I shot exclusively motion picture film from Whatevergraphy when I was in Taipei recently. They hand roll and develop film at their studio. Best part, Kodak 500T, 250D and 50D are all about 6 USD per roll.
Hey man, saw you on NBC. Boy was that a surprise! They must have cut all of your Aerocrhome demands to Kodak for time. Keep chugging those Flamin Hot Mountain Dews!
Tbh I am so happy that you got to mess with a similar stock in medium! I jive with the tones that you got with the E-6 processing regardless, but C-41 is good too. Also the grain on these reminded me of wallpaper for some reason and might look sick if printed on sticker paper and applied to a wall.
I think it looks really cool ! Some tones seems to blend together like in a painting. I would have loved to see what it has to show on darker, more contrasty setups. In the woods or by a lake. Hard to find in California between the droughts and the fires.
The amount of wasted time in this channel if you think about time spent by Jason taking the photos, filming, editing, someone processing and scanning the photos and all people watching it. Mind blowing.
These colours really remind me of Maria Lax's Some Kind of Heavenly Fire. you may come back to them and enjoy them later, once you are in your Piscasso blue period.
I don’t know why you’re disappointed about these shots, the look really works for the locations. You probably expected something different but I think you’ll look back on these in a year and realize that they’re actually very nice.
Well, it's a shame I've only got two rolls of Retrochrome... But in good news! I found a three pack of old Fujicolor 200 for a reasonable price today! I think this was just after they stopped using a fourth color layer but before it was discontinued and then returned as Fuji "Gold" 200. I'm excited to shoot some on some green days, and since it expires 09-2024, I've got plenty of time. Look at that! I made it through this whole comment without mentioning my excitement for Fugugfilm 400 once!
hey! they look cool. well some of them and a few of those few are real cool. in all seriousness, i think some of shots are really interesting and fit the desolate landscape perfectly.
Heya! I love the way all the scenes in the desert look. Could I please ask if this was done using a filter or in post or how did you achieve this soft glow effect?
I would take an educated guess and say that he uses a Tiffen Black Pro Mist diffusion filter. With the intensity of the diffusion I'd guess a level of 1/2 or even 1.
Maybe I should start with downing Flamin Hot MD on daily basis to get videos every two days 🤔I really wait for their arrival like my insecure inner photographer is craving for every like in Insta.
I'm bummed it wasn't the same as the OG Retrochrome but some of the shots came out ok. I'm also saddened that all all sites that carried Retrochrome are out of stock, guess I'll be hoarding my last few rolls.
E-6 processed looked very flat, very post-apocalyptic (kinda fits what you shoot), but I didn't enjoy that. Those cross-processed look much better and I kinda enjoyed them.
I know you love your Mamiya 7, but Monica is a total babe and a really good sport. I know from experience, because my wife is a total babe and a good sport too, IMO.
the problem with color film is that then you have to move on to digital editing, and therefore betray the film through a scanner and a screen. What is the point of use of film in this specific case? Personally, I don't see any and refuse to touch digital, for which I have a total aversion. It's not photography, it's crap. I stay on the silver black and white. too bad if I'm an endangered dinosaur.
That transparency is so thin. Dmax/Dmin is like 2 instead of >1000. No wonder everything is so washed out, the scanner is trying to get detail from almost nothing.
No, not good at all. Better at the end after you'd checked out the instructions. Here's a thought:- Why don't you find locations that have some intrinsic colour to start with? Washed out deserts = washed out images. No matter what format or film stock you use. And ffs cheer up...
No expiry date in Jason‘s videos. Always fresh.
a new grainydays video is like being relieved of a giant shart after a long day
No cap
Need this on a bulletin board

Dude, the shot at 3:14 is the most paintingest photo I have ever seen. Wicked stuff!
And just like that, Daddy Jason blessed our thursday with a retrochrome video

Nice! I'll have to save my rolls to process there. Can you recommend other film photography shops in Taiwan?
Hey man, saw you on NBC. Boy was that a surprise! They must have cut all of your Aerocrhome demands to Kodak for time. Keep chugging those Flamin Hot Mountain Dews!
Hell yes bro you saved my ass on this long drive! I really hope you will come out with your own film roll within the next 5 years!

YAY!
This look is awesome
time for the best 10 minutes of my every other thursday
The cost processed shots looked goodly.
Silent flex with the Cine Zeiss in the back
I really like these shots. I think the cross-processed ones look the best!
The expectation was off BUT the images still look like paintings honestly! They look awesome👏
e6 wins for me that StarWars desert colour scheme just hits the right cord with me, or i'm just a sucker for shallow colour, grain and that smoke!
No more doin the dew, no more aerochrome.
These colours really remind me of Maria Lax's Some Kind of Heavenly Fire. you may come back to them and enjoy them later, once you are in your Piscasso blue period.

