Loved your reaction - totally concur. Ann Wilson is 73 years old and her voice is still so incredibly distinct and powerful. What a wonderful gift to give to the world - feature Ann with Disturbed. Wow!
It’s ironic that her weight, which caused her so many problems once video took over, is probably part of the reason she still sounds so good. I had it explained to me 30 years ago how weight affects a voice and I don’t remember the details, but the long and short of it is there’s a reason you don’t see many skinny opera singers.
My God this is great. And what can you say about Ann Wilson that hasn't already been said a million times? She's just the GOAT. I grew up with Heart and Disturbed has been a huge part of my later years, and for years I've felt like David and Ann were my favorite male and female hard rock singers. But I never in a million years thought I'd hear them together since they are really from two different generations. I was excited two years back when I heard they were collaborating, and when I picked up Divisive a year ago I think this was the first track I listened to. It wasn't until a month or two ago that I heard it on the radio, and now with this video I bet it takes off like wildfire.
So great to see Ann Wilson front and center in an epic like this, especially at this stage of her career where she could be off on a beach somewhere in retirement. She is truly a national treasure. I've heard this song a million times on Octane (SiriusXM) but the video added a dimension on top of the audio. It actually made me emotional for two reasons: 1) The symbolism of the emptiness of separation/divorce, and 2) Seeing a legend like Ann in her career twilight just killing it. Great reaction to this song.
The number of male singers who wouldn't be vastly outshined by Ann are in the single digits. David is phenomenal. The two combined are music magic. What a great song and you're absolutely right, perfect metal ballad.
Cannot help but notice how Ann took on some of David's vocal traits and the guitar solo echoed Heart's sound. My Top 5 Female Rock Vocals: Ann Wilson, Floor Jansen, Simone Simmons, Pat Benatar, Lzzy Hale.
Great reaction. David Draiman has always been one of my favorite vocalists and your analysis gave some new insight as to what it is about his vocals that make them stand out.
I agree, Ann Wilson has such a beautiful voice. She has taken care of that voice of hers to no end. Her and David complement each other in this song. Loved it as soon as i heard it. This song will go far.
Even the lyrics are pure metal, you're no good for me, all you do is hurt me, but I can't stop loving you. In film this would be Noir. Two phenomenal vocalists.
When I saw this pop up in my TH-cam feed, I RAN here to listen to what you had to say. It's so nice to hear a knowledgeable take from someone my age(ish). It's so amazing when you have the same touchstones in life as someone else. My husband is quite a bit older than me and we have different musical soundtracks to our young lives. Ann Wilson is still the QUEEN of rock and David Draiman ... that voice! I agree 100% with everything you said. You are so right that the legacy lives in the modern. I never would have been able to put it that way, but it's perfect. :)
2 legends in rock music come together in an epic eargasam sound. Absolutely love the song. Growing up listening to Ann Wilson and Heart and listening and following Disturbed and David Drainman as a young adult, this song gave me goose bumps.
I love your description of David's voice. I first heard him with the cover of Sounds of Silence. Mind blowing! Been a fan ever since. As for Ann (the legendary voice) Wilson and Heart, she can still SING! I had them on replay with their albums, cassettes and CD's. My very favorite of theirs is "Dog and Butterfly" Heart got me through some very dark days as a teen and young adult those many years ago! Excellent reaction! Thanks
Out of their entire catalog I didn't think there was anyone else out there who's favorite song was Dog and Butterfly. Most people would list one of their heavy songs as their fave, but D&B is special.
I have loved this song since it was released. Glad they finally released a video to promote it. David's and Ann's voices together are magical. Great reaction ❤❤
Shoot, that is a nice track. Nice how you set both vocal geniuses as barometers. Just can't help wondering what Emppu would have done with the solo ;-)
This one reminded me again why I love David Draimans softer voice.. and honestly Ann Wilson .. is Ann Wilson - what else can you say beyond that. Because of my age (lol) both of those voices are comfort call backs Ann Wilson when I was a kid and Draiman from being a grown up... like cocoa spiked with tequila... love it and love your reaction!
Thanks Eric! 5 days on and only 43 comments? I'm kinda stunned. Pairing these two vocalists together is pure gold. For both artists! This is a Collab/collision 40 years in the making and awesome! I knew when Disturbed dropped their last album this would take off... perfection! Totally concur about LITTLE QUEEN! Cemented Heart's legacy. AND LOVE SHOUT 2000!
My brother...first time tuning into your channel and subscribed.....absolutely loved your reaction and your invite man....phenomenal!! were on point with all of what you said about Ann and David. No other duo would come close to this masterpiece.
Sir I am in shock and awe that you do not have a million subscribers :Not blowing smoke; I was an in studio radio sidekick/ producer in the late 90's early 2000's in Wichita. You Sir have "The Radio Voice" I mean it sounds like you should be doing the evening news from a 🚁 😂
Love your insights. I think the first song I ever pounded a fist in the air over was Barracuda. And my god, at the end of Ann's verse, that drop into the chorus, up goes that fist, and my god, what a through line to my life of loving rock.
After kaarija last year Eurovision qualifying season is returning to Europe so I thought I’d test this crazy European song out on you. Estonian rap/rave The two bands are 5miinust and Puuluup a combo of rap and traditional Estonian music and the song is called….. nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi Good luck and I hope you are surviving the snow out there. Best online reviewer in America 🤘
Ann Wilson, as in 'daughter of one of the Beach Boys' Wilson? Wow! She's come a long way! I remember buying the CD Wilson Phiips, with 2 other Beach Boys daughters. It was OK. But I do think Ann stood out on that album. In this video she kills it indeed! And is Disturbed turning soft? Not that I'm complaining, NOT AT ALL!! This is an awesome power ballad!
Ann , and her sister Nancy , are from Heart. Brian Wilson's daughters are Wendy and Carnie in Wilson Phillips, with Chynna Phillips daughter of John and Michelle of The Mamas and the Papas
Ann has no relation to Brian Wilson or any of the Beach Boys. Different family entirely. She's the lead singer of the band Heart which had it's peak from the late 70s to the 90s.
Yes, fall ‘22, but this official video was just released. Seeing the pain on Draiman’s face and hearing it in his voice after a very painful divorce last year, just adds that much more to the song! Dan was the one that came up with the musical concept after his painful divorce. Seeing it drives a stake into your heart.
Loved your reaction - totally concur. Ann Wilson is 73 years old and her voice is still so incredibly distinct and powerful. What a wonderful gift to give to the world - feature Ann with Disturbed. Wow!
Some singers don't sound good when they get older, Ann isn't one of them. 73 and still sounding great. 🤘🤘
It’s ironic that her weight, which caused her so many problems once video took over, is probably part of the reason she still sounds so good.

