A few things to add, as I had a fair bit of time with Dei's 8S test bike and went over it pretty thoroughly with a critical eye. Firstlly though... that gravel track footage doesn't do justice to the crazy steep gradient, no shit when you walk on it stones are tumbling downhill from each footstep. It was ropey. I'd have quite liked a rope to climb or descend it tbh 😂😂! I spoke to a load of hardcore MTB riders (the campsite is a MTB mecca) and they said no bloody way would they have dared ride a heavy road spec motorbike on that track with no knobbly tyres. Mega respect for Deimantė by me and the hundred people who were amazed and impressed to find that gleaming brand new bike at the top of a mixed mud and loose gravel death trap track we'd all cursed and sweated and stumbled up and down on every time. She shocked everybody. I was really proud of her, she's way too humble about it so i had to blow her trumpet for that. I guarantee most of you watching couldn't have managed it or had the balls to have tried it. There were other bikes parked at the safe bottom main car park by all the sensible normal average bikers! 😎👌
Comments made by some were all impressed by the new 8S styling and fit and ginish. I'm talking quality build quality. There's not one shitty quality plastic part on it, the materials used and the paint and coating finish are all pretty shockingly positive. I've got and owned a few Suzukis and build finish has never been a strong point with any of them. The older ones suffer. Well I've gotta say im honestly impressed by this latest model - it's more like a premium euro quality level. The value for money is incredible tbh.
I could get geeky about the engine and fueling and ECU mapping but this is too long. But believe me when i say this new engine is cleverly capable of much much more with some remapping and dyno time and a stage 1 couple of mods. It's electronically neutered as stock and still feels crisp and strong. I'm into racing. This 8S platform is the new weapon for minitwin and supertwin racing. Look forward to seeing them in action on the racetrack and roadracing next season after teams figure them out and unlock all the potential.😮

@@tomboyabitcheers you. The engine design and mapping is seriously clever by Suzuki. It's been released in 8S form with the perfect tune for this application. I've learned that the throttle position mapping alone has massive scope for improvement in performance. This isn't new, but on a middleweight do everything naked twin... it's rare for upper rev range to be as restricted (usually there isn't much more power available to NEED to restrict it beyond emissions reasns). I'm hearing that there's about 30% restriction artificially at the top end. Imagine how you'd be buzzing if the wee blue midge splatterer had an extra third of the throttle suddenly available at the upper end of the rev range!! It does flatten off, but by design. The potential for this bike is bigger than it seems as standard. Amazing first bike perspective in that you can learn on it, get good on it, then if you want more... reflash the ECU and unlock another level! Then keep enjoying it all opened up! It'll sound spectacular with a good exhaust and via elecronic fuelling tuning. I want clip on bars and a half fairing. It's inevitable that Suzuki will release it soon -I hope.
You did this 8S and Suzuki proud mate. Best test experience I've watched on TH-cam and it stands out. You went aaaaaaall the extra miles on this one and it shows. Be chuffed.
Suzuki, ffs put your special 8S only preload spanner in the tool kit as standard please. And heated grips aren't OTT to expect in 2023. That's my constructive couple of little moans. 🙌💙👏👏👏👏👏👏

It’s hilarious to me how they have thin and cool license plates for cars, but then these giant billboards for bikes out there

    • @tonykeast9966
      @tonykeast9966 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I know, UK plates are horrendous. On bikes there's been a couple of decades of bikers playing cat and mouse with the police by using smaller illegal plates. Muuuch smaller! I've given up with small plates and various font styles and sizing... it's not worth the hassle, I'd always get pulled over in the end 😢😂. Cops treat you with a little more decency when you've been naughty speed wise... if your number plate isn't a microscopic middle finger to the law, that always sets their attitude to 'punish this prick' mode... from my experience. It's been fun while it lasted and believe me we've all taken the piss with our plates over the years! 😁

@@raphymartinez I've not seen a 8S with the tail mess sorted out yet. I looked hard at it though, figuring out how to do it. Trickier than normal with the rear light/brake light not being mounted to the bike, but being part of the black plastic monstrosity that needed removed and killed with fire! It's a shame you cant post a pic of your set up here. If you follow Deimantė on social media? Send her a photo of how you fixed the ugly lights/plate mount. Also the shock adjuster tool if you got one, I wanna see how different it is to a conventional preload spanner, if af all. Glad you're loving the bike. It's frustrating having a newly launched model and the aftermarket hasn't got any goodies ready yet isn't it?

So far in the tuning shops in the USA, it's approached about 88 hp at the wheel (gains of 10-11 hp). Remarkably, it's also picked up 9 ft-lb torque (around 64-66 ft-lb, depending on dyno) in the process, which is pretty awesome. Work is being done on velocity stacks, airbox, other things. No work yet on camshafts, but that seems to be the current limiting factor at making more power at the higher revs. It makes fat torque in the middle but flattens HP gains at high revs.

