If you think you feel old, then just know that I feel older. I managed a pro photography store from 1992-2013. I sold many of the films you weren’t familiar with. Agfa was known to have 24+3 exposures in their films. The Kodak HIE Infrared is my favorite film of all time. It must be loaded and unloaded in complete darkness. (Carry a black bag if you need to reload. Make sure to put the same film canister in the bag beforehand because it has a black base & lid.) Kodak VPS/Vericolor was a common film pros used for weddings and portraits. They often bought it by the brick. (Sealed pack of 4 pro-packs.) I probably forgot a few others you mentioned that I could wax poetic about, but I’m old so I have an excuse. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.
Hi Jason - you remembered right! the Kodak PMZ 1000 did come from a hospital. I got it through a janitor who implied the stock had been utilized for records of autopsies. I can't verify if that's true, but I shot the other three in the box and enjoyed the sandy graininess - sadly no Exorcist style apparitions appeared in my negatives, though. I recommend shooting it at 800iso or slower. Enjoy
Thank you for making this video. I showed it to my wife to justify my own film collection and she said "why are you showing me this weird guy on TH-cam again" :) great success! Thanks, Jason.
The range of this channel is insane. From incredible three hours long video documenting epic motorcycle roadtrip across America to this video right here.
Just FYI the AR-5 process was the aerial film developing process used for processing Aerochrome the way it was intended for scientific purposes, but that EIR colour infrared film you had is processable in E-6 too (it should have instructions in the box that detail the differences, but E6 just gives higher film speed, more saturation and more contrast compared to the AR-5 processing). Like Aerochrome 1443 you can process it in C41 to give a negative which I generally prefer (more dynamic range and flexibility with colour cast). The previous version of EIR was called Infrared Ektachrome (IE) which needed the E-4 process (but can be developed in low temperature C41 chemicals). This was a somewhat equivalent emulsion to Aerochrome 2443, the predecessor to the latest version which was Aerochrome 1443.
The Color Mission is like a inverted Kickstarter campaign run by Adox. The factory which manufactured it some number of years ago has since been closed and Adox wants to sell off the frozen stock to fund the necessary research to start producing color film here in Germany again. That's where the "Mission" originates from. (If I remember correctly they bought some small machines from their bankrupt partner company.) I'm waiting for spring to come to test it out.
Would love to hear your workflow for 400D because I've shot a few rolls now and I'm just not that impressed with the results. But now that Cinestill has unprecedentedly become the cheaper "pro" film stock, it's starting to seem more attractive to me again.
In the UK, ‘Top Shelf’ doesn’t mean fancy…it’s a term used to describe the magazines in a newsagents store kept out of reach of children…the, ahem, adult er…education magazines…
I would love to see an episode where you take a trip and just use the random expired forgotten back-of-the-freezer type films and just run through them Ektachrome christmas style.
We've both shot the same amount of "ShakaColour"! I really need to shoot more. I was thinking of shooting the St Patrick's Day parade with it tomorrow and you just cemented that! Fuji greens lets goooooo!
The Agfa XRG is in my opinion (and in Germany where I'm from) a really affordable, beautiful and in Sunlight golden-shimmering film. You should really try it. It also comes at 200 ISO and 400 ISO.
Sometimes I feel like I’m hoarding film with my superman lunchbox full of 35mm stocks, but then I see a collection like this (but at the same time, I also envy it)
Cinestill 800T yielded some of my best photos, on square format even. The cool tones really pop and I love that, especially compared to the warmth of portra 800.
In some ways, I think this is one of your best videos. I’m a bit of a film hoarder myself, and, partially because of your Chanel have a lot of Retrochrome
I'm hoping to make a series of videos depleting my expired film stash. 1) Rising film prices 2) Variety in results and taking a more lax approach, since it may all turn out bad. 3) The quanitity of expired/unknown films is getting a little ridiculous at this point. Maybe you can do the same! Short videos covering 1-2 rolls at a time.
I got some Gold 100 on my fridge that was given to me by the lady at the Chinese restaurant by my old apartment. She just randomly gave me a bunch of film one day cause she saw me come in with a camera all the time.
Alternate title: ‘Jason goes through his superannuation fund and forgets to defrost his freezers.’ “So apparently Kodak used to make Gold in 100 ISO.” = Tell me you’re under the age of 40 without telling me you’re under the age of 40. Once upon a time, Gold 100 was literally the default, cheapest, available everywhere option for colour film.
The most interesting things in this video were that you've evicted the squirrel previously living on top of your head, and that your name is "Shirley". Would have never guessed that.
I finally got lucky and found some ektachrome infrared in a basement freezer while helping a friend go through a deceased relatives estate. 3 rolls frozen in a block of ice. You wouldn't believe me if I told you what I paid for them. After watching videos from you and a few others shooting it and wishing I had a roll, I finally have some aerochrome! I just don't know what to use them for, so they sit in my freezer.
Colormission is a prototype film made for ADOX by a coater in Germany that went bust. ADOX is using the funds from that to fund R&D for their new colour film.
Same I went and stocked up on Pro 400H its sad to see it go...bai bai...and been shooting with Gold 200 most of the time...is Portra is damnnn expensive
I'm just waiting on all that black and white infrared film to be shot on this channel, I love the look, especially the film stocks without the anti-halation layer. Also, if you're a mad man like me, you could always try trichroming that infrared black and white film to make some color photos.
I never shot any of current available Portra, because everyone was using it when I (re)started in 2018. Also Pro400H was much cheaper and I like the results, I still have like 15 boxes of it in 120.
Can def recommend the Super Presto (neopan 1600), by far the BEST bw film of all time imo, still have 11 rolls in my fridge. Also have 7 of the natura (superia) 1600... mine expired 2007/08, shot one last year, def performed better rated at 400 (after near 15 years of refrigeration, not freezing).
wow, this channel used to bed good, and I'll know that you were here in these final moments of the video see you on the next one which will hopefully be a lot better. I had a weird dream last night that someone was telling me the fuji i think its the ga645 can shoot 6x17 with like some hidden feature or something but that's like not possible right like a 645 lens cannot possibly cover 6x17. yeah anyway better than the usual nightmares.
Watched the whole thing for 13 minutes. Me : Great. That's a heck ton of films. Gonna hit next video - "Alright that's freezer number 1, now lets move to freezer no.2." Me : O_O
24+3 (27) was a thing in the 80'es and 90's as I recall it. Getting sometimes even 28 or 29 shots on a roll, when I had only paid for 24 frames was a nice feeling. My own freezer is full. I have promised myself to not buy new film until I have spent every roll. So instead I have added a collection of digicams - and of course the camera shelves are full as well now.🤦♂
Dude, you need to get a Nikonos and shoot that Ektrachrome Underwater the next time you do some snorkeling! Grab an underwater filter and you can test other films while you're at it.
Few fun facts about that Derevpan 400! The base has problems with light piping so you might have just leaked all over the first few frames busting it out like that. It's made by Svema in Shostka Ukraine which was hit pretty hard in the first weeks of the war and we'll probably never get that film again ... okay not so fun facts. I've got a few rolls in 400 and 100 squirreled away for something appropriate one day.
I know this video is old but just a tip for anyone watching; be VERY careful deicing a freezer w metal tools. If you slip and puncture the freezer liner the freezer is toast
I have but a meagre amount of film. On a budget, so I usually end up using what I have as soon as I have it. But I found a roll of expired Kodak gold 100 my Parent's house, and I'm keeping it to use at some point.
Enjoyed the tour through your film, nice variety! Inspired me to increase my ever-growing collection. Maybe you should invest in a chest freezer (body-sized)...
Fuji super HQ was supposed to mean "high quality" but I think it was supposed to compete with Kodak HD from the early 2000s which was supposed to be optimized for digital scanning and have a finer grain than standard Fuji film. I wouldn't know if this channel was good because I just found you
Man, that is a crapton of film. All I have is a I’ll roll of 250D and a bulk roll of 70mm Aviphot 200 for 220. Though if I’m being honest, I don’t need that many film stocks. You thought about doing B&W reversal? Just started getting into it, and it’s super exciting. Might be fun to showcase.
Wow this Chanel used to be good! 😂. I grew up shooting film in the 60s and 70s, still have my FE2 and 24 2.8 I got in ‘86. After years of digital I’m rediscovering film and manual focus. Thanks for your inspiration!
"I m not really a slide film guy. " Then pulls out the biggest pile of fpp retrochrome.
Jason looks like he just woke up and wants to show you all the cool bugs he caught in his backyard over the summer