Seeing AW in the video hit me the same way man. She's such a legend and for whatever reason I got a lump in my throat too.
Nice song. Good to hear something new from Disturbed and Ann Wilson. She's still got it!
She's got to be in her sixties and still sounds great.
@buckysnodgrass9252 she's 73. Such a legend.

Defnitely great choices. But you also cant forget about Doro Pesch
Super song, Great reaction that validates my insecure opinions. Your unique perspective and experience is highly appreciated. thank you!!
Fantastic song and great reaction. Keep it up Eric nd keep up the good work ❤❤❤
Great reaction. David Draiman has always been one of my favorite vocalists and your analysis gave some new insight as to what it is about his vocals that make them stand out.
I love Dave Draiman....and this song is amazing. Ann Wilson still has that beautiful voice of hers...wow! I don't have any other words!
You said it best and i concur. This will be played a lot for awhile at my house.
3:19 that drop made the song for me
I agree, Ann Wilson has such a beautiful voice. She has taken care of that voice of hers to no end. Her and David complement each other in this song. Loved it as soon as i heard it. This song will go far.

It's the most beautiful song! Glad I'm in good company. @@buckysnodgrass9252
Something about this gives me Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel vibes, but more belty.
I have loved this song since it was released. Glad they finally released a video to promote it. David's and Ann's voices together are magical. Great reaction ❤❤

I found that David, in his younger years, was classically trained as a cantor. His voice control comes from that training..
They belong together in music. ❤ These 2 are immortal apart and even better together.
the best is amazing duo perfect
Love the song am only just getting to know about this band and im so glad iv got into them ❤
Thanks Eric!

We heard Disturbed perform this on tour with Plush’s lead singer this year. It was great, she wasn’t Ann Wilson but she did a great job.

No, Ann Wilson as in Heart. The Wilson you're thinking of is Carny Wilson.
Ann , and her sister Nancy , are from Heart. Brian Wilson's daughters are Wendy and Carnie in Wilson Phillips, with Chynna Phillips daughter of John and Michelle of The Mamas and the Papas
Oh, Ann Wilson from Heart is ndeed a legend as well!

This is my 1st time watching a reaction video of yours. Thanks for not stop the song. I know it's an evil necessity at times.
One word, all three syllables: Damn.
Love Ann and David is great
Great song
"New track" its like 2 years old on the last album haha.
