2.5/5 stars? ^_^
Hey Tony, What kind of book did you use for the BCG's Cliché Handbook? It looked like a collage textbook
I thought it was a photo album.
My favorite is Freaky Friday!
I knew this film would be awful.
me too.
Everyone did.
Me too.
+Kyle “kkpoop” ferrandino Do you watch anime?
+Kiromu Somu Why do you ask?
When I saw a trailer for the movie I thought it was a parody
LOL sounds like a lame rip off of The Shaggy Dog.
I actually called that it would be shit
me too.
Everyone did.
I think everyone knew it was going to terrible lmao
same
I was in the theatre for 10 cloverfield lane and this trailer came up. The minute it did the audience went silent. I was dumbfounded. After the trailer I heard someone go "That looks like shit" and I was like, "Yeah". Glad I called that shit early
The trailer told you everything about this movie.
the same rich family learns family lesson cliche
What's worse? Nine Lives or Norm Of The North?
Norm
Both
I actually followed my concious and didn't watch either movie. I knew that both would be shitty.
At least Nine Lives starred a talented actor!
True.
pretty much knew this movie is CatShit!!!
Nice Review BCG. Props On Killing Your Cat In The Intro.
To quote you, "It's just for kids." Or did you forget that?
Never said I hated it. Or did you forget? :P
+BlackCriticGuy You also said you hated Collision Course. Just being for kids is not an excuse to be bad. Kids have no standards, but they do deserve better. I'm learning to write for cartoons in college, & the children's part of the course said the same thing.
+SupremeMarioGamer So? I can hate a bad movie if it's bad regardless of its target audience. so I don't see what your point is
+BlackCriticGuy Aiming something for kids is no excuse to be bad. The "It's just for kids" mentality is wrong. Norm of the North is another example, you can't hide behind "it's just for kids" when you have Zootopia & Finding Dory treating children with respect actually putting effort into their work. Kids deserve better, families deserve better.
+BlackCriticGuy you should watch vampire knight it an anime that i think you would like please?
Someone fetch me some poocorn! This is gonna be good! LOL
I heard security guards tazed a cat for no reason, in a kids film?
Heard that also
Oh wow really? That's really low on both sides :/
Can you do Finding Dory?
he did it already
Glad I skipped it
What did Nine Lives copy and paste? Click... being a workaholic with Christopher Walken yet again doing his dastard deeds. Jingle All the Way... forgetting to buy a gift to his or her child. You forgot the Shaggy Dog.
Donaldson Presentations Ruh roh? :3
When it comes to the "one tv series where a bully turns into dog by some deranged weirdo and to break the curse is by doing 100 good deeds", you're thinking of "100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd" on Nickelodeon.
lbn8177 ty for finding that for me. :D
Liar Liar, A Thousand Words, Bedtime Stories, The Game Plan, The Tooth Fairy (1 & 2).
There's definitely more, but that's all the ones I could think of.
Kevin Spacey becoming a cat? What could possibly go *WRONG!!!*
I just thought about two other movies just like this: Click and 17 Again 😂
Why are Kevin Spacey's wives so young?
1:20 What are the Pixar cliches you can think of?
I assume that section is used for when movies copy what Pixar does.
The twist villain
Stephen & Robbie Amell are cousins not brothers.
Great review man. :)
I am not going to bother seeing this movie. From the trailers alone, it looked horrendous.
I thought so too.
When he did pull ups the CG looks so bad,I voment
It's a piece of cat shit.
Steven Amell and Robbie Amell are cousins
anybody remember 100 deeds of Eddy Mcdout?
funny man your so funny and smart like us
0:36 Animal Abuse!
i would have to say fluke, sure it had some of the cliches mentioned here but i found the movie very enjoyable and uniquely handled in some ways and the ending? adorably funny but bittersweet at the same time as it wasnt a TOTAL happy ending like most of these movies have which really surprised me so yeah fluke is definitely one of my faves

as soon as I clicked on the link, I turned the volume down on my headphones as a precautionary measure.
Cool handbook. But, I wanna know whats in the Pixar films section.
Two conflicting, yet complementary characters that go on an adventure for the flawed character to learn a life lesson.
+Blue Fire True
+Blue Fire Hmm, I think the exceptions would have to be The Incredibles, A Bug's Life, and Cars.
I just came to the conclusion that Tony has an awful taste in movies. Suicide Squad was amazing