Wow, this channel used to be so good
But legit, one of my favorite channels on TH-cam by far. Amazing work!
Hi Jason - you remembered right! the Kodak PMZ 1000 did come from a hospital. I got it through a janitor who implied the stock had been utilized for records of autopsies. The range of this channel is insane. From incredible three hours long video documenting epic motorcycle roadtrip across America to this video right here.
I think this is the first time I've seen you without a hat in a while.
and now you know why
The highlight of the video has to be the part when Jason tries to put film back into the freezer.
Quality content right there.
"Wow, this channel used to be good" is what someone who eats rolls of Kodak Gold would say. Great video.
that's what he's going to start doing when Kodak discontinues porta 800
Just as I think Jason is a shiny golden god of film photography expertise, he says things like “is 27 shots a roll a thing?”
Young whippersnappers haven't been around!
thanks jason, for the illuminating allegory i, a film shooter, needed to truly understand film "hoarding"
Can’t believe I found this channel for half off at my local thrift store!
Just FYI the AR-5 process was the aerial film developing process used for processing Aerochrome the way it was intended for scientific purposes, but that EIR colour infrared film you had is processable in E-6 too (it should have instructions in the box that detail the differences, but E6 just gives higher film speed, more saturation and more contrast compared to the AR-5 processing). omg the vfx department is back and running! never forget their oscar winning work of 'faceplanting into the pool' amazing
Yes, flamin' hot is back 💪🏼 Go for it, Kodak
Kodak Ektar 1000 was a great film back in the day, I used to photograph a lot of concerts with it in the 80’s. Fun video.
In the UK, ‘Top Shelf’ doesn’t mean fancy…it’s a term used to describe the magazines in a newsagents store kept out of reach of children…the, ahem, adult er…education magazines…
E100VS was my go to for shooting portraits for magazines. Seeing that box in your hand filled me with nostalgia.
Loved it, that after the video, the film in the freezers was neatly arranged.
Oh shit - I have a camera specifically made for your Natura 1600! Like my one and only (and fav) point and shoot. Yes, I still have film cameras....
I would love to see an episode where you take a trip and just use the random expired forgotten back-of-the-freezer type films and just run through them Ektachrome christmas style.
I also sent Euphoric 100 along with Elite Chrome. I also truly appreciate that you enjoyed Elite Chrome
We've both shot the same amount of "ShakaColour"! I really need to shoot more. I was thinking of shooting the St Patrick's Day parade with it tomorrow and you just cemented that! Fuji greens lets goooooo!