I had a riding instructor your height, you must be taller than him. He proudly announced he was "5 foot f*ck all" to every new rider with concerns about their own height or leg length. He was excellent. I got to watch him prove 100% to every student that you don't need to flat foot any bike if you learn the ways around it. Flat footing on a lesson was a cardinal sin even if we could easily reach tarmac... Adapted body position and better technique completely built confidence for every rider. I've carried this on for over 20 years, pushing shorter riders into the way he taught slow speed manouevres and control. It's all about the rear brake and clutch... advanced level control. Better balance via practicing his methods and reading the road and environment better. Not all riding schools teach to his level. Have you been riding long? What country are you in? I know many shorter riders who ride surprising and unadapted big bikes perfectly and proudly and confidently after learning better skills with the right instructor. If it's causing you problems and affecting bike choices and your riding... give me a shout and I'll explain more and try to help. I was 5' 1" myself for a wee while many moons ago 🙂

@@user-zl6em9ub5t that's a bloody impressive riding career Roy. Wow! Far be it for me to be trying to teach a good old dog any new tricks mate 😁. It doesn't sound like you've let it hold you back much at all, big respect from me. I was hoping you'd be from another country like America, where the level of tuition and skill required to legally ride on the road is shockingly the very bare minimum. There would be so much room for improvement in that kind of situation. I've worked with many US/foreign bikers and it's by their own admission that the UK test standard nowadays is faaaar harder but better than they had to do. That being said Roy, the DVLA test back in your day was hardly the biking Krypton factor either!? 😂😂😂. Yer never too old or experienced to sharpen up some skills and refresh your/our confidence, I think. I can see me putting a lot of effort into my blunt riding skills next year. Rusty and worried. I'll be a happy man if I can rack up all the miles and time that you have on two wheels! I bet youd get on great with that new Suzuki, the weight is so low and it's narrow. Check if there's a lower seat option in the accessory line for the 8S?

Looool cat fight! 😂 I worked in civil engineering for a few years so allow me to talk technical dirt and clear this up a bit. 🤓😂
The road was a grim mix of materials and aggregates. The underlying soil was red clay. There was soil run off from the surrounding woodland that had mixed together a lovely mess of wet clay over some random boulders randomly on the track. At some stage in time a few loads of 100mm scalpings has been laid, too thin and irregularly to fill soft spots. Type 1 MOT grade road aggregate also used randomly in between mudslides and wash off over many years. Most recent layer though, since they added building services up the track for toilets etc is pea gravel. I'd say the dumper driver was on the piss. There was as much 5 and10mm pea gravel and crushed shingle slung around (particularly around the tight corners) to make it dangerous. There wasnt a consistent run of any one material up the rough road. But the stupid pea gravel over much larger rocks in places was the worst booby trap. That and the gradient. I'll estimate 1 in 4 at it's easiest and 1 in 3 at worst. Average 1 in 3.5 or about 32% from memory 😅 next time I'll take soil samples and my theodolite to work out the levels for the critics. Gravel track is the way I described it to Deimantė. I was picking gravel out of my boots grips and dog's paws. Gravel track was the term used by the staff when they gave directions "up the dodgy trail" and all the mountain biker dirt connoisseurs around the place referred to it as gravel too. So go with it! No fucking way in hell would I have taken a brand new press bike from a manufacturer anywhere near it. Crusty Deimon of dirt nailed it with a smile every time tho. Suspend your disbelief! When the mountainbiker mob realised it was a tidy little blond chick with just jeans on... they were all even more impressed. A guy who rode GS beemers for decades made a point to stop and chat and give a bit of respect to her for it. Which is much cooler than being a dick about terminology to a non native Englishspeaker who does damn well I think. 🧐🤫

Oh Lithuanian you accent is very similar to a Russian accent in English.
Heck English speaking people in the USA can have difficulties understanding The English that people in Great Britain Speak. Certain Regions in the UK have a very different dialect, slang , and use different words than what we use in the USA. The Dialect in the USA varies Greatly too .. from the South From The East Coast like New York or Boston. I am going to try and find an interesting Video of Guy Martin who's Grand Parents I think immigrated from Lithuania thanks to WW II Destruction. In England we are given instructions of how fast to go on our bike test in KPH yet our road signs are in MPH. What a confusing country we live in

Why test a road bike on a gravel surface.

Sometimes you have to ride a gravel. This was that time. I didn’t want to leave the bike too far from my camping place.

Hello Deimante, honestly on this one, it's too many "wouaw", "fantastic", "the best", "perfect", to be complete review... It looks too much like the brand has given you the bike in exchange of compliments. I just can imagine already the next video, in 4 years for the Suzuki's update, which will say that the new seat is "so much better than the previous one", or "the brakes are hopefully updated",... I'm not saying the bike is not good (i didn't test it), but the review simply looks too "sponsored by the brand" to be... honest

It’s not sponsored by the brand or endorsed in any way. I just loved it that much. It’s a great bike. One of my absolute favourites from all I rode. Many who rode it will agree with me.
I loved it and I listed the reasons why. Furthermore is another opinion on the vlog.