Nothing in life is better than seeing that Jason Kummfieldt has uploaded. Keep up the banger videos man
It looks cool. I like it. E6 and C-41.
i like the cross processed pics!
That bottle of Mountain Dew just looming in the back honestly filled me with an unpleasant amount of anxiety
Love the retro tones, will buy some
How do you do that "zoom in" effect on your photo at the end of the video??
This video is smooth as a snail...😌👌
hey! they look cool. well some of them and a few of those few are real cool.
in all seriousness, i think some of shots are really interesting and fit the desolate landscape perfectly.
I feel like the post rock community for a new source for album cover art.
"Can we fix that ATTITUDE in post?"
My dude would load film on the surface of the sun if he could
Is that a Zeiss Zoom Cine Lens in the back that I see 👀
hes back
Harman used that same tagline - Harman Retrochrome confirmed?
personally I like the colours. Do you think dropping the ISO would have had an effect to the colours?

thank god i have 20 rolls of it still. I dont wanna say which shop has it now cause its gonna jack the prices up haha.
I don't know ... I don't know what you love so much about retro chrome in the first place to be honest. But I hope there's some more coming your way.
Yo new grainydays
Sir, are you selling the remaining rolls? Thank you. Interested
Well, I liked the results. Also, I am a new subscriber... Instant like bro! Finally a photographer without the TH-cam fake bullshit. Keep at it man.
how do you always manage to load in sunlight?
And just like that retrochrome sold out everywhere lol
Every so often I see a new video from Jason on the feed and for a brief, grainy moment, I forget the sharp, eternal pain of existing
I liked the pictures; they remind me of watercolours.
BROOO minute 7:03!!! It's the Kill Bill church yooooo!!!
my local store has a few 35mm i might have to scoop up the rest
they dont do e6 prosessing but it looks really neat crossed prossesd in c41 u might want to give that a shot
This being motion picture film, wouldn't you also need some sort of print film / print film emulation to get the final image?
nice
I'd love to have a Digi Prime as a paperweight...
LET'S GOOOOOOOO
Maybe I should start with downing Flamin Hot MD on daily basis to get videos every two days 🤔I really wait for their arrival like my insecure inner photographer is craving for every like in Insta.
I knew I’ve seen you on Grindr.
Yo what backpack is that?
4:3 ratio chad with based color grading
Nice
which camera did you use to shoot this video
No Mtn Dew?!
Damn, don't make it hot bro! This is my secret stash!
I'm bummed it wasn't the same as the OG Retrochrome but some of the shots came out ok. I'm also saddened that all all sites that carried Retrochrome are out of stock, guess I'll be hoarding my last few rolls.
Woo
Hey’ I’m 35th!! YES!!!!!
oh no, i missed that its gone out of stock and i've only one roll left :(
Judging by previous videos, I'd say you found your "look" with this film. It may not come with a free bowl of soup, but it looks good on you, though.
E-6 processed looked very flat, very post-apocalyptic (kinda fits what you shoot), but I didn't enjoy that. Those cross-processed look much better and I kinda enjoyed them.
this is my coping mechanism to stress
Shot that last year and didn't like it... but of course I had it developed in E6... C-41 looks kinda good.
Great images. Only disappointed that you neglected the Mountain Dew challenge.
It's definitely not retrochrome, but it does have a good look to it
No chug. It's an omen, aero ain't coming.
I bought some and it will be shipped 12/31/9999.
if you send me the extra roll I'll get a Holga and shot it
You're so much better than the other guy. Which is pretty much what I said on his video, sooooo.......
Crossed processed is soo much better than the e6 look
feel like something was missing from this... couldve sworn it was in the background though
That's nice and all, but what if I want truly *krusty* images?
Chekhov’s Mountain Dew…
Whats up with people posting videos in 4:3 or 5:4 now?
you didn't chug the dew my dude
Ha nice.
Come to Ireland
Wait. You didn't drink it?! 😳
Hi jason my frodge is full of expired ektachrome 400 and 160T 🤷🏻♂️😂
It looks like it produces too many shite results for the one good one. Thanks for testing it out.
Zero chugging? Did we lose the war? 😢
Which one? Viet Nam?
Sup d00d

That’s from Taiwannnnnnnn 🇹🇼

I guess Baxter is dead?
They look great but my standards aren’t that high.

So sad that you couldn't fix that attitude in post :(

Damn you cheer up
Yooo jason i know you are a digital hater butttt please try a fuji camera for video :)
absolutely hate the aspect ratio
Long expired, dead as a door nail, High Speed Ektachrome. Looks like crap, as you would expect. Big whop.
Strange that you bought this again after poor first review
is that you dad?
How do you pay for all this sh*t???