Wow this channel just keeps getting better “not kidding”
everytime Jason Uploads, I get an inexplicable urge to have a spending spree on film even tho I only have 50 USD in life savings.
Way cool, there is hope, keep on chuggin' the Dew! FPP deserves a standing ovation and your channel too, great stuff. Hope Baxter rescued you tho! 🎉❤
aerochrome aerochrome aerochrome give this man his aerochrome
"Some people are slidefilm people,
And some people are,
fun at parties"
I'm gonna have to steal this one
And some slide film people don't go to parties.
we need more of these types of videos on the internet
Love you Jason! I bought a mamiya RB67 because of you! 😅😅😅😅
Sometimes I feel like I’m hoarding film with my superman lunchbox full of 35mm stocks, but then I see a collection like this (but at the same time, I also envy it)

Love the green cactus ‘thing’…😂❤
Finally we see all of Jason’s collection. Next he should show us all the batteries he buys for the cameras and rank their tastiness.
17:38 the comedic gods are on your side 🤣🤣
I'm hoping to make a series of videos depleting my expired film stash.

Wow! This channel is so good!
Great video as always. I have not bought film in a long time. I bought a million rolls of color plus a few years ago which was a great idea
The most interesting things in this video were that you've evicted the squirrel previously living on top of your head, and that your name is "Shirley". Would have never guessed that.

