    Wow this is incredible! Thank you so much for posting this Believe it or not I mistook the wiring under the steering wheel for the cruise control I had no idea that those volume controls even worked or were there! I have a 2001 thanks

    Have a 02 limited 2wd . I have just about rebuilt or bypassed everything. Never thought of hooking up the buttons. Thank you for the excellent and descriptive video!

    Yeah dude... this is a whole lot cooler than having to buy that $50 wire harness and still having to splice into the harness behind the radio.

    Another great video man, love the WJ stuff! Any idea if steering controls can be added? My 04 FREEDOM edition does not have them unfortunately and it’s a feature I’m really missing!

    This is really awesome, But my question is with the kita like the aswc-1 by metra, Why is all that extra stuff necessary in the kit?
    When it's just this easy to do?
    And by the way my stereo only has s w c cable?
    Will that work?

    My 2000 has a yellow/red pci bus wire that was connected to the back of the factory stereo. Is that used for SWC? If so, can I just directly splice into that wire?

    Thanks for the helpful video, I'm a first time installer of an aftermarket radio in my 02 jeep grand Cherokee Overland. Was wondering how the swc was going to get hooked up, easy one wire hookup. Mabe the factory sub will be one wire also. Still need to buy a high frequency through for the tweeters.

    Just wanted to share with people. You DO NOT have to tear Into the steering column. You can just tap into the wire on PIN 14 on the factory wire harness while you are in there anyways. Can confirm it works.

      @@codegreen5213 I bought my radio from Crutchfield and it came with an install guide for the steering wheel controls. It said you could splice in to pin 14 on the factory harness.

    I have what might be a really, really dumb question: That red and yellow wire that leads from the harness at the steering wheel MUST end up in the radio compartment where it controlled the OEM radio, right? So why not just tap into it in the radio compartment?

    Thank you! Been driving myself crazy on this, I have the same radio as Chris (but different software) and no luck. Except I was trying to tap in with the same blue connector you had, which might explain it! Gonna try a direct connection like you recommended. Just to check, you didn't need to connect anything to KEY GND? I grounded that one out, and not sure if that's giving me a problem too.

      @@NajarOffroad took out the splice and connected directly like you mentioned, everything works perfectly now! Turns out I had the exact same issue with that scotch lock not making proper contact with my wire. You have no idea how long I'd been trying to fix this haha, thanks for mentioning it!

    One thing, so at the end did you disconnect completely the red & yellow cable to connect it to the red one?
    I just added it with disconnect the red and yellow
    But Strangely, I can program most button, just not the up and down on the right side steer wheel, witch is normally for volume

    Idk if it's infrared and the wire activates the sensor or the wire itself pulses at various resistances for each function of the steering wheel controller

    Great upload timing bro! I have benn following your videos and i am gonna need this video on coming weekend. I am going to install a 10 inches Android 11 screen on my Jeep WJ 2004 and to go one step further, i have also ordered a 360 Bird view (Tesla style) parking camera and going to try it on my jeep.

      Nice! I didn’t know those type of cameras existed! I wouldn’t go the 10 inch route personally pretty hard to properly install in a WJ

      Haha they are the same steering wheel just use a WJ one and cut the plug off😂 add ground wire and the power wire to radio solid!

      @@NajarOffroad Chris radio looks like mine and there is a section on the radio where you can control your ac. Something about a CANBUS Settings I Think? Or do you need to connect key 2? and where is key 2 on a Jeep? Similar to this one but on a 9 inch. th-cam.com/video/b-6D57T7rd8/w-d-xo.html

      Never messed with one of those tbh. I would try to find a graph showing which wires connect to the buttons on the steering wheel

    Can you please confirm if this realy worked . I have Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 from EU market . I changed the radio and the device that i bought from china didnt work . So my wheel botens dosent work

      Yea The person who told me how to do this did it the same way. You can definitely check where the wire goes and connect it behind the radio. Either way it works and that’s what matters 😂

    why wouldnt you tap into the harness behind the radio rather than under the steering wheel. btw this only works with the low end budget radios and those cheap chinese radios. wont work with th top 5 pioneer kenwood jvc sony alpine in the us. now if you were in oz they allow it.

      Yea it will work on your Tacoma if you change out your radio since your 2019 didn’t come with CarPlay might as well change out that pos it came with