Wow, this channel is still so good
Underwater means weathermatic time, what a beautiful unit
I just developed a roll of Fuji 400 from my graduation night in 2005 that was a 24+3. It was pulled out of a disposable camera.
Colormission is a prototype film made for ADOX by a coater in Germany that went bust. ADOX is using the funds from that to fund R&D for their new colour film.
I was just about to write a comment on that, thanks for doing so!
I'm definitely buying Retrochrome after seeing the photos samples in this video.
Same I went and stocked up on Pro 400H its sad to see it go...bai bai...and been shooting with Gold 200 most of the time...is Portra is damnnn expensive
Many years ago I almost always shot Kodak Gold 100. It was on the shelf in Target and places like that and was economical.
The Silbersalz 125T is super cool, it's the same stock The Black Swan was shot with
I'm just waiting on all that black and white infrared film to be shot on this channel, I love the look, especially the film stocks without the anti-halation layer. Also, if you're a mad man like me, you could always try trichroming that infrared black and white film to make some color photos.

Hey man. I just wanted to say I enjoy very much your videos. I love the lazy tone and the self depreciation jokes. Cheers!
Wow, this channel is still good. Can’t say that very often anymore
I love you, Jason. Too much.
My best freezer rolls are a 50-year old roll of Ektachrome 64T and 2 rolls of Natura 1600
Instant thumbs up for the Mountain Dew magic trick.
Still the best dry humor on the internet. "Nickelodeon show Euphoria " 😂😂😂
If you shoot some of that film you might be able to have a place to cool down that flamin’ hot Mountain Dew 😅
In the late 1990's we would sell that Agfa color 27 exp for $2/roll. It's selling pt was 3 extra frames and cheaper.
The Olive Garden allegory is PRECISELY how I feel about both film and OG fettuccine Alfredo. Good job.
Surprised you didn’t have any of the retrochrome 16mm motion picture film! Also wow I remember when this channel used to be grainy
wow 2:00 in and this already feels like the most relatable video yet
wow, this channel used to bed good, and I'll know that you were here in these final moments of the video see you on the next one which will hopefully be a lot better.

Wow this channel is so good.
Also Kodak Gold 100 is a really great expired film.
Watched the whole thing for 13 minutes.
Me : Great. That's a heck ton of films. Gonna hit next video

It seems to be a part of the Agfa brand. I have an Agfa cassette tape that says 60+6 and the tape really fits 33 minutes on each side.
That is an epic hall right there. 😅 damn man you might need a third fridge. 😂
Then we would get a video about "Let's see what's behind door number 3!"
@@mikejankowski6321 omg yes 🙌🏾🤣
Dude, you need to get a Nikonos and shoot that Ektrachrome Underwater the next time you do some snorkeling! Grab an underwater filter and you can test other films while you're at it.
Just what I needed, thank you. Phreezers for ancient phukked philm.
Whatever next?
Man, shoot that lomo purple, it's really good. I make sure to get something red in my shots with it
Few fun facts about that Derevpan 400! The base has problems with light piping so you might have just leaked all over the first few frames busting it out like that. Adox Color Mission is reaaal nice!
wow too many films , loved your all videos
Definitely got some king missle vibes during the olive garden stoy :)
And this is the 200,000 subscriber special
waaauuu this channel used to be good. now its great!
I know this video is old but just a tip for anyone watching; be VERY careful deicing a freezer w metal tools. If you slip and puncture the freezer liner the freezer is toast
"high quality fuji? no such thing..." lol, have to agree.
You'd love Adox Color Mission - it's like shooting through a brown filter, but with punchier colors.
the flaming hot mountain dew reveal was so clean
This was a good video! I enjoyed you looking a little disheveled for once!
Maybe you should invest in a chest freezer (body-sized)...
top notch as always :D
Jason, I'll chug a mystery substance with you if Kodak ever nixes Portra 800
I was entertained. 👍🏻
The can trick was good. I worry about your film getting ruined if the freezers lose power. Please get everything into ziploc bags.
The Silbersalz film holder is cool because you have a film holder but also it's forkin difficult to open, every single time.
We need that natura 1600 video. I got 2 rolls and I have the same issue as to when is a good time to shoot it
Literally 50usd rolls
Okay Jason without his hat is like Garfield without lasagna.
Jason without his FILM would be like Garfield without lasagna.
Wow this Chanel used to be good! 😂. I grew up shooting film in the 60s and 70s, still have my FE2 and 24 2.8 I got in ‘86. After years of digital I’m rediscovering film and manual focus. Thanks for your inspiration!
